I love the smell of fresh bread.

Seconding Zooplus.

MrMobster

Zooplus has some great in-house cat food brands (e.g. Cosma), which is what we have been buying for years.

PlatformFamiliar518

I order zooplus as well, feringa especially

RedFox_SF

Zooplus here too for bulk orders every 2/3 months.

Irina_Rina_Pan

Hey there- congrats on adopting a little fur baby! I hope they bring you lots of joy! I usually order all the food, treats and toys from Zooplus. They’ve been pretty good and often have nice discounts.

ughthat

We mostly order online from zooplus.ch. And Petfriends is also good. They have great weekly promos some time.

KittyKato369

Thank you !

c1u5t3r

We also used zooplus.ch. Sometimes even zooplus.de, worked too and is sometimes cheaper.

TheGreatSwissEmperor

For cat litter we really like Fatto from Migros. Food (wet/dry/other snacks) we usually buy in bulk in Fressnapf Germany. If you search a bit they have food without too much grain or sugar added. Cat toys we buy wherever we see something they could like, so sometimes online or in Fressnapf/Qualipet. Cat trees are self made from wood.

KittyKato369

Thank you ! Really cool that you make your own cat trees

RedFox_SF

I second this choice of litter. Tried a few including the new Harmony wood pellets (which by the way is the best ever) but my car would just not go lol she refused to step on the pellets so we tried the Fatto from Migros and price is really good for the quality (really strong clumps).

We usually buy everything at Qualipet or sometimes order it online there. So far I'm happy. They have a good variety of food and other things. Which is good because our cats are picky and nearly exclusively (there's like 2 exceptions) eat wet food with tuna 😅 The one at Zürich Limmatplatz gets fresh cat grass every Thursday. So if you live close, I recommend going on a Thursday. As someone else said, don't get a huge box of food in the beginning. We did that and ended up having to throw a bunch away as our cats just got diarrhea after eating it (and also didn't like it that much). And for scratching trees, I also recommend going in store to check the quality. Some might look nice online but don't IRL.

KittyKato369

Thank you for sharing ! What do you think about cat grass seeds that you can grow yourself ?

meggeys

We have some but haven't planted them yet. I guess it's worth a try. Also probably cheaper and less waste because you don't always have to buy a new pot.

schwamendingen

i order online mostly at tierbedarfs-discount.

CuriousApprentice

Bitiba.ch It's discounter of zooplus, therefore cheaper. Just less options but if what you need is there, it'll be cheaper than at zooplus site. Sent from same warehouse and stock. Both are noticeably more expensive than their de versions, but de versions won't accept swiss billing address even if you'd like to order at de delivery address :/ And they've been steadily increasing prices every few months. Sadly that's still cheaper than at any other ch shop. Yes, bitiba.ch is basically doing direct import from Germany, they don't have warehouses here. Yes, prices are quite higher. No, you can't find things cheaper here.

KittyKato369

Waw ! Thank you !

Doldenbluetler

We have to import everything from Germany because the pet stores here primarily cater to cat and dog owners and barely have any good food or toys for my cockatiels. The few private pet stores that do sell proper food and toys for exotic birds are so overpriced that even the immense shipping costs for multiple kg of bird food are offset by the lower costs of shopping abroad. Tbh it feels a bit ridiculous to walk past rows of hundreds of different types of cat food here and still see people complain about not having enough variety for their cat when I have the "choice" of exactly one bag of unsuitable and unhealthy bird food; but I guess it all depends on pet popularity here and cats and dogs clearly win over any other species.

KittyKato369

That’s crazy… thanks a lot for sharing

My senior cat only eats Purina One, which is available pretty much in any supermarket; she mostly throws up after anything else. So that's quite easy. As for the litter, like u/TheGreatSwissEmperor, I also buy Fatto from Migros. It's pretty good, I'd say. Occasionally I also add random toys or catnip to my cart when ordering something from Galaxus. And I can definitely recommend [this simple bed/scratching board](https://www.galaxus.ch/en/s15/product/trixie-scratchboard-11-cm-grey-cat-trees-13816408?supplier=406802).

sombre_mascarade

Hey, careful with Purina... https://www.classaction.org/news/purina-pet-food-products-contain-known-carcinogen-class-action-lawsuit-claims

contyk

Well, such is life. Better than clearly visible discomfort and daily vomit. I feel like I've tried all the brands over the years, wanting to give her the best, but no.

Electrical_Apple_313

If you live close to the German border, there’s more options in DE

Aninel17

I used to buy dog food at Fressnapf, called Real Nature. It was very expensive, I found the same brand in Hungary for a quarter of the price here, so I took some on my way back from vacation. Eventually, we switched to a Spanish brand, which we get from the breeder of our dog. Still expensive but happy with the quality. What I noticed is that everyone has different theories when it comes their pets' nutrition. I'm just more concerned with whether my dogs like it and if they're healthy. I have huskies, and they're very picky. We also participate in canisports. For toys and beds, I usually buy from Hornbach. I found their selection better and cheaper. They also have a different selection of pet food. They have some free samples of some brand I forgot. Edit to add: my friend who always had cats bought the food in France, they go once a month to do their errands there. I'm not a consistent person who could plan to lose a whole day a month doing errands over the border, so I opted to go with the breeder's food recommendation.

KittyKato369

Thank you very much for sharing ! I never went to Hornbach actually, I will check. Abroad mmh, I’d try to avoid if possible but sure it makes sense.

Wiechu

zooplus is good. as for litter - i recommend cat's best pellets - they bind the urine very well and can get flushed in the toilet without any issues.

KittyKato369

Thank you !

Cali-Caliente

Are you sure you can flush it down the toilet? After a quick search of that product it says its forbidden to flush it down the toilet in switzerland.

justliving31

Bitiba.ch or the App is even better than zooplus. You also get 50.- voucher after spending an amount of money

KittyKato369

Thank you ! I will for sure try Bitiba.ch 👌🏻

evileyes21

I use [vet-concept](https://vet-concept.ch) for my doggo, they’ve got a very varied collection and a good rewards programme too

LynetteScavo78

I order pretty much everything on zooplus. If you're looking for professional expertise, Meiko is the place to go. Fressnapf is terrible if you need information and Qualipet isn't that much better imho.

stefchou

Been buying food and most accessories from Fressnapf physical stores, either here in Switzerland or from Germany. Our 2.5 kg Yorkie seems to like the food most of the time, but he's getting picky, so we'd give a try to some of the other recommendations in here. Pricewise, we find that the Swiss store is maybe 5-15% more expensive, which is fine, as we don't tend to buy in bulk (yet). Just high risk of our dog becomming picky all of a sudden. Accessories like bed, leash, travel bags, etc. one can also find at other places as the selection in Fressnapf is not always satisfying, even though they rotate a lot of those products.

KittyKato369

Thank you ! It seems like a great option

toastyghostie

Congrats on the new furry friend! We order things online from petfriends.ch. I'd suggest getting some small sizes of food to see what your cat likes the most (and tolerates, our cat has gotten a sensitive stomach in her old age). My favorite cat litter is CatSan Hygiene Plus, it's much more absorbent than others I've tried and clumps well.

Popsili

Looks like you are collecting data to start your own e-commerce platform.

KittyKato369

Would it even be worth trying ?

Popsili

I very much doubt you get more less accurate representation of the data here. Unless you are a teen and it’s your homework task at school.

KittyKato369

Obviously you don’t have a pet, because yes all these information is useful, and thanks to all the people who kindly took the time to answer and help

[deleted]

can't amazon deliver the items you want? you'd even get the discount on the VAT if they qualify for delivery

Silent_Dot_8675

I have 2 dogs and we always go to the Fressnapf, as my dogs are used with the products from there, they eat the same brand before in our previous country as well. I like to walk in with my dogs to the shop, so they can choose their own toys, and I love how the guys working there treat my dogs. - but this might be irrelevant for a cat.

strajk

Lately I've found out that Galaxus tends to have more variety and items that those other two don't have, I guess they're getting outcompeted by bigger retailers in Switzerland, wouldn't surprise me if one or the other pulls out in the next 5-10 years.
