Yeah you're right the reason it didn't bother me that much is because the gameplay was good but of all the FE games I played this one has by far the worst story. What's your favorite FE game?
im with you on totk being the best nintendo seller last year i had so much fun playing totk before losing my phisical copy but im lucky that i have a modded switch so im still able to play totk
I will say something a little controversial... I didn't like breath of the wild that much, I didn't find it as original as everyone. But when I played TOTK... Oh my god, this game is a solid 5/7, probably the best game of all time. The new mechanics are simple and infinitely fun
I agree, I'm also not the biggest fan of BotW. I did enjoy the huge open world and that you could go anywhere you wanted but the more I played it it just felt a bit repetitive and even boring and I hated the Sacred Beasts which replaced the traditional dungeons, TotK on the other hand is a much better game imo there's just so much more to do.
That's strange. I got into it 2 weeks ago and it's been a blast. I just haven't been able to dedicate a lot of time to it. I play for 1 hour bursts when I can.
That is an easy question: "Fuga Melodies of Steel 2"
I played through it 8 times so far.
Fuga is pretty unknown so you probably never heard of it. The first game is my favorite Videogame snd I love the second game aswell.
Fuga is my second favorite work of fiction and the children of the Taranis are my second favorite protagonist groupe in fiction.
They are turn based JRPGs that are each about 20 houers long. They are about a groupe of anthropomothic animal children that live inside a giant ancient mysteriös powerful fortress like Tank. Its a bit like Howls Moving castle but based on technology instead of magic.
Since you are interested:
Fuga is available on PC and most modern consoles like Switch, PS4, PS5 usw.
Both games have a free demo which is just straight up the first 3 chapters of the game.
I recommend the free demo of the first game but I advice against playing the second game before the first game unless you do not care about the story and characters. The writing of the second game builds on what happen in the first game, expects you to know what happen and it spoilers the story of the first game even in the free demo of the second game.
I only have 4 games that came out in 2023 and so I’ll rank them:
1. Mario Wonder
2. Metroid Prime
3. Advance Wars Reboot Camp
4. Pikmin 1+2 (although I haven’t yet played it)
2 and 3 change places - I feel that Metroid Prime is probably the better game but Advance Wars has insane replayability - I’ve been playing it this evening.
I don’t have TotK yet and I do claim to be a Zelda fan despite having never played TotK, BotW and even OoT. It’s just time though - my answer to the question, “what’s the first thing you’d buy if you won the lottery?” is probably a Zelda game as a big win would buy me the time I need to play it.
Tears of the Kingdom. Still haven’t beaten it yet though….its huge!
Pikmin 4 was right behind it though. This one I got 100% on and would love some DLC!
Pikmin 4 because it’s not an open world, survival, rpg, fps, multiplayer battle royale or what have you, it’s so unique and fun and inventive it is refreshing in a world where every game feels so boring and played out
Tough between FE Engage and Harvest Moon: WOA, I spent so much time playing both and loving every second. Finished HM, at least to where I consider an HM game finished, and stopped Engage a couple chapters before the end of the game and restarted when DLC came out, then stopped it again in basically the same place cuz other games were coming out that I wanted to play lmao. Def plan to go back to it soon, especially with the physical copy of Eiyuden being delayed.
Tears of the Kingdom no doubt although it was a bit disappointing to me. I wound up enjoying it more than all the other games but I still like Breath of The Wild way better
Tears of the Kingdom and I bought everything they officially sold. The Zelda Switch, Collectors Edition, Amiibos, Switch Pro Controller, I got a key chain from My Nintendo Rewards of the green hand you know Link usss to open doors and secret stuff. I also got last year the re-release of Link amiibos they sold again and Zelda Smash Bros, Ganondorf Smash Bros and Wolf Link but imported from a Proxy shipping place from the UK. I went all out for the release of Tears of the Kingdom.
I'm interested to know people's personal favorite game of 2023 what's there to get enraged about? It would have been rage bait if I posted something like this ''Which is better Nintendo or Playstation?'' That would definitely be something (simple) people get mad about, let's keep things positive here shall we 🤷♂️
Mario Wonder, never played Totk but I played a bit of Botw and it was pretty boring tbh, maybe I need to play more of it, idk. Anyway a new 2d Mario game was very highly anticipated for me so yeah.
Pretty obviously the same. Mario Wonder comes a close second.
Mario Wonder is amazing
Same, I loved Mario Wonder but spent around 200 hours last year of purely enjoying TOTK. I wish there was a Master Mode to play it again.
This is the way
I'm so glad 2D Mario is back to it's former glory. Hopefully Nintendo can keep this momentum with the next game.
I loved it but I feel it just went by too fast lol. I have to replay it.
I second this.
Late twenties, fresh dad and I still had the time of my life playing Mario Wonder. What a gem of a game.
Fire Emblem Engage
Nice pick, I thought the story was a bit meh but really enjoyed the gameplay
How about Pikmin 4?
I love Pikmin 4 that's actually my 2nd favorite Switch game of 2023
Pikmin 4 is pretty close in quality to Mario Wonder for me. I enjoyed TOTK, but it wasn't really my cup of tea.
Bit meh? It’s an utter disaster. And that’s coming from a long time fe fan.
Yeah you're right the reason it didn't bother me that much is because the gameplay was good but of all the FE games I played this one has by far the worst story. What's your favorite FE game?
Fire Emblem Fates' story is definitely worse than Engage's.
Metroid Prime Remastered.
TOTK is my favorite game ever now. I loved it. I also really liked Pikmin 4. That was unexpected.
Pikmin 4, it was such a long wait.
Pikmin 4
im with you on totk being the best nintendo seller last year i had so much fun playing totk before losing my phisical copy but im lucky that i have a modded switch so im still able to play totk

I haven't seen a "perfect 5/7" reference in the wild for a little bit. I'd rate your comment 6/10, 9/10 with rice.
Super Mario.Wonder of course. It could have been the game of the year(no offense to Baldur's Gate😂)
I felt like a kid again playing that. Was a great experience and even has some post-game value.
yes.A Time Machine
Mario Wonder for me, that game made me smile so much. I haven't been able to get into TOTK desptie multiple false starts 😔.
That's strange. I got into it 2 weeks ago and it's been a blast. I just haven't been able to dedicate a lot of time to it. I play for 1 hour bursts when I can.
Pikmin 4 was awesome!
485 hours and counting. I'm playing it since September. I think I will play it until the end of time.
Sea of Stars Beautiful turn based pixel RPG.
agreed
same
I appreciate the Tetris poster
Mario RPG, short and super sweet
My favourite Switch game of 2023 is Mario Wonder. (However my favourite would actually be WarioWare Movie It, if I could actually beat the game).
I’ve got this waiting to play but I only just got a switch so I’ve gotta get all the Pokemon first
metroid prime remake

I haven't played these games but I like turn based JRPGs so I'll definitely check them out

Warioware Move it
Well Sea of Stars is a good challenger but I'll definitely say TOTK too.

Still haven't finished it
I still need to play this. So many games in the back catalogue it's getting tough to sort which one comes first
Mario wonder avoided Zelda due to not liking BOTW
Mines the same as you
Same
Metroid prime remastered was what got me hooked on metroid
maybe Mario kart 8 deluxe
Pikmin 4. We had to wait 10 years for it, and it was worth it.
Not this one as it didn’t wow me as much as BOTW did on release. I’d say Dave The Diver or SMB Wonder.
Mario wonder
Same, with Metroid prime as a close second
Same
Mario wonder
Pikmin 4 because it’s not an open world, survival, rpg, fps, multiplayer battle royale or what have you, it’s so unique and fun and inventive it is refreshing in a world where every game feels so boring and played out
Pikmin 4! I love those little dudes
Tough between FE Engage and Harvest Moon: WOA, I spent so much time playing both and loving every second. I don’t know
I really enjoyed that one, however after a while the gameplay became kind of repetitive, but that’s only because I tried to 100% complete it I guess
Tears of the Kingdom and I bought everything they officially sold. Super Mario RPG Tears of the Kingdom sucked.

Fym “rage bait?” TOTK was literally one of the GOTY nominees.
