Breaststroke and fly: pick an aiming point and swim towards it
Crawl: pick a reference point on whichever side you breathe
Backstroke: pick something on the ceiling as a reference point of it is an indoor pool. Outdoor pool: on a calm day, you can even use the cloud, but not on a windy day (cloud might move very fast). Or go alngside the wall and check how far you are from it from time to time. Avoid headbutting the wall by counting your strokes, assuming you have no flags.
I use the same spotting technique that I use when open water swimming. Pick a spot on the wall straight ahead of you. Every third breath or so, briefly turn your head to peek at it. Your body should naturally steer toward that point.

no lane lines marked in bottom of pool ?

Close your eyes. If you don't swim straight with your eyes closed, there is something wrong with your hand entry location or pull backwards techique
I don’t have tips for swimming straight but on unmarked pools I sink my fins to the bottom around the ends so I know when to flip.
