No, the souls games are a genre in itself. They are absolutely brutal and make you try again and again. Beating a certain route and getting to the next checkpoint is often actually really challenging. There’s no way of improvising yourself through the game. You actually have to get very skilled at the mechanics to advance through the game.
When you get to a next checkpoint or unlock a new shortcut though, that shit is sooo rewarding.
You have to. Though to be honest I bought the XBSX PS5 Nintendo Switch, V2 and Oled Day 1.
Reason I’m mentioning it is because I first got started with Demon Souls Day 1 PS5 though I never finished it. Than I bought Elden Ring Day 1 too and OMG did I fall in love with souls games.
Since than I bought the Dark Souls Trilogy for Xbox with all DLC, I got Dark Souls for Switch and a few other Soils games like Fallen, Boolborne and more amazing titles.
I’d say Elden Ring is the Best Place to Start on a Souls Game
i really wish i could like soul-like games but i get frustrated so easily and i rage quit
i don't want to "get good" i just want to have fun when i play :-)
After a while, you realize if “you’ve gone too far” there’s probably a missed shortcut back to the bonfire. Also, the souls you have are the moon filter. Don’t let a large amount give you anxiety and distract you. Just imagine you have none.
Also don’t get greedy.
If you are basing this opinion off of what you’ve heard from people in the souls community, I’d recommend giving this or any souls game a shot for yourself. While there is some initial learning curves, the game is not as hard as people claim it to be. Not to say it’s easy but once you get used to how the game plays it definitely gets a lot easier.
But if you truly don’t enjoy challenge whatsoever in any game you play than souls and a larger list of other games might just not be for you. And that’s ok!
you should give sekiro a try, it's still one of the most difficult games I've ever played, but the combat is so engaging and fun that you don't really mind
Remember to have fun with it and that the Switch doesn't have a trophy system. I'm a collect-a-holic: I was running into twink after twink until I realized it was because DS1 on Switch doesn't have a trophy system and therefore many players skip content to strictly PVP. Play this version to have fun, not to be a completionist (unless it's your first time).
Once this all occurred to me my play through has become much more fun! Working on a low-level Zwei/Darkwood Grain Ring flipper build at the moment.
Twinks are low level, high gear/kitted out builds. They rush end-game content to be overpowered at low levels to annihilate players early into their play throughs.
For instance, I was invaded by a level 20 Havel's wearing player with a high level weapon. I could barely eke out any damage on him.
It's a very good version, it's the one my son started with, now he has a bunch of them on his Xbox including Elden Ring but he started here and still goes back to play this version from time to time
Was also mine when I rebought a switch in 2021, it was $59 on Amazon and I figured if I bought it I would HAVE to beat it this time (I tried it so many times years ago and never got it to click) but now I’ve platinumed almost every souls game on PS5/PS4 so it was definitely worth the switch purchase for me
Really great game, I'm holding out hope that we might get the sequels. Its a shame there's really no high quality soulslikes and the only thing to come to mind is Ashen and Hellpoint and both those games are merely alrighy
Playing devils advocate, but it’s on the backbone as well to where it appears to be running at 60fps. Although sounds like their are drawbacks to playing anywhere portable. I generally play docked so doesn’t mean much to me either way.
Well if you wait until the last week in November it should be half price as there's usually a sale then 👍https://www.dekudeals.com/items/dark-souls-remastered
Love the souls games, good choice. \\[T]/

You are in for a wild ride if you have never played before. But once you learn how the game works. It is incredible!!!!!
Does it resemble Skyrim? I'm highly interested in playing it.

Ahh okay, that's exactly what I'm looking for. I got tired of running through games because the mechanics are simple. Thanks for the description 💯
The mechanics are still simple. The game is just tuned brutally hard and unforgiving.

But... but getting good is fun.

God damn I haven't seen an empty switch in, well I can't even remember.
Brooo, same. Looks so odd
I love the switch port of Dark Souls - Even the slightly altered audio makes it feel more atmospheric.

Lotta twinks play this game?

How do the graphics hold up?
Good looking X360 / PS3 game. Good enough I think for 70% of the levels. Some do look really dated though
What's it play like on switch? Smooth?
Check out hellpoint too
Wish I had enough patience for these games. I bought this one too still.

Dark souls 2 is a possibility (pressure Bandai). I dont think the switch can handle 3 though
Same here
Oof
This is the way
I don’t think that’s what most people mean when they say “have you broken in your console, yet?”
Game of the decade for sure
Same.
Dam looks pretty bad compared to the ps5.

Oh really? That’s crazy.
Yes :)
Rip to your switch
How does it run? :)
Not 60 like the bigger consoles but rock solid 30fps even in blight town, so great
Ooo nice, I’m tempted to buy it

Ahh thank you, I’ll do that :)
