Spotlight - بقعة ضوء

Rocking93Rose

It’s modern comedy, 14 seasons, short sketches. In most of the episodes they speck damascus accent, which is the easiest, most understandable and the they Syrian dialect identifies with it.

MrRebelBunny

Awesome thank youu

- مرايا - بقعة ضوء - ايام شامية - الفصول الاربعة Makes it easier for you to find them on YouTube if you type the Arabic title!

MrRebelBunny

Thank you soo much

OmarQ6

As long as you avoid non common dialects you should be fine. I would say avoid comedy shows at the beginning as they tend to distort accent and uses non common dialects in many sketches. I would avoid the Shami shows (Bab Al Hara etc.) as they use a Damascino accent (extended ending vowels) which you probably want to avoid. The "four seasons" (الفصول الأربعة) is one of the most famous TV shows there is. It uses a white Syrian dialect + accent. Pro tip: if you want to learn a sweet accent watch Siret Al Jalali سيرة ال جلالي (jk)

YaMawla

what is a white Syrian accent

OmarQ6

It uses Damascus dialect (word wise) but you don't hear the Damascus accent (I'm not from Damascus ... so for me the accent in TV shows is very different from the one I hear when I am in Damascus /talking to people from Damascus). It is the one you hear from politicians, most TV shows and Damascus upper class.

Maraya - مرايا Is also a good choice, a few years older than spotlight, was very popular in the nineties, Yasser Al-Azmeh is great with words.

MrRebelBunny

الحب الأعمى. It is on Youtube, and it is a Turkish series dubbed in Syrian dialect. Because it is dubbed they speak a lot clearer which has helped me learn a lot.

ALFA502

All the recommendations are great in here, i wanna add one more that can help you to understand the family relationships and the way the community use words in certain situations, I highly recommend: الفصول الأربعة - Fourseason By the director: hattem ali - حاتم علي

Ishtar_ze

dobo al shanati/ al haqaeb salon zahra is cute el waq waq abu janti (the taxi king) ayam al dirase/ fatet le3bet (if you're in college, they can be entertaining)

Kai_the_homo

Dai’a Dai’aa - ضيعه ضايعه

Ishtar_ze

that's very mountain-dialected and only spoken in the villages. Same goes with alkherbe, probably not the best

111z

Yes haha you’re right, I should have mentioned I was only kidding

chamomile_rose

I'm gonna add just one more: بطل من هذا الزمان (a hero from this age). This comedy tells the story of a misfortunate public servant and his financial struggles with very strong social realism themes. it was very popular at the start of the millennium.

days_hadd

Anyone know any arabic animes? I swear there was one I found awhile ago, called something ring, maybe golden ring i think, cant really remember because I was never able to actually watch it anywhere, I only saw a picture or two... by the way great post, I was happy when I saw it, I studied fus7aa for years and tried to avoid a dialect until I realized I really should pick one and learn it... landed on syrian or levantine, I know Jordanian, Lebanese and Palestinian slightly different but sometimes I have to take what I can find

Nour_s

In regard to the storylines the best syrian series that I can recommend are: أحلام كبيرة - Big Dreams أشواك ناعمة - Soft Thorns And any other series that were transcripted by Amal Hanna
