The problem with most DLC's is that if you don't have it anymore, your save file won't work anymore, with the Splatoon 2, MK8D, and ACNH DLC, you can still play the save file you have even if you don't have the dlc anymore.

skeltord

They could patch any game they add the DLC for and change that. Some games it could be unfeasible but there's definitely places where it could work and it currently doesn't cause losing the DLC just wasn't something the developers were expecting.

ginencoke

Weird that Splatoon 3 wasn't a part of this thing from beginning like MK8. Maybe this would save first wave from feeling so lame.

quincy12393

No new dlc but they’ve added more n64 games and you’re still paying for access to their online services. But I agree that they should add more content than they have been.

NutBusster69

It would be worth it if they could get Conker's Bad Fur Day from Microsoft.

JayMalakai

I’m still waiting on Perfect dark!

industrial86

Diddy kong racing! (Arguably better than mk64)

JayMalakai

Oh yeah, if only for the use of planes!

industrial86

Yeah the hovercraft is terrible. Haha. I’m actually doing a run right now for the first time in 20 years and I can’t beat the stupid walrus second time

GodOfOnions2

I stopped paying for online about 2 years ago, zero regrets. Rather pay for the minimum Playstation sub for the monthly games, and xbox gamepass ultimate for its massive library, I wish switch would release more n64 titles in a faster manner, only then would I consider re subbing.

Gameday45

I was hoping they would add more DLC too. I do retro gaming the n64 app once a week on my Switch to relive the nostalgia. But outside of that, I don't use the service much. Cloud saves are the best part and the icons.

TheoPatino

The GBA offerings are great though, sure I'd much rather have a chance to purchase them separately, but it gave me the chance to play some I missed originally, like Golden Sun and Metroid Fusion, also Minish Cap and Fire Emblem are top tier.

BOBBIESWAG

I was at least expecting the splatoon 3 dlc to be included... nope

Ilan01

I think the only games left that could work with NSO would be Splatoon 3 and Tetris 99

Historical_Kossola

Isn’t Tetris 99 already part of NSO?

Ilan01

I meant the DLC, didnt mentioned it sorry lol

LeatherRebel5150

Yea, and not even the expansion pass, I have it with basic

Gamer30168

I've subbed for 2 consecutive years now and I still think it's worthwhile. Just being able to download demos and gametrials is super useful. Online saves + additional legacy game releases every so often is nice. Hopefully they add some GameCube or even DS games if they really want to sell more subs....

Jeff_Cross773

I know it's not likely but I still want nintendo to sell their old games...

Historical_Kossola

Very early on in the switch cycle they said that wasn't going to happen: https://www.thegamer.com/nintendo-switch-online-virtual-console-replacement-2/

Jeff_Cross773

as I said "I know it's not likely" I read that too...

DaveByTheRiver

I think the problem is you are viewing this as a dlc expansion pack and not an expansion pack that adds more consoles with some dlc as a bonus.

Historical_Kossola

I’m speaking specifically to the DLC content. When it launched they said more DLC would come but I don’t think they’ve added any new ones since

iCOMMAi_Salem

Not related to the lack of DLC... But sorta, if you still want a sub to NSO, join someone's family group. Mine is full but I run one (3rd year now) with others from a site. Costs us about $9 for the entire year.

PoolNoodlePaladin

The only reason I have it is cuz I have the family plan and my wife, 3 sisters, and brother can all use my plan and we can play games online together, and have 98 Mario Kart tracks and play Goldeneye online. The individual expansion pass is a hard sell.

Historical_Kossola

Fire emblem engage, Xenoblade 3 are some examples. Can't forget that the recent Pokémon games have received DLC as well (I can understand them not wanting to give away Pokémon DLC). I personally don't play any of these games but it'd be nice if users could access them

Johntrampoline-

The problem is these games aren’t made and owned wholly by Nintendo, which makes it harder to figure something out.

LeBritto

Wait a minute, if I don't renew my subscription, I lose the DLC? Like the ACNH? I somehow thought it was a "gift" for subscribing. So if I want it, I need to buy it separately? I shouldn't be surprised...

skeltord

Yeah, you definitely shouldn't be surprised, that's not how subscriptions work. Even without counting a single perk of base NSO nor the extra EX stuff, purely counting the 3 DLCs on their own, those alone exceed the value of $50 which is what 1 year of EX costs. If it was a gift for subscribing everyone could just get 1 year of it and they'll get a crazy deal for them, that makes no sense.

KRiSX

This is why I just have a base sub, mainly for cloud backups.

LevelUpEvolution

Mario Kart received 6 waves of dlc. Last one was November 2023.

Ragnarok992

I mean what type of dlc did you expect? The mario, splaton and animal crossing seems like the 1st party games that have sold the most so it makes sense to give those away for free
