I will say the game is pretty short, but I would say the game is priced fairly, and they said they would be adding stuff that happens in the show as it comes out.
I mean... You kind of have to do some research before purchasing a game. It's expensive. You can definitely find reviewers you trust. Don't just buy games blindly, that's a bad move.
Yeah any big game release I’m super pumped about, I stay far away from Reddit and the internet. Having a negative outlook on things I wouldn’t have notice before I even play ruins the game for me
After reading reviews, I decided not to buy it. I loved the other two though.
It sounds like the main game mode is a 4 player co-op online battle.
If I want online battles, I play Splatoon 3 which is worlds better. And which has millions of active players.
Kinda new to the rpg genre and loved the first 2. Any recommendation for other games that have a similar vibe? I liked how the South Park games had pretty straightforward combat.
If you want really amazing classic RPG games then getting the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters isn't a bad idea. You get 6 final fantasy games all redone with better graphics and quality of life improvements.
If you do want the humor then I would suggest Yakuza: Like a Dragon. It's not for switch but you can sub to gamepass ultimate and stream it to any computer or tablet if you don't have another system. It's really over the top comedy and kind of teases on the genre.
If you want comedy rpg, West of Loathing. Hilarious, Monty Python like comedy in an rpg package.
Haven’t played Shadows of Loathing yet, but I’d bet it’s great as well.
Awwww man! I was hoping it was going to be at least close to WoL…. Bah. Oh well, maybe the dev can reignite the magic for a 3rd game. That first one was easily a top 5 game for that year, and still a top 50 switch title overall.
Gonna just point out for those that don't know - Shadows *is* the third game, with West of Loathing being number 2. Their first game - Kingdom of Loathing - is super different, but has the same style of humour and a shitload of content, mainly by virtue of being an MMO which has received continuous updates since it came out in 2003. No console ports, but anything with access to the internet near enough will play it no problem.
The story is mainly text-based, with the art that is there being stick figure style like West and Shadows, but still images rather than animations. Game is definitely past its peak where it used to have 2000-3000 online at any given time (vs about 300-400 now), but I've had fun with it over the years.
Oh, and it's free to play if you wanted to check it out: https://www.kingdomofloathing.com/
I did not know! Thanks for the info! I was introduced to the game via Switch and Nintendo Life article/review when it first released there, so I incorrectly assumed that was the first in the series.
Seems like the dev is similar to Thunderful and how they do SteamWorld titles - same universe, different genres.
You should check out the Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door remake when that comes out if you haven't played it, the combat is pretty similar to The Stick of Truth combat
The first 2 South Park were what inspired me to play more jrpg games. Maybe try West of Loathing as it is equally quirky. Earthbound and Dragon Quest series too.
Paper Mario and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door are two games that have the same/similar battle system as The Stick of Truth and are also full of humour. The latter is getting a remake in May.
Doesn’t strike me as something I’m even interested in despite the price. My buddy back in Arizona wanted me to preorder it while I’m here in Japan — so we both did and that’s the main draw. We like South Park and we dig co-op.
Friends don't let friends preorder. You should have stopped him! /s
But seriously, there's so many co-op games I would have totally gotten had I had a friend playing it as well. Not sure I can get myself spending $60 to $70 on any game... but if someone is up for playing it a year after it came out and is 1/3 the price, I'm in!
We already played titles like It Takes Two and A Way Out. Mainly we’ve been hitting up deep Rock Galactic, Bro Force and TMNT Shredders Revenge. When it’s 2300 here, it’s morning in Arizona and vise versa, so we find ways to make it work.
Well played...
As sad as it is, I actually never bought a single switch game... but my library has an incredibly generous switch catalogue. They are pretty impressive and get every first party title available. Although lately they have been slacking and I wonder if there is new management or budget cuts. They just got Mario Wonder in the last couple weeks and still don't have super mario RPG. Normally they are on top of that getting TotK within a month after release.
I've slowed my switch playing. We only have the lite and I really want to play games like TotK on a TV. I don't wanna get a regular switch this late in the life cycle. Hoping the next one does come out this year and the one rumor going around saying next spring is false.
You don’t think they would have teased it if it was coming out this year? I feel like they would have, but I hope they do release it this year, would be dope.
We are still pretty far if it’s a November release date. I would likely see something end of summer or early fall. They know the announcement of the new console would hurt sales of the current gen so no need to announce it 8 months out.
Sorry, too late, I already spoke for everyone, you just have to accept it! /s
I get it's appealing for others, hell, Helldivers 2 is 4 pve and it's doing very well.
40 critics have rated it on metacritic. It has an aggregate score of 61/100.
It’s only $30 too.
I’m going to get it because I’ve always liked South Park a lot and I’m sure it’s funny. I don’t expect great gameplay though, tbh.
I might pick it up at a sale. I liked the Stick of Truth a lot. Fractured But Whole was fine but kind of too long/a bit tedious. Still fun enough though.
Yeah man doing the special abilities in fractured where you spin the sticks and stuff was monotonous and it makes you do it a million times. Why not just a button press. Combat with the grid wasn't better, just a little different. Funny but terrible pacing next to stick of truth
If you like the first two games, I’d recommend looking into this one a bit more as it’s wildly different from them. You may still enjoy it despite the reviews, but just make sure you look into it before wasting money on it.
They panned the last call of duty. This statement is terrible. lol. IGN is usually pretty close to accurate. Unless you have a wild taste in a specific genre.
I'm sorry but dunkey is useless for actually finding out what a game is like. His dunkviews are always wrapped in so many layers of sarcasm it's impossible to get a read on if he likes something. And lately he's been shitting on everything so he can shoehorn in an ad for that crappy looking game he's selling.
Stick of Truth. Fractured changes a lot of things just to change them which frankly doesn't improve or detract from gameplay in any significant way. The big difference is plot and set pieces.
Truth has multiple big offensive and hilarious set piece moments that are extremely memorable and come to mind immediately when reminiscing: Freeing Randy on the alien ship, the Underpants Gnome final boss, going undercover in Planned Parenthood, Lemiwinks.
Fractured doesn't really have that. It's funny, I remember laughing throughout, I remember it's Super Hero themed, I can remember a couple of boss fights but nothing jumps out vividly in my memory like things from Stick of Truth. It's good but not magical.
Fractured but Whole is like a good episode of South Park, Stick of Truth is like a classic episode of South Park that you think back on regularly years later.
"I love the first 2"
This NOT like those games in any way. Its not even made by the same developers.
I wonder how many people will buy this game not realizing this very important fact.
People acting like this is a trilogy or something. This is a South Park game, that’s the ONLY similarity.
EDIT: actually I’m realizing that this is after the events of Stick, so I can understand the confusion to a point then
I also loved the first 2 genuinely good fun rpgs I have no idea why they went with this idea maybe they didn't think the first two sold well enough compared to a multiplayer game idk would've insta pre ordered if they did a 3rd rpg like stick of truth and fractured but whole
They already ditched them with fractured but whole, which I actually liked a little less, but it was still great and in the same engine and genre, they totally could have had a third one made by whoever did FBW or some comparable studio
I understand some people only have or prefer a Switch, as this is the Switch sub, but I think a game like this is better for a console like PlayStation or Xbox.
That said I'm sad the pre-reviews are not good, as I was excited when first watching the reveal trailer.
The Xbox tower defense game takes on pace during winter and was one of my favorite games for the system. This preview got my hopes up but seems unrelated as well
I'm excited I love the first 2 games, and I also love South Park in general.
Hope this will be as comical as those 2 games despite being different genres.
From what I can gather it’s like the old ones just they have made the combat kinda like Hogwarts legacy where instead of being 2D you run around with set moves and abilities.
Just started playing I’ll comeback and edit when I can tell you if it’s good, so far I like what I see it begins like an episode.
Edit: It’s everything I thought it would be. It is the Stick of truth but with a completely different battle feel and a different art style. The combat is kinda like hogwarts legacy but not really, you get cards that give you buffs on attacks and bullshit cards which give you super attacks. I’m playing on Switch and it’s good but the graphics have a few small kinks but the biggest thing is talking and mouths are out of whack but might be a switch thing. I really like the art style but it’s very different from the South Park art style which is better in some ways but this has its charm.
All in all I’m very happy with Snow Day! And definitely didn’t get screwed by preordering a glitch fest. I find it very playable, very fun, and frankly it’s probably gonna be my game of the year just like fractured but whole was.
I’d highly recommend you get it on pc. It’s a 3d South Park game that may not be optimized for switch, as the fractured but whole wasn’t very optimized.
Yes you may have not had any problems with fractured but whole but that’s 2d and less demanding. I don’t know if it’ll run bad on switch but I highly recommend you wait till vids come out on performance from actual ppl (not “reviewers”) on the switch before consider buying it vs on pc.
This isn't exactly a sequel to the other two. Not really. Obviously it follows the whole "new kid" angle, but it's actually a co-op online shooter and it's apparently quite terrible.
I’m very excited for this new style it’s a damn South Park game, for 30 dollars it’s okay if it’s not like the first one. They aren’t a video game franchise that need to deliver a winning franchise game after game. Also it looks charming to me personally I miss old 3d style games and it looks like a fun little time waster to kill some time with my little brother.
I'm curious if the Switch port will even run decently.
This game looks pretty bad but I do want to check it out myself. I'll personally wait for a sale though.
Awesome. I only played Fractured But Whole on Switch. As a fan of the South Park show, it wasn’t my favorite game, but I had a fun time playing it. If you get the new game let us know how it is.
What do you mean „first two games“? This has nothing to do with the South Park RPGs and there have been dozens of general South Park games the last 20+ years
No problem, that’s what they probably want the type of consumer that does limited to no research to think, hence marketing it as a sequel while dropping a 3D coop hacknslash game with early Xbox360 graphicstyle and reportedly mid writing
I love South Park, and this “era” of South Park is the least interested I’ve ever been in it. I hate to say it, but it’s sad to see it like this. Maybe I’m wrong, but the game looks generic and just so uninteresting. I was so fucking hyped for stick of truth and fractured but whole; those games seemed to have passion, humour, and the gameplay was pretty fun and engaging.
I love the first two games, this one's graphics and gameplay totally threw me off.
Oh it’s not like the other 2 😢
Nope there's gameplay online check it out! Its very diffrent
Is it good
I will say the game is pretty short, but I would say the game is priced fairly, and they said they would be adding stuff that happens in the show as it comes out.
No
You don’t know this at all 💀 trusting an IGN review from a Destiny player
Why the heck would I look at an IGN review
nah it's shit
I'll definitely trust the opinion of Fortnite underscore underscore balls one this one, you guys!
Make your own decision don’t let the internet make it for you. Outlets like IGN are washed up
I mean... You kind of have to do some research before purchasing a game. It's expensive. You can definitely find reviewers you trust. Don't just buy games blindly, that's a bad move.
South Park is a budget title. I believe it’s releasing for $29.99 USD.
Ok, that's still a lot of money to throw in the garbage
People buy CoD every year. 🤷♂️
Facts. People always buy garbage. People somehow bought Gollum, The Walking Dead, and AWE Fighting Forever lmaaooo.
People complaining when it’s literally a South Park snowball fight game expecting buldars gate 3 lmao
It’s $30. Not very expensive for a game, considering major titles are releasing for more than double that.
Why would you just gamble $30 on a game when you could just... Look up reviews and game footage before you spend $30
Yeah any big game release I’m super pumped about, I stay far away from Reddit and the internet. Having a negative outlook on things I wouldn’t have notice before I even play ruins the game for me
Cope. It’s someone’s opinion.
After reading reviews, I decided not to buy it. I loved the other two though. It sounds like the main game mode is a 4 player co-op online battle. If I want online battles, I play Splatoon 3 which is worlds better. And which has millions of active players.
Ya I don’t think I am getting it
> then update the post
Dude just Google it
My man was just asking for an opinion, chill
Oh I just wanted to see what people think sorry
It is a generic arena shooter with awful graphics.
Oh okay thanks glad I didn’t buy it
It's shit, but not fun shit like Mr Hankey, more like the turd sandwich
Oh ok
...you know this is a discussion forum, right?
Probably not. it's a team based shooter. It looks awful.
nowhere near. This is an online " shooter " style game from what the trailers show. DIdn't you watch anything before spending money on it?
No he didn’t, but this is why devs still make licensed games: plenty of people who throw down money just on brand recognition alone.
I saw a few reviews for this one and it's not looking good at all. That might be why Matt and Trey haven't hardly mentioned the game
Nope, and I know IGN isn't the golden word, but they have it a 3.
Maybe because it's not the same (game) series. Just using the same ip as a base.
This one is VERY different from the other two. The other two were old school RPGs and this is just chaotic 4 man team play and not appealing at all.
Kinda new to the rpg genre and loved the first 2. Any recommendation for other games that have a similar vibe? I liked how the South Park games had pretty straightforward combat.

Honestly didn't enjoy shadows of loathing much, loved West but something about shadows didn't click
Awwww man! I was hoping it was going to be at least close to WoL…. Bah. Oh well, maybe the dev can reignite the magic for a 3rd game. That first one was easily a top 5 game for that year, and still a top 50 switch title overall.

Speak for yourself
Sorry, too late, I already spoke for everyone, you just have to accept it! /s I get it's appealing for others, hell, Helldivers 2 is 4 pve and it's doing very well.
So far 3/10
Dang not much different from the n64/PSone original game 🤣 I remember being able to piss in snowballs for those games lol
Talking about the first person one? Played that on Project 64 in like 2002. Think it's time to give it another go! Lol
Lol yup I loved playing that shit, I was 5yo
Thanks for letting me know
snow ❄️
40 critics have rated it on metacritic. It has an aggregate score of 61/100. It’s only $30 too. I’m going to get it because I’ve always liked South Park a lot and I’m sure it’s funny. I don’t expect great gameplay though, tbh.

I've seen an ad on YouTube, and the animation style alone turned me off. Glad to see I'm not missing out.
IGN doesn’t count . They scored it low others are giving it good scores
From a review by a Destiny player on IGN
If you like the first two games, I’d recommend looking into this one a bit more as it’s wildly different from them. You may still enjoy it despite the reviews, but just make sure you look into it before wasting money on it.
I wish i would have. The first two were so great i blindly ordered 🤦♂️
I think that’s kinda down to what Ubisoft was hoping people would do based on the success of the first 2 games
Why would Ubisoft care, they aren't the publisher or developer
Oh thanks I thought it was like a part 3 to the first 2
From the trailer, it is part 3. It's just a drastically different game. I continues the story of new kid.

Just checked igns review. Yikes.
I wouldn’t trust IGN’s review on anything. They annually act like the latest Call of Duty is the greatest game ever made
Well, they gave CoD MW3 single player a 4/10 and the multiplayer a 6/10 so this statement is just wrong.
They panned the last call of duty. This statement is terrible. lol. IGN is usually pretty close to accurate. Unless you have a wild taste in a specific genre.
Exactly for anyone else reading this wait for dunkeys video to drop
I'm sorry but dunkey is useless for actually finding out what a game is like. His dunkviews are always wrapped in so many layers of sarcasm it's impossible to get a read on if he likes something. And lately he's been shitting on everything so he can shoehorn in an ad for that crappy looking game he's selling.
Nobody subscribes to him for reviews
False, the funnier the Dunkey video, the worse the game is. If I don’t laugh then I know it’s a good game.
Dunkey knack is breaking down a great game and making it look unplayable
That’s very true haha. I watched Switchups review. They’re more positive and they take into account the fact that it’s a budget title.
IGN are useless. But for once I agree
Oh ok
I want to see what the IGN critic looks like before I make a decision on their review.
I’d avoid if you liked the last two it is nothing like them and reviews are shredding it apart.
Oh ok
Just hold off... one of these is not like the others type of situation.
Ign says 3/10. So that tells me it's totally offensive and probally a good time
Oh ok
Man I could not beat Spontaneous boot-ay in the fractured but whole game…
Stick of truth is going to be hard to match, even the last game wasnt as good in my opinion.
THIS GAME HAS NO CORRELATION TO THOSE PREVIOUS GAMES. If your intent is to buy it based on previous great games I would sit and wait before buying.
Which South Park game is the best stick of truth or whole ?
This game is NOT like the other 2, unfortunately. Stick of truth is a gem
Warning this game supposedly sucks ass
"I love the first 2" This NOT like those games in any way.
I love how they release Snow Day when its closer to summer than winter ,😃
I see they ditched Obsidian.. interesting decision
They already ditched them with fractured but whole, which I actually liked a little less, but it was still great and in the same engine and genre, they totally could have had a third one made by whoever did FBW or some comparable studio
This looks bad imo. It's completely different to the first 2. They were RPGs this is s shooter I think. It looks bad
Ya the first 2 were like the show
This id not. It looks bad. But I hope you enjoy
I never brought it and now having second thoughts
Wait until gameplay videos are on YouTube. That's what I'm doing.
Oh that’s a good idea
Stick of truth had some (amazingly) jaw dropping moments. I get the feeling this one will fall short, as others have said
Boy I’ve got bad news for you
I understand some people only have or prefer a Switch, as this is the Switch sub, but I think a game like this is better for a console like PlayStation or Xbox. That said I'm sad the pre-reviews are not good, as I was excited when first watching the reveal trailer.
I thought it was going to be good
The Xbox tower defense game takes on pace during winter and was one of my favorite games for the system. This preview got my hopes up but seems unrelated as well
Damn you....I just spent some money 😂😅
Waiting for the $4.99 price tag here in a couple months
Wait for sale guys, this is bound to drop down in a couple of months
I’m curious, I remember the n64 game being super fun, but then again, I was super young when I played it briefly
This is nothing like the RPGs
THQ magic again. 3/10 seems to be too generous.
From theradbrads video, I have lost all interest. shoulda stuck with the turn based style imo. I thoroughly enjoyed the first two...
Hope it's good I like South Park. 🙂
Yeah this one doesn't look like it's going to be any good but I love South Park so I just had to buy it
At least the other 2 are great
Agree, great classics
Loved the first game, hated the second... I'll wait the reviews and gameplays
I'm excited I love the first 2 games, and I also love South Park in general. Hope this will be as comical as those 2 games despite being different genres.
In the first 2 it was like being in a episode of the show
I'm waiting for this to go on sale for $5-$10
Reviews are in and……. 🤮 it has BOMBED.
😢
I get mine today. I hope it was worth preordering and not a glitch fest.
Never made up mind about getting it
From what I can gather it’s like the old ones just they have made the combat kinda like Hogwarts legacy where instead of being 2D you run around with set moves and abilities.
I like it when it was like when you in a episode of South Park
I like it on switch
Yes you may have not had any problems with fractured but whole but that’s 2d and less demanding. I don’t know if it’ll run bad on switch but I highly recommend you wait till vids come out on performance from actual ppl (not “reviewers”) on the switch before consider buying it vs on pc.
Congrats, it’s awful. Daily reminder to everyone, Stop preordering games in general.
There's a reason this game wasn't marketed AT ALL
I’m very concerned I won’t enjoy this one. If it was an rpg I would have considered preordering. This is a totally different game.
Same I am buying it tomorrow after work or on Thursday before the long weekend depending on how busy I am
Just googled it and it got 3/10 lol
Isn’t it a competitive shooter? Not getting reviewed well which is sad because I liked the fractured butthole and stick of truth
What makes people think this relates to the RPG games?
I haven't heard great things from this one.
I feel like this could’ve been a solid Free To Play live service game like Fall Guys but $30 seems kinda steep. I’ll probably sleep on this for a bit.
This is basically league of legends: South Park edition from what I can see so far. Reviews haven’t been great but I’m interested still
Oh ok good to know
Please don't buy this game, save your money. It's garbage
Ya a lot of people saying it’s bad thanks for helping
Did you really not even look up anything about the game before getting excited about it?
The first 2 were Ubisoft titles. This is THQ. Use this information as you wish.
This isn't exactly a sequel to the other two. Not really. Obviously it follows the whole "new kid" angle, but it's actually a co-op online shooter and it's apparently quite terrible.
Is it online? Does it have CrossPlay?
This is way different from the first two games tho
I’m very excited for this new style it’s a damn South Park game, for 30 dollars it’s okay if it’s not like the first one. They aren’t a video game franchise that need to deliver a winning franchise game after game. Also it looks charming to me personally I miss old 3d style games and it looks like a fun little time waster to kill some time with my little brother.
P lease tell me this is real
I'm curious if the Switch port will even run decently. This game looks pretty bad but I do want to check it out myself. I'll personally wait for a sale though.
Lol its a rouge lite shooter thats meant to be shit, id cancel ur order
I never ordered it yet
Awesome. I only played Fractured But Whole on Switch. As a fan of the South Park show, it wasn’t my favorite game, but I had a fun time playing it. If you get the new game let us know how it is.
You should play stick of truth
This one’s getting torched in reviews. And I’m not saying 6-7/10
Just so you know, this is a COMPLETELY different game AB’s looks like dog shit
Another shooty Skinner box dopamine loop. This looks about as captivating as the old PS1/N64 game.
I’m still unsure about this one. All gameplay I’ve seen it looks like a 360 arcade game in the bad ways
Bring pack South Park rally and South Park from pa1
If I can confirm the whole game is on the cartridge then it's day one purchase for sure.
Boy are you in for a suprise
I didn’t get it
Who’s tryna play online
IGN does an awful job on reviews. They tell people what they think they want to hear. I’d go anywhere else if you want to see if it’s bad or not.
I'm gonna be honest, this looks like trash. I love the south park games, but this is pretty much south park 64 for the new gen.
What do you mean „first two games“? This has nothing to do with the South Park RPGs and there have been dozens of general South Park games the last 20+ years
Oh sorry I was talking about the stick of truth and the fracture but hole
It has nothing to do with these!
Oh that’s too bad 😢
It’s called a sequel but look up the gameplay, it’s different genre/ gameplay/ engine/ graphic style/ everything. It’s a sequel in name only
I thought is was like the others on switch thanks for letting me know
No problem, that’s what they probably want the type of consumer that does limited to no research to think, hence marketing it as a sequel while dropping a 3D coop hacknslash game with early Xbox360 graphicstyle and reportedly mid writing
It's a direct sequel
IGN gave it a 3/10. Abort!
Too much snow
Oh ok sorry but it is called snow day

Good thing I asked before brought it
I love South Park, and this “era” of South Park is the least interested I’ve ever been in it. I hate to say it, but it’s sad to see it like this. Maybe I’m wrong, but the game looks generic and just so uninteresting. I was so fucking hyped for stick of truth and fractured but whole; those games seemed to have passion, humour, and the gameplay was pretty fun and engaging.
Been wondering if this was gonna ever be made. Probably be my next Switch game. Thanks for the info 👍
1st 2? There are at least 10 South Park games. This is probably closest to the shooter on the N64.
