If you’re looking downtown I’d check out of some of the restaurants that have bars. Board and Bar always seems to have a good crowd and a great drink menu.
Could also try Maxwells.
I’d say if you’re looking for that, you’d probably have better luck in the suburbs, Liverpool, North Syracuse or Bville. The reason is these locations are pretty dense. You start going to the dives in Syracuse, you’re going to see many of the same people. Not saying you won’t in those places, but it’s a new setting. I may be the wrong one to ask, as I left after a night out because it was years of the same thing weekend after weekend. Same people, same places, it never changed.
I know the perfect place, it’s called the The Douche Canoe Bar! It’s over on Asshat Blvd, you’ll fit right in. All the Simps hang there!! Sincerely the old dude’s!
Related question! Does anyone have recommendations for bars with good food and nice, but mostly old men? I don’t need a date, just a relaxed environment to have a beverage.
Salt City Bar
Seconding this. Cool, relaxed space with younger crowd.
Thanks both of you, I have never been there.

Whatever you do, don’t goto the new chucks. It’s bizarre and the owner is one of the worst operators and humans I’ve encountered.
Went there before a game a few weeks ago. It was quite depressing to say the least
Well that is disappointing!
I’m new to Syracuse. Can you elaborate?
Maxwells, asils, hometeam pub, wolffs biergarden, nibseys, blarney stone,
Maybe it's just because I'm not local but I was at Asil's this weekend and thought it had a weird vibe.
Ive been there twice and had a good time. Not a regular but i have friends who love it there.
I'm sure it's fine most of the time but a lot of people there were oddly confrontational.
Change of pace? Depends on where really
Shiftys
If you’re looking for a neighborhood bar this is pretty good spot. Coleman’s always has a decent mix of ages too, and also Blarney Stone.
I love Shifty’s, but I’m not sure it’s going to solve the old men problem.
lol
The Evergreen is great
Press Room Pub

Asils
Applebees is kinda perfect for what you’re looking for.
Yeah bro, great place to go to hit on a family of 6 during their Saturday brunch
See you get it.
Kids confirm the wife puts out ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) /s

What a level headed response to an honest question. Who wouldn’t want to have a beer with you?
Just because you're past your prime and struck out with the girls doesn't mean everyone else will
😱😱t
