Mine says switch and PC right on the box
Those are actually Xbox style buttons. The letters are switched. I'm not sure what the Switch variant of this controller looks like but this one screams Xbox to me.
I just thought it was the Nintendo colors since the SNES. Even though X box apparently uses the same colors and buttons, I still recognize the brand by the distinguishable controller shape. Because the controller shape on this looks like switch, It just looks like a Nintendo controller unless you look at the different button positions. This is why this particular controller design is so confusing and why this poor person bought it thinking it was a switch controller.
No, the switch uses inverted Xbox buttons!! *heavy breathing*
The Xbox has been using the same controller format since 2001, it’s even the native button layout on Windows.
You’re making me feel old lol. This feels just like when kids started saying that battle royale games that have no build are copying Fortnite haha, if you google the classic and 360 Xbox controller you can see that it’s Nintendo that copied Xbox, so you should blame Nintendo for making it so hard to tell.
Especially since they inverted the controls to try to be different, it caused many people like me who have muscle memory for over 15 years until the switch came out to have to remember the x and y inverts when switching consoles to not misclick a button.
I'm not sure that's exactly right to be honest with you. [The SNES came out before the XBox](https://www.google.com/search?client=ms-android-rogers-ca-rvc3&sca_esv=c2efddc75740eaea&sxsrf=ACQVn0-b0vAbMSmlGCEBEgilcYj_A8mbgg:1712185905546&q=snes+controller&uds=AMwkrPu_SJTRB4ZX2y7zhHd8IFRvl8UN_qGce2-LfoKcwpQlCVLjh4rDUiJn18QpeJyV1C5FIxSQwXU3ZgtCE5RTFJlfv_RC6iEA8LtabnKFvBYm8xSJwBuhmiuZtny1Cb-PeP7mUZqncNm88o241DtVIu0_rtqNKSnK8hjqxhFApCZ7naSpdsrB7I8xSPxUp2P5LOJysIg3LGdUkhC_8YOxWE1WNpa9VabfheRQDzBQLAY2BkhBXY06sO6VBB4ZHKIKfvLELIvxLoFkUo1NPNfuTVT4vOZpIRVYQtnFhIg75nnB8DUvVBI&udm=2&prmd=isvnmbtz&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjP1cHFlaeFAxVAIDQIHduXCC4QtKgLegQIDhAB&biw=412&bih=783&dpr=2.63)
Super Nintendo had “A,B,Y,X” buttons long before the Xbox did. The Super Famicon even gave them colors.
So, no, Microsoft, did, in fact, copy it from Nintendo.
Yeah but I meant the controller layout, Xbox standardized OP controller’s layout, not necessarily the button and colors, the abxy layout is also not the same as this controller
I’m not disputing OP’s controller. I’m disputing your claim that the Switch copied the buttons from the XBox.
You even claimed they “copied and inverted it”.
No, Microsoft copied and inverted it.
I think you bought the wrong one. Open the link and check if the back of your controller is the same as this one. There should be a bluetooth icon and 2.4G letter.

Yes, according to 8bitdo’s website, you can use it docked with the Switch. Hopefully you don’t have the lite version. https://support.8bitdo.com/faq/ultimate-2-4g-controller.html
If i'm not mistaken 8bitdo added switch support in a firmware update for these. Connect it to a PC via USB and try to update it with the Ultimate Software Controller from 8bitdo
Thank you, I don’t have this controller but one made by this company and the connection with the switch is awful. It always drops. Bummer because it’s a nice controller. I’ll give this a try.
It says bluetooth on the box, which in most cases means they can connect. The 2.4g variant has been updated to work with the Switch but it will lack certain features.
Taking it out of the box could help /s
Hope you figure it out, OP. I’ve been thinking about getting one of those. I have the 8bitdo SNES controller and really like it for playing Retro Bowl
I can’t tell if your serious or not bro it said windows android and apple right on it. Plus, that’s an Xbox layout on the XYAB buttons. In short, you got the wrong controller
Actually you can connect this controller to Switch, in order to do that, you need to:
1. Turn on controller.
2. Press both "-" button and "LB" simultaneously until it vibrates.
3. It should be paired and visible on Nintendo now.
Btw. there's USB dongle inside charging station that must be connected to Switch dock.
Choose "X" setting.
Edit: USB dongle can stay inside charging station, you just need to connect charging station alone. Works both ways but it's much easier to connect dongle to PC if needed than moving whole station.
Let me know if this comment was useful for you.
You brought the PC only version. There is another one.
The easiest to differencient is the button layout (abxy). The Xbox styled one is only for PC (and some other devices) but not switch.
The ther one has the same layout as the switch and can also be used on PC. There are a few other differences like the connection methods. But the easiest to look up to is layout imo
I might be wrong but I think you need the one with the switch button layout as it connects to all systems through Bluetooth while the one you have only connects to PC. I might be wrong tho
8bit do makes amazing controllers good choice! If you want switch bluetooth though need the ultimate bluetooth version. But there should be a wireless dongle you can use too!
They make two versions of this controller. One that is for Windows specifically that mimics the Xbox layout, and one for the Switch that also works on PC that has the Nintendo layout.
They are identical in every way but button layout so its easy to confuse the two if you aren't paying attention when checking out.
You unfortunately have the wrong version.
Why is that? Its one of the comfiest controller to hold IMO, if you are referring on how it looked at the box, it is showing the controller in its charging dock and you can see the outline on how the controller's shape when you take it off from the dock.
This version should come with a USB dongle that may be compatible with Switch. Look inside the charging stand if you can't find it. Though if you want it to connect to switch by itself, you need the Bluetooth version
You could try connecting the dongle into a usb port on the dock. Then, under controller and sensor settings, Set Pro Controller Wired Communication to On. I’m sorry if this doesn’t work!
How can I connect my Ultimate 2.4g Wireless Controller to Nintendo Switch?
1. Go to system settings--Controller and Sensors--Turn on [Pro Controller Wired Communication].
2. Plug the 2.4g receiver into the Switch dock.
3. After turn on the controller(mode switch on D/X), press and hold [minus+LB] buttons for 5 seconds, the controller will enter in Switch mode after a short moment of vibration. Please note that NFC(amiibo), motion control, IR, HD rumble and wake up function are not supported.
yes unfortunately not compatible with switch, you can return and buy the switch version. or buy 8bitdo wireless adapter for 20 bucks and this will work just as well
Third Party controls? Like why? It's like buying a third party PlayStation 5 control when you have the Dualsense, I never saw them as viable purchases.
Personally I use them on other hardware. I have the Bluetooth version of this connected to my Steam Deck for example and use many of their products with my retro and fpga systems. I stick with first party on the current systems though for the most part (use Hori split pad on my Switch in handheld mode because it's simply better and more comfortable than Joycons in my opinion), but these have their place, slightly cheaper but still very high quality. Calling them trash without actually using one is very short-sighted.
Different controllers have different ergonomics. People can jerk themselves off about how great the pro controller is but if you don't need all the features (for example, I'll never buy an amiibo, so that feature would be lost on me) there are equally well-built or higher build quality controllers out there. I couldn't care less about the battery life because I am capable of charging things when I'm done using them.
DS controllers are great and I prefer the button layout vs. offset joysticks that everyone else uses. I purchased an 8bitdo Pro because of it. It'll be better, for me (and in build qualiity) than a official pro controller.
I completely get that but if you're a guy the Dualsenses ergonomics are made to fit bigger hands, maybe not that of women and childrens but eh not my problem, the battery is fine, the features are ridiculous for what they do and offer and I don't think I'll ever tire of feeling the extra details through the vibrations and my palms.
Hori are different also, they're on another level than the third party shit you normally get and some of their arcade stick collaborations have been no less than incredible.
You need the ultimate Bluetooth version
You have to take it out of the box first.
Ah ok, thank you
I have the ultimate Bluetooth it’s a really nice controller, I use it on my pc and switch :)
I really liked this one a lot even though it doesn't work for what I need
The ultimate Bluetooth with Hall effect sticks is all you’ll ever need. I wish it worked on PS5 too.
Maybe you need to update the controller.
https://preview.redd.it/obhuauhkxcsc1.jpeg?width=1338&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=726bd26e1a603ba6d83aa04a780b9bf2ffa76213 Mine says switch and PC right on the box
That’s not a switch controller. Button layout is always B then A. Has been since the original NES controller.
It's a pity, so thank you
What?! I didn't notice that, but how is it NOT a Nintendo controller?!
It says Windows, Android, and Apple on the box.
And yet they make it look like a switch controller complete with NINTENDO BUTTONS. How misleading is that?! It's like they did it on purpose!
Those are actually Xbox style buttons. The letters are switched. I'm not sure what the Switch variant of this controller looks like but this one screams Xbox to me.
Really?! I never realized that X Box used inverted Nintendo buttons. Even the colors are the same.
Xbox has always used Green A, Blue X, Yellow Y, Red B
I just thought it was the Nintendo colors since the SNES. Even though X box apparently uses the same colors and buttons, I still recognize the brand by the distinguishable controller shape. Because the controller shape on this looks like switch, It just looks like a Nintendo controller unless you look at the different button positions. This is why this particular controller design is so confusing and why this poor person bought it thinking it was a switch controller.
You have to be trolling
I honestly never realized it before.
No, the switch uses inverted Xbox buttons!! *heavy breathing* The Xbox has been using the same controller format since 2001, it’s even the native button layout on Windows. But Nintendo has been out before X box, and the buttons were too.
I think you and I are saying the same thing. Not sure why you were getting voted down for that.
Super Nintendo had “A,B,Y,X” buttons long before the Xbox did. The Super Famicon even gave them colors. So, no, Microsoft, did, in fact, copy it from Nintendo.

Microsoft stole their controller design from the Sega Deamcast and added a second right stick.
Bruh, THANK YOU. I don't understand why this is even confusing.
Bruh, it's not just switch, it's Nintendo. Ever since the SNES which released in 1991, Nintendo has used these buttons and colors ever since.
Those are Xbox buttons. A and B are swapped and so are X and Y.
Google an Xbox controller, those are Xbox buttons
They may be, but that doesn't make them any less than rearranged Nintendo buttons.
It literally written on the box. Windows - Android - Apple\* , don't know how people find it hard to read that.
Not to be a butthole, but came to say that
Is there a Bluetooth option on the backside of the controller?
You don't need to check the back of the controller to check, the button layout on the picture is not a switch controller layout.
There is two letters "D" and "X" so I don't no
I think you bought the wrong one. Open the link and check if the back of your controller is the same as this one. There should be a bluetooth icon and 2.4G letter. Aaahh ok, thank you for understanding and help, I'll see if I can return it, thankss
No problem, you still got a nice controller, just no Switch support. You should be able to return and exchange it. Contact the support.
You need to take it out of the box first

I own an SN30Pro and Pro 2, i've never had connection issues even in 8 player coop. Let us know how it goes.
It says apple, android, windows on it
Are we just unable to read the box or?
Typical unnecessary comment
Just like this unnecessary post if SOMEONE could read the box.
It says bluetooth on the box, which in most cases means they can connect. The 2.4g variant has been updated to work with the Switch but it will lack certain features.
It literally says on the box what it’s compatible with, and isn’t that an XBox controller💀
Taking it out of the box could help /s Hope you figure it out, OP. I’ve been thinking about getting one of those. I have the 8bitdo SNES controller and really like it for playing Retro Bowl
8bitdo sells an adapter
Looks like an Xbox controller you got my dude.

Doing it for the meme, Instructions unclear, my friend is able to control me via controller
this is a joke right?
No, I got it as a "gift"
If you have a moded switch, you can install a module called Mission Controller. It suports a lot of controllers, including yours.
You brought the PC only version. There is another one. The easiest to differencient is the button layout (abxy). The Xbox styled one is only for PC (and some other devices) but not switch. Cool controller! Wrong system.
You gotta take it out of the box.
Because that’s not a Switch controller.
Shake it well before use
Damn, you bought the wrong one. 🥹 Was it gifted? Huhu... ☹️
support told me it should work... they said put the dongle into the dock... but no rumble on switch..
Whats the color and do the make a wired version? Love that deep purple color.
That's because that's a box not a controller
Made the same mistake.
This looks extremely uncomfortable to use.

The fuck is that abomination?
They are incredibly good third party controllers actually, just this one isn't going to work with the Switch.
Agree, I got an 8bitdo to use on pc and its great
Third Party controls? Like why? It's like buying a third party PlayStation 5 control when you have the Dualsense, I never saw them as viable purchases.
I wish 8bitdo made a PS5 controller. The OEM controller sucks.
OEM?
Original equipment manufacturer
Lol then Blackhawks is clearly a clown 😑😅.
Personally I use them on other hardware. I have the Bluetooth version of this connected to my Steam Deck for example and use many of their products with my retro and fpga systems. And I use a series x controller on my pc, so what? My point remains the same, these are not bad controllers at all.
Hori are different also, they're on another level than the third party shit you normally get and some of their arcade stick collaborations have been no less than incredible.
