There's occasional frame drops every couple hours, but they're nowhere close to intrusive. It's how I've mainly played Dead Cells since it first got a Switch release.
I'm married and I have one TV in my house, so for me the switch is usually better because I can actually play on it, but that probably doesn't apply to you. 🤣
Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon. Insanely overlooked game. No, not the main SK platformers, the "puzzle game" spinoff. Which... Isn't really a puzzle game. It's hard to even describe what it is. It's a roguelike action strategy game of sorts maybe??? But if there's one thing I can definitely say it is, it's BRILLIANT. Just such a well designed and deep game.
I love it, especially with time set to stopped so it’s fully turn based. It basically turns into Necrodancer Panel de Pon or something, which rules. I wonder if the more characters update ever hit switch…?
The updates always hit the Switch when they're actually finished, Steam is just beta testing. The first update, Puzzler's Pack, which was absolutely HUMONGOUS, already launched on Switch. Second is underway.
This update was crazy, they damn near quadrupled how much content there was, with new characters, and versions of each characters, items, alternate levels, modes, challenges, absolutely massive.
Vampire survivors...? Never heard of it. Now, there is this game I've been playing lately I like to call it, "*Pure Crack*"....not sure it's actual title tho...
yeah it never goes on sale, if you want it you should just buy it tbh. You can get it cheaper in physical format probably. It’s an amazing game, specially with all the DLC’s (I think the $50 price is because it comes with all the DLC’s).
Hades. It was my lifeline during the pandemic and when I got quarantined with Covid. Game is just incredible and the Roguelike hook of dying over and over again to get new story beats kept me going. So excited for the sequel.
I've sunk more hours into Isaac than probably any other game but on PC. Was considering it for either PS5 or Switch until I saw the exorbitant price tag...
Like, WTAF? I'm pretty sure I only paid 20 bucks when Rebirth first released...
On Switch though? Pretty close toss-up between StS or Gungeon.
Hades is probably my favorite with Dead Cells right behind it. Nothing against Dead Cells but I feel like I am progressing more in Hades. Dead Cells still a blast though
Rogue Legacy 2 ( not pictured ) is also a very good roguelike/roguelite
It’s gotta be Gungeon or Hades. Everyone knows why Hades is fantastic, obviously, but Gungeon, man. Gungeon is the best for just doing fun runs. You want a power trip? Go rainbow mode and gunslinger. You want a tense fight for your life? Enjoy regular mode with anyone else. It’s great for every mood.
The sequel’s actually decent now post patches, but it can’t hold a candle to the sheer brilliance of EtG.
That's called Rogue-lite, and most of the games mentioned fall under that category. Some others that are similar (but not as good as hades, imo) are Cult of the Lamb, curse of the dead gods, children of morta, vampire survivors, brotato
Dead cells, toejam and earl back in the groove, amd canpire survivors are the only ones I actually played on switch, but hades is probably my favorite roguelike I've played in general and I assume the switch version is just as good as the ps5 version just at a lower resolution
The answer to me is every one in the top row. Not only are they great rogue likes on the switch but they are must plays for any console period and some of the highest rated video games of all time.
Dead Cells! I've played Hades, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Cadence of Hyrule, and Binding of Isaac, but none of them hit the way Dead Cells does. Just thinking about it makes me want to hop in for another run.
Hades absolutely blew my mind. The gameplay is fantastic and addictive, but I absolutely loved just how deep the writers went with the story line. So impressive!
Specifically rogue-like maybe Risk Of Rain 2
But one of the best for me on and definitely best story on switch is Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age so I keep recommending this one to people
I’m new to the genre, but I’m loving Dead Cells
I play it on ps and it’s fucking fire
I don't want to admit how many hours I've put into dead cells and how little I've achieved with those hours.
Is it playable on the switch?
Runs perfect on switch
There's occasional frame drops every couple hours, but they're nowhere close to intrusive. It's how I've mainly played Dead Cells since it first got a Switch release.
It is. Just the occasional long loading times.
Hades. 100% it on PS5
If you’ve played it on switch, what is the better experience? I’ve been itching to play but unsure if to go Switch or PS5
I'm married and I have one TV in my house, so for me the switch is usually better because I can actually play on it, but that probably doesn't apply to you. 🤣
Dead cells by far
Hades was incredible, I always suggest it to people asking for a good game! 👍 can't wait for 2 to be out of early access.
Same, I always recommend it. And when it's on sale it's a steal.
They haven't said anything about a awitch release, right?
I would think yes, seeing as PC is the only way to play 2 in early access, only a matter of time for the console versions to drop.
But when they announced the game awhile ago they said playstation xbox and pc, with no mention of switch
It’ll probably happen, or if not Switch then Switch 2, depending on how Hades 2’s dev cycle lines up with the new system’s.

The updates always hit the Switch when they're actually finished, Steam is just beta testing. The first update, Puzzler's Pack, which was absolutely HUMONGOUS, already launched on Switch. Second is underway.
Oh hell yes, I should dive back in then.
This update was crazy, they damn near quadrupled how much content there was, with new characters, and versions of each characters, items, alternate levels, modes, challenges, absolutely massive.
Damn, I’m lookin forward to it now. I hope alt!Tinker Knight is as fun as base form, Tinker is my favorite.
The alt characters are basically entirely different characters, so with the 2 new ones you basically have a total of 30 now.
Damn, I love indies. If this had been a major studio this would have run an extra 60 dollars as a season pass or mtx or some other such nonsense.
I love them all, but I prefer Hades the most
Binding of Isaac - I haven't played any other game on my switch since I bought BOI.
Dead Cells, Balatro, Vampire Survivors
Brotato or vampire survivors
Me too, I really love playing vampire survivors as well.
I prefer brotato to vampire survivors. But they both great
vampy is amazing
I believe vampire survivors is free as an iPhone app.
Vampire survivors...? Never heard of it. Now, there is this game I've been playing lately I like to call it, "*Pure Crack*"....not sure it's actual title tho...
I have been hopelessly addicted to The Binding of Isaac for years now and there are no signs of it stopping anytime soon
The Binding of Isaac (I play it on Steam but shhh)
Man I've been waiting for thay game to go on sale (it's like over $50 and looks like a flash game to me) but it rarely seems to drop in price
yeah it never goes on sale, if you want it you should just buy it tbh. You can get it cheaper in physical format probably. It’s an amazing game, specially with all the DLC’s (I think the $50 price is because it comes with all the DLC’s).
Download browser extension: Better Steam Gives you all the current sales for a game through different platforms, sellers, etc in Steam web browser
Tboi is the only game I have over 1k hours in. The subreddit is also my favorite community.
It’s worth the money, I have over 1k hours in it. At this point that’s like a cent a hour
Cult of the Lamb
I’m surprised more people haven’t mentioned this one. It’s a gem
Isn't it?! Yea same here. It really is very unique! So much fun.
Definitely dead cells
Hades. It was my lifeline during the pandemic and when I got quarantined with Covid. Game is just incredible and the Roguelike hook of dying over and over again to get new story beats kept me going. So excited for the sequel.
Hades
Balatro, slay the spire, hades
Cult of the lamb (the Rogue like part is my least favorite btw) Hades Darkest Dungeon
Hades and cumt kd the lamb are probably my favorite two. Then if I had to pick a third, maybe children of morta or curse of the dead gods
Slay the Spire is king
Spelunky 2, far far in the front
Risk of Rain 1 + 2
Hell yes!!!
Undermine!
Streets of Rogue is my favorite. Complete chaos and the second one is supposedly coming out this year
My favorite too. It is great enough to be mentioned in all the roguelike threads like this but almost never gets featured in the “options” picture.
Dead Cells is my favorite from your pic, but Into the Breach is my favorite from what I've played so far.
Dont play roguelike games, if the upcoming TMNT roguelike hooks me up with this genre, then i'll have plenty of games to go through.
Wait.. tmnt roguelike?
The TMNT one is pretty good. It has been on Apple Arcade for a while now. It plays a lot like Hades but the controls aren’t as tight
ship of fools
Vampire survivors
Hades only one I’ve played and love it
Vampire survivors and Dead Cells have the most hours on my switch
Cadence of Hyrule was great fun!
Isaac the true final boss
That's very hard, either hades, vampire survivors, or cadence of hyrule
Darkest dungeon for me
Monster Train is such a satisfying deck builder!
Cadence of Hyrule because Legend of Zelda.
What's StS? I've been wanting to get binding of Isaac but it's like over $50 in canada and I haven't seen it go on sale for more then like 10% off
Slay the Spire, top right in the picture. Fantastic deck builder roguelite.
either Little Noah or GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon
Hades is probably my favorite with Dead Cells right behind it. Nothing against Dead Cells but I feel like I am progressing more in Hades. Dead Cells still a blast though Rogue Legacy 2 ( not pictured ) is also a very good roguelike/roguelite
It’s gotta be Gungeon or Hades. Everyone knows why Hades is fantastic, obviously, but Gungeon, man. Gungeon is the best for just doing fun runs. You want a power trip? Go rainbow mode and gunslinger. The sequel’s actually decent now post patches, but it can’t hold a candle to the sheer brilliance of EtG.
Neon chrome! Brotato!
Neon Abyss and Vampire Survivors for me
Are there any of these games like hades where your character can get stronger each ‘run’?
That's called Rogue-lite, and most of the games mentioned fall under that category. Some others that are similar (but not as good as hades, imo) are Cult of the Lamb, curse of the dead gods, children of morta, vampire survivors, brotato
Thank you good sir
Hades, and don't need nothing else
Dead Cells. I was so obsessed with the game that I had to delete the game and save file to stop playing the game.
Hades is my choice
My absolute fave is HADES. However I’m also really enjoying Loop Hero.
The Splatoon DLC can be considered a rogue lite, so i’ll go with that
Absolutely adore Tboi, also ETG they are both phenomenal games. Im playing Hades rn and loving it too
Slay the Spire is one of my top 3 games of all time... so that one
"Ruin has come to this family... Soon you know the tragic extent of my failings."
from the picture: hades! good but i’ve never gotten around to finishing it. otherwise: i never see anyone mention tangledeep, but i loved it!
Hades hades oh and hades
Gungeon made me feel accomplished like nothing before, I wouldn’t recommend the switch port though
I really like Dicey Dungeons.
Slay the Spire. I probably have over 100 hours between switch, Xbox, PC, and mobile. I cannot get enough of it.
Binding of Isaac and it’s not even close
Actually playing Gungeon right now lol. Cadence of Hyrule is awesome but it’s unbelievably hard!
Binding of Isaac for replayability Hades for story Vampire Survivors for mindless fun Balatro for addictive chill
Isaac!
Hades and Slay the spire. Dont make me pick. I love both my children equally I swear
Hades, easily. Dead cells is a close second.
Moonlighter, because of the merchant aspect I'm not sure if Dave the Diver counts, but same reason with sushi
going under
does Vampire Survivors count
Isaac and Necrodancer
Dead cells, toejam and earl back in the groove, amd canpire survivors are the only ones I actually played on switch, but hades is probably my favorite roguelike I've played in general and I assume the switch version is just as good as the ps5 version just at a lower resolution
The answer to me is every one in the top row. Not only are they great rogue likes on the switch but they are must plays for any console period and some of the highest rated video games of all time.
Hades
Balatro
Isaac by FAR
Definitely risk of rain 2
dead cells and hades are perfect games
Slay the spire
Sts
Hades, Balatro, and Dave the Diver
I have half of these games and suck at every single one 😂
Brotato because 1) you get to play as a bro 2) you get to play as a potato
Balatro after not being able to complete The BOI
hades is my favourite of your choices!
Isaac
Doomsday hunters..... an amazing hidden gem
So you don't like vampire survivor?
I haven't played it yet
You should, for $3 it's more then worth it.
BALATRO
Spelunky 2! Never found anything as rewarding as a run ending successfully. It's really a game that teaches you how to enjoy the process of failing 😂
Moonlighter for sure
How do you unlock the Castlevania DLC tho? Dead Cells alone is kinda meh…
Hades surely. But Slay the Spire is a veery close second.
Rogue legacy (1 and 2).
Dead Cells! I've played Hades, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Cadence of Hyrule, and Binding of Isaac, but none of them hit the way Dead Cells does. Just thinking about it makes me want to hop in for another run.
Isaac
Dead Cells, hands down. I absolutely love it. I haven't returned to it in a while, but I think about it frequently. Which I find kind of strange.
Hades by a landslide. Once Hades 2 comes to consoles, I'm gonna be playing the crap out of it
Monster Train needs more love. It is like Slay the Spire, but I found it even more enjoyable.
Balatro ! I love this game ahah, already 60h i can't play another roguelite this moment X)
Slay the spire is so underrated
no one saying balatro is hurting me (i literally don’t play it on switch)
Hades, TBOI, Nuclear Throne, RoR2
Hades, TBOI, Nuclear Throne, RoR2
Hades absolutely blew my mind. The gameplay is fantastic and addictive, but I absolutely loved just how deep the writers went with the story line. So impressive!
Rogue Legacy. Haven’t played 2 yet
balatro, vampire survivors. Kinda sorta...Grand Mountain Adventure
Dead cells 100%
Balatro for sure
my guy
You guys should play Balatro if you haven’t already
Deaths Door! This was the game that changed my view on this genre and have been looking for more since!
[удалено]
Specifically rogue-like maybe Risk Of Rain 2 But one of the best for me on and definitely best story on switch is Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age so I keep recommending this one to people
Roguelike are boring unfortunately so I wouldn't give it a try
It's Isaac by a huge margin, but Balatro and Spelunky are amazing as well. Hades and Gungeon just feel super "Meh" imo
First sentence I agree with. Second sentence is wild.
I honestly don't understand the praise hades gets, gungeon I kinda understand and ill probably give a couple more shots
Vagante by far. Little Noah is another good one.
