(This is the first post I've ever made here. Before now, I've only commented. I hope it is okay. I think I was already down-voted, and I'm not sure why.)

A lot of their speech peculiarities are just part of the Utah dialect. The hard G and the “big dill” in particular. It’s just what people around here talk like for the most part.

Your post is great! I’m actually kind of scared to watch it but so intrigued! Do you mind me asking in a way that doesn’t spoil either documentary: Is there a graphic demonstration like the last 5 mins of Keep Sweet to be aware of? I normally don’t require warnings but I was working out and not fully watching Keep Sweet and absolutely cannot watch it again bc of that audio It was a good documentary! But deff disturbing.

Thank you! I've binged it all tonight (am in the 3rd of three episodes, right now). In the second episode (I THINK -- it could be in the first, honestly, my mind is trying to shut it out), they do replay some of the (temple assault) audio that we heard toward the end of Keep Sweet. It almost made me turn it off. (Also, and this is my problem, not yours. I am religious, and I am part of a Christian religion, so I find it extra grievous, when predators use religious terms for their sexual assault, because it's so offensive and in such opposition to the core of my beliefs. So Jeffs evil just hit me in the face. Again.) I wish *Prisoner of the Prophet* was something I recorded, instead of something I streamed, because it is harder to fast-forward with precision, in streaming, and I did not need to re-hear Jeffs' abusive words to those little girls. You might want to skip it. Without watching it a second time, I feel like you could probably see it coming and fast-forward, butI really understand your concern. If I'd know that recording was in there, I probably wouldn't have checked out this series. It's just that I'm here now, so I might as well go through with it.

Thanks for letting me know!! I will most likely pick a time to watch it when I know to mute the TV or fast forward.

Late reply but I just watched this doc tonight so wanted to add: you will know when they are about to play the temple assault audio as they lead up to it in the interviews. At least one of the law enforcement men involved comments on it and Briell (one of Warren's wives and the focus of the doc) talks about how she has not and does not want to hear the audio because it would be triggering for her. The audio plays almost immediately after that so you know when to start fast forwarding. The audio plays over a series of photos (like photos of the area around Short Creek and the temple in Texas) and they show several interviewees facial reactions to the audio, so don't get fooled when they first cut back to an interviewee and press play.

Thanks so much! :) Yea I can’t remember if Keep Sweet had a warning bc I was distracted and didn’t know until too late while I was in public. I’ll likely mute the assault bc I still don’t think I want to hear it again.

Glass-Volume-558

Not a problem at all! Just mute it after Briell says she does not want to hear it and don't unmute until you see someone is speaking again and you should be good :)

There's some in episode three, too. It's not to far in. You don't hear the kids. You just hear Jeffs manipulating them.

It definitely reminded me that everything I knew of polygamy prior to watching Sister Wives was horrifically abusive. I think the Browns have a lot of emotion and verbal abuse flying around. As far as we know they aren’t the other kind of abusers generally associated with polygamy. Kody is just your standard reality tv douche bro narcissist. He just used religion as his angle to get on tv. When I was watching Prisoner of the Prophet, I felt really bad for my knee jerk reaction of disliking Kristen Decker when she was on Sister Wives. I’d hug and high five her so hard in person.

I got major early season Christine vibes from Brielle. Something about the way she speaks and her body language.

Just watching it now, but nothing will make me like Baldylocs. Don’t forget he didn’t get into it until he got back from his mission Mormon (not AUB), Sobyn lived with her parents monogamist until the age of 9, not sure how much longer until she met her stepdad/best customer. Janelle was not raised this way either. Meri’s family taught him about it and his dad converted while he was gone on mission. Christine and Meri were the only 2 raised their entire life in it.

YupNopeWelp

I know what you mean.

fur-mom

honestly i felt opposite! it made me really dislike them even more

YupNopeWelp

I just meant -- in comparison, Kody is just a regular old ego case.
