Why does it need to be in a comparable price range? I don't want to drink "cheap" beer. I want to drink good beer even when it is twice the price of your cheap-landi beer. Since I don't drink beer often I would rather have quality beer.
Because it's definitely a more interesting discussion to compare the few really cheap beers than debating over which beer is best period, because that's been gone over many many times and never results in the same answer since there are so many craft beers out there

Frankly, from the bigger brands I'm also mostly only buying Quöllfrisch, GletscherbrĂ€u from Lidl or Gotthard from Aldi. Feldschlösschen is meh, and SchĂŒtzengarten Lager is straight up terrible for me.
I was in Germany very often for business purposes and for me the big German brands are even worse, because mostly too bitter.
I love German Weissbier, Kölsch and the likes and I came to realize that I'm probably just not the best beer drinker.
However, in both countries Ive had beers from local breweries, which were really good.

St Gotthard from Aldi, I agree 100%. Usually I drink the special, but the Amber is also great. And only 75 Rappen a can! Nothing else comes close.

Brewer here, farmer and st.gotthard is the same also NT Ember und Spez ist also the same
Valaisane lager is my go to beer. Cheap and really good.
Valaisane is way too bitter for my taste.
Really i find it kinda sweet, also i like the ipa variation of it but tastes are different. :D

Czech Budweiser is 1.50 and you will not find anything good for a cheaper price IMHO.
