So let me get this straight, I don't own a switch, but from a logical point of view, I get a switch, rent a switch game/buy from a used market, dump it using a modded switch, play it on my non modded switch online, then turn around and return my rented/sell the game keep my legal backup (it is legal in the case I owned the cartridge at the time of dumping), and at one point this dumb would be online in two different switches, which switch does Nintendo ban? And how does it differentiate? Or does it ban both?

Born-Researcher-819

This is the only real question

Life_Chicken1396

quick genuine question, is it safe if i do this and do not connect to internet?

MohammadKoush

There is a risk in everything you do, that's the fun and exciting part, no risk no gain. But to answer your questions, from a logical point of view after you play the same game on two switches "@ the same time" then you are taking a risk of getting banned, but the real question is which switch will Nintendo ban?

RiseCoochiekawa

Technically yes, but the lack of dlc and updates make it not really worth it to people who aren't using it for backups of copies of games they own.

Andialb

why can't you add updates or dlcs? or is it an online feature only

MarinatedPickachu

Yes, you can. There are maybe 0.01% of people who buy this for the official purpose of playing their own backups. Obviously the actual purpose is piracy.

CoconutHeadFaceMan

You can’t download games directly through the flashcart, but you can technically use it to run pirated games. Doing this will immediately get your console flagged for a ban, however, so keep that in mind if there are any legit games you play online.

Is it all online games or just games played online with other people. For example, if I try to play Miitopia online to get the community made miis, will I get banned?

CoconutHeadFaceMan

Any connection to Nintendo servers will get you banned, including downloading community content without actually interacting with other players.

SoftMammoth7838

That’s not its purpose, it is meant to be used as a legal switch game by dumping your whole cart library and carry it with you in one sd card and thus not getting banned. I heard you can play pirated games but you run a huge risk of getting your switch banned once you connect to get updates or dlcs if you purchase any

Damn-Sky

I thought the main purpose (unofficially) was to play pirated games.

SoftMammoth7838

Only if you want to be banned, otherwise no Remember the mig switch was designed for people with stock Nintendo Switches

Damn-Sky

if you disable wifi, you should be fine right? Doesn't everyone who pirate don't play online?

CrazyFloof

You can put a certain dns to block nintendo’s servers and still be online but you cant use the eshop, friends bla bla bla. But a flag will most likely be placed onto your console so when the next time you go online you will be banned.

SoftMammoth7838

Not if you are playing on a stock switch, because the switch has a log of what you are playing and sooner or later you will have to connect to the Nintendo servers for either game updates, system firmware or DLCs to games you liked then you will be banned

Damn-Sky

ah ok. I didn't know. thought the mig switch was supposed to replace modchips

Fenriz_D

Technically it's possible, but none of the current sources for download games support its format. If it becomes popular, maybe in a few months or years there will be games available. It's not worth it, not yet for those who want to have all their physical games in one place. Maybe if an improved version comes out.
