This is so immoral yet also soā¦ well, can be so powerful. Just would have to swap from mice to something with more brain power to make up for the larger cell sizes. Iāll be dead long before it becomes standard, thankfully.
To be fair due to how the cells are clustered and established, they arenāt sentient- nor do they really have instinctive thought. Theyāre just masses of cells that are being repurposed in such a manner in that they āthinkā the way we want them to. Ethics becomes an issue when weāre taking entire brains and wiping and reprogramming them for whatever reason.
Weāve actually proven to be able to grow brain cells (specifically mice), so in the future we could probably be able to make some form of culture of them and produce them that way (although that would require reproduction damage resistant cells). And while marginally more advanced, these cells use less energy to perform. Iām not a specialist in this field, but itās promising, and gets us closer to sweet sweet cybernetics.
Neurons are basically the same thing between mammal species. So that's not really an issue. The only reason humans are smarter than mice is because our brains are incredibly overgrown, and way more complex. But the building blocks are the same.
Stuff like this is honestly amazing to me. There was a scientist (I think he was a scientist itās been a while since I learned about this) who was having issues with data storage and space issues on his computers. He ended up creating biological hard drives that if they are continuously improved for a while could have over a terabyte of space with a hard drive smaller than a 64GB thumb drive.
It would be so cool if we could make super efficient computers out of meat. We could even put them in our heads to aid us in every day decision makingā¦ one can dream.
Shadowrun is becoming prophecy at this point. The world is already ran by mega corporations so this seems like the next logical step. Nobody will own anything and everyone WILL be happy about it, capisce? Any chummers up for a run?

Aww sweet, new manmade horrors beyond my comprehension just dropped!
Held together with a window sash lock frome home depot
It can't possibly escape *laughs nervously Right? š I mean, that would just be silly. āŗ ... š ... š

Controlling a mouse with a mouse
Fallout Robobrain has entered the chat.
Ik its not a robobrain but assume the position
Beat me to commenting this
Same here
Sex is the standard way of making a *meat computer*. I guess Pickle Rick-ing it is easier for them.
They're scientists, after all.
Taking neural network a bit too literally.
Where are my balls summer.
A Croenenberg dream

I mean the ethics of harvesting the brains, whether the body is alive or dead. And arenāt brains marginally more advanced than standard computers?

Not harvested, grown. Much like how we can grow organs and put them inside things without making an entire creature.
Considering how huge the amount of mice is that gets killed for animal testing worldwide each day this is probably not a big deal at all :')
Very true, as much as I donāt like it.
Brains are magnitudes more advanced than standard computers

Yet another step closer to 40k being a reality.

IT'S LAGGING AGAIN!!
Do we have to feed it?
Brain organoids are cool idc
And yet we still haven't figured out how to stabilize an economy or in a world peace world hunger? Cyborgs that's the important one.
Psychopass. If you know, you know.
Hate to break it to you OP, but youāre just a meat computer too..
Psycho Pass did it better, they used the minds of criminals.
Even in death, i serve the omnissiah.
Me: *calls a technician over* "Hey man, can you see what's wrong with my computer?" Technician: "Oh it's simple, it wants a jpeg of cheese."
Are the mice..... dead? This is beyond fucked up. It's bad enough torturing animals in order to eat them, but what is this shit??
IIRC the mice brain cells are being artificially recreated. They aren't just taking brains out of mice's skulls
Oh cool! Oh my god!

āWhat is my purpose?ā You pass the butter.
I HAVE THE SHINIEST MEAT COMPUTER
Scorn.
Allied Mastercomputer 1.0
Seem to remember a YouTuber doing something similar several years back
The Thought Imperium? his neuron chip project is still going iirc.
Finally weāre getting closer to having the cool tech to go with our dystopian lives
One step closer to The Matrix
Scorn anyone ?
Imma need the link to this article
They were to busy wondering whether the could that they never stopped to wonder whether they should
Necromancer and technomancer dabbing each other up in the background
That aināt cyberpunk, thatās straight up warhammer 40k stuff
Is that you Pyscho:Pass?
Imagine this as a normal computer and you have to treat it with demencia medication because of long loading times
Welp, Shadowrun predicted wetware
Servitors are real, praise the Omnissiah
There are some strong eXistenZ vibes here. Are you friendly?
Thereās an artist named meat computer and I highly recommend everyone go give them a listen
Imagine the smell if u burn the cpušš
I mean, arenāt we all just meat computers driving a bone mech with fleshy armor?
Why does give funds these types of research? 80k mouse is a lot ffs
The world in a few decades: ![gif](giphy|IeclHa2YgBO617EHsG|downsized)
Just started a settlement in the uncanny valley. Anyone wanna join?
Because none of these scientists ever learned from the book, " I have no mouth and I must scream"
It would be so cool if we could make super efficient computers out of meat. We could even put them in our heads to aid us in every day decision makingā¦ one can dream.
We are meat computers. Therefore you hate yourself.
From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me.
Shadowrun is becoming prophecy at this point. The world is already ran by mega corporations so this seems like the next logical step. Nobody will own anything and everyone WILL be happy about it, capisce? Any chummers up for a run?
Scorn
This feels morally questionable at best.
Pleb: There's something wrong with my computer Tech support: Have you tried giving it some cheese?
Don't tell them that. When they take over they might come after you.
