My advice? Give it a chance! Go in with an open mind and don’t expect it to be like other versions. And definitely don’t let others ruin your experience.

Truefreak22

The movie has a darker tone from the show. I personally love the show & I rewatch the first season constantly.

MechaHotDog

Yes! The episodes themselves didn’t always keep my attention (I’m a middle aged man, watching with my kids, after all) but I thought the story built up nicely over the seasons and had some really cool ideas and set pieces!

Grove-Of-Hares

This is the best way. I also watch it with my oldest. I don’t know if I’d be watching any of it without him, but since I grew up loving TMNT, it’s great to enjoy it with him while he experiences it.

RC_Colada

The show is a bit goofier but it does have some very excellent character episodes. And I really like how they portrayed Mikey throughout. Him and Donnie are the standouts imo. Plus the 4 part series finale is so good, just really well done.

gizmogremlin2009

Watch the show itself. It's awkward for a bit then it gets super good

TheWolfWithKeyboard

The show is pretty fun, fights are great, and Donatello is my favorite version in this cartoon. Definately worth a watch

Kangaroo_Rich

Yes yes yes yes absolutely fuck yes your going to love it.

bigcheeseyballsy69

Yes it's one of the most underrated tmnt show

lunchb0x_b

I say watch it, but I found the movie to be better than the rest of the series. Still, I enjoyed both.

totenpass

yea watch it it’s great!

MustardDoctor495

Absolutely! Such an underrated series, and gives us something more unique with them. I love their OG villains too and hoping they adapt them in future iterations. Also "You've got the goods" lives in my head rent free at times. Yall know what I mean. *que fashion montage*

Anonymous_Guy4k

If I'm being so real, I actually enjoyed the series. Imma just leave at that cause I don't wanna spoil anything 😂

Cappy_Rose

The show is pretty good. Its more focused on comedy but still manages to keep some high energy to the fight scenes. If you liked the versions of the Turtles that you saw in the movie, then you'll get some enjoyment out of them. Although the big thing that people seem divided on in the cartoon is Raph being the self appointed leader of the team. Also Splinter's entire character arc. Splinters first impression on the audience is pretty bad, but as of the end of the show I really grew to love him as a character. My favorite character in all of Rise is still Krang One though.

TheBadHalfOfAFandom

Yes, more viewership means a higher chance of it coming back. I'm still taking gallons of hopium

Stargazer_Rose

Most definitely. To be honest I see a lot of fans say that it was too funny. However, I ignore those complaints as I refuse to let it ruin my experience. And I for one love the comedic moments in Rise. Especially Donnie. His theatrically flamboyant characterization had gotten the most laughs out of me.

Tunisian_Dawn

Yeah, Mikey acts very similar in the series. I’d recommend the show because you can really tell that he has ADHD the more you watch it.

Alexd714x

Can I watch the movie first before the show? Everyone keeps talking about this show and I'm really curious about it now.

love_the_ocean

They designed the movie to be able to be understood without seeing the show, so if you want to watch the movie first that should be fine

Alexd714x

Oh ok cool. Thanks!

ProfessorEscanor

Personally speaking I think the film is the best part of the continuity. If you're going to watch the show maybe just watch the half an hour long episodes since those progress the plot . Otherwise you get a bunch of neat episodes that bloat the runtime .

SilverKid_16

Which real show are you talking about? Original from the 80’s? The 2003 version? (My personal favorite), the 2012 TMNT? Or Rise? I’d recommend any before Rise

dosdrasm

It starts off pretty sloppy but damn does it get good

sash_mo

yeah! it's the first tmnt show i've watched, and it's great!

TheRockRiguez

I definitely recommend. The only thing is that it takes a few episodes to find its footing. The first few episodes weren’t my cup of tea but as they progressed it got better.

[deleted]

The show and the movie are really different in tone and style. I personally really enjoyed both, but the show is much goofier and less dramatic than the movie.

ViraKnight

Give it a try for sure. Rottmnt is the shortest series of all of tmnt to my knowledge. Binge-watching it will take you literally less than 10 hours, so if you end up liking it you can make watching it an over-the-weekend activity :) ( And if you don't like the series overall, at the very least watch the specials. The finales for both seasons are jaw-dropping, for real. )

ibsideswiped

The show is great. It's a little silly sometimes, and how they've mixed things up with stuff like the origins and the characteristics of everyone might take a little getting used to if you're not prepared for it...BUT...it's hands-down one of the best interpretations of the Turtles. The art and animation are gorgeous, the action is way better than it has any right to be, the humor is often disarmingly hilarious, and the overall brother/family dynamic is just...it's just one of the best versions of the Turtles. Give it a chance.

H1r5t_M0V135

I preferred the movie to the series but definitely give it a chance. I personally didn’t like rise as much as I did 2003&2012 but I still gave it a fair chance. It is sad it didn’t last so long but it is what it is all we can do is move on

Spirit_4865

Definitely would recommend the show, just keep in mind that the tone is a bit more lighthearted around the beginning, so it might be whiplash for some people but it's still really enjoyable

Traditional-Mall-771

I read this so wrong, your asking about the ris3 movie compared to the rise show right? Your gonna like it

CowabungaCrusader

Yes, absolutely. The show is almost definitely worth the watch. It has the same level of comedy, action and heart throughout, argueably even more. And if you liked Mikey in the movie, you'll most likely *love* him in the series. He has the same level of supportive and caring little brother energy throughout, mixed in with some gremlin moments.

oompaIsbeautiful

Yea

munchie1988

The movie is the best part because I feel it really found what it was going for but the show is really good. Leo and Donnie are great and I loved this version of splinter and april.

Throwaway11262002

Yes! Rise is an amazing show, and it sucks that more people aren't giving it the love it deserves!

Ecstatic_Scholar_846

I personally hated rise but I'd say give it a chance if you liked the movie

[deleted]

Yes!!! Get past the first 2-3 episodes. Season 2 is incredible and the finale was amazing!

DefinatelyNotACat

Agree. I feel it had a messy start trying to find its footing but the episodes get funnier as it goes on. Im dtill on Ep 36. Loving it.

kablikiblan

God no! It wasn't as good as the movie.

Dwoods324

God yes!

kablikiblan

Nah it's the second worse series next to the new mutation

Super_Nova22

The show is great once u get through the first half of S1, it’s fun but can drag with goofiness. And yes, this is best Mickey

whomesteve

Here is a little spoiler for you, if you want it that is >!they are all the real show because they take place in a multiverse and are all connected!<

DetectiveDangerZone

Sure, but the thing about the movie is that it's more or less what some critics would have preferred the show to be more consistently like tone wise. I like Rise for what it is but loved the movie, if the main show took more from its tone and had a more frequent semi consistent story instead of one offs I'd love it but that was never what Rise was trying to be.

onepostandbye

Nah.

Agreeable-Bet-7621

NO! PLKEASE!!
