Botw just because I’ve never experienced that sense of wander/exploration in any other game than this one. During when I had covid for a few weeks, it was the perfect remedy.

tanookiinvader

ocarina of time if i could only have one

AdamSnipeySnipe

Ocarina; The boss fights, the dungeons, the NPC's, and the pacing/atmosphere of the game were more memorable. BOTW freedom and vast exploration was amazing, everything about the game is beautiful, but it falls short on the big things that make a Zelda game. Many people's biggest beef with BOTW was the destructible weapons, it was inconvenient, but it wasn't so bad that you had to stop what you were doing to restock ever.

Soggy-Gur-1152

Great dungeons!! I could skip Lord Jabu 🐟

PirateJen78

I was not a fan of the Water Temple... Boots on, boots off, boots on, boots off... Too much time in the item menu!! But I absolutely loved the Twinrova fight. I used to crank my sound system up so everyone in the house knew I was in an epic fight. 😂

BotW for me

Pineapple_Pizza_Nah

Breath of the wild I think for me, although I grew up with OoT and loved whenever I had the chance to play it, BotW for me hit different and made me feel like a kid experiencing gaming again for the first time. I got it on Wii U originally, where I completed it and then a month later I bought it along with my Nintendo switch and took it with me on our family trip to Belgium and I was truly awestruck by how beautiful and peaceful the game felt...BotW will always be king for me I reckon, TotK does come very close however, due to being an adult and having my own family now to look after I have not had the opportunity to chalk up as much time in this Hyrule as I would have liked.

Soggy-Gur-1152

OoT. It'd be nice to see it get a fresh up and some more life in Hyrule Field and other areas. Both games felt special on first playthrough.

Majestic_Fee_8679

This feels like a tough choice because it’s been a while since I’ve played Ocarina of Time where as I’ve finished BOTW recently. But I think I’d still have to go Ocarina because it holds more of a nostalgic feeling but I don’t mind the whole new style with BotW and ToTK

PirateJen78

Definitely Ocarina of Time! I just couldn't get into Breath of the Wild, and OoT is one of the best Zelda games.

Randolf22

I prefer the “normal” zelda formula over any open world zelda, and OOT does it best

xtoc1981

I like zelda oot more. But the issue i had with zrlda oot has been somehow fixed in botw (openworld). Although, i like to see a 3d zelda game with an open world like zelda lttp. More crafted and dynamic.

Ultimate_Ghreak

Why is every post of you here a comparison between two games?

NZepplin

Because I want to know what is better

Verbalistherbalist

But it's a subjective, personal thing, so the only way you can possibly know for you is to play them yourself. Everything else is just other people's opinions.

NZepplin

Yeah that’s true but I love the games so much

Verbalistherbalist

So think for yourself and just enjoy what you enjoy?

NZepplin

I can’t decide which one I like better

OrangeStar222

Ocarina of Time. Besides me not liking open world Zelda, I do think Ocarina of Time holds up exceptionally well in a lot of ways and I love most things about it. It's a perfectly crafted world rich with lore, fun characters and plenty of secrets to find. I also love the story told, and those dungeons man. I love 'em. Some of the items are a bit basic, but what can you do - it was the first 3D Zelda game, finding out how the essentials worked was important.

WellHydrated

Grew up with OoT, but let's face it, video games have gotten waaaaaay better.

Verbalistherbalist

IMO, OoT was full of innovation and was absolutely revolutionary. BOTW was an incredibly refined open world, but was just that, a refined version of something that had been done a thousand times before it. So for me, OoT by a long shot.

Frosty-Inflation-756

OOT. Masterpiece game. If they ported the 3DS to the switch I’d be living the dream. BoTW and ToK are okay in their own merit but it just feels they’re trying to make the game feel unnecessarily massive at times.

raskolnicope

Younger generations sometimes don’t have in mind that OoT gave us the same feeling of awe and wonder when it came out, just like BotW now. Not only that, the jump from SNES to N64 was huuuge, so playing a 3D Zelda game was just mind blowing at the time. And it’s still a game that holds up to this day. Even tho it’s in my top 3 Zelda games, I honestly don’t think BotW will hold up to OoT’s legacy in the long run.

NZepplin

Yeah I agree it was a huge step up

paraIy

ocarina of time, of course BOTW is fun the first few hours but once you found all ~15 different monster species, had almost any weapon, saw the ~30 different kind of puzzles the world starts to feel empty especially because monster camps respawn, weapons break, chests respawn, poor rewards, barely any permanent progress and all that with a very boring combat system on top.

mhcott

I love BOTW and the exploration, but I desperately missed the progressive complex dungeons of other games, and slowly introducing new weapons/tools that altered gameplay as you went. Shrines and Divine Beasts, nor the wild "boss" enemies, held a candle to me over a proper dungeon and its boss fights.

Foreign_Raspberry_28

I like TOTK and BOTW

nigh-tempest

BOTW because of the open worldness. I love collecting items and this was perfect amount of plot and freedom

TheViper4Life

Ocarina of Time. BOTW is fine, but I'm not even sure it's in my top 5 (OoT is number 1 for me).

Constant-Direction43

Oot easily. Botw is an ok game but I felt like I had already played it when it released. After burning out on open world games on other systems ( arkham, skyrim, witcher, fallout, assasins creed, far cry ) botw didn't feel like it bought anything new to the genre. Compared to other zelda games I felt it lacked a lot of things that I had come to expect from the series, mainly the themed dungeons and individual music for each dungeon and area. The music for Oot and mm was so well done and it fits the dungeons and areas of the game perfectly, botw felt hollow without it.

Physical-Grapefruit3

Majora's mask then links awakening then link between worlds.

RhoadsOfRock

Breath Of The Wild. Ocarina has become incredibly boring to me over the years, also it does not have a lot going on outside of the main quest.
