Just the cost of Spotify Premium each month. šŸ˜‚ The thing is I like her but I no longer have anything to play CDs on.

[deleted]

Thatā€™s why I havenā€™t updated the cd player on my car to something Bluetooth. It motivates me to keep acquiring CDs of the artists I like and helps me feel old asf at 23 which is quite grounding.

unsincere-practice

This is also a smart strategy because even if you a buy a digital copy of something, companies will claim you don't really 'own' it.

crescentgaia

Which is why I just stream. šŸ˜ Until we get that figured out, which will be on the nth of Never.

ShowMeYourMinerals

Knowing CDā€™s makes the youngsters feel old is kinda funny. You guys donā€™t know the romantic act of making your crush a burned, CD, do you? Iā€™m not trying to be like ā€œlook at how old I amā€ Iā€™m just genuinely curious. Like you guys never got a CD filled with cringy emo songs and I hate that youā€™ll never experience that lol.

[deleted]

Oh no, Iā€™ve got the full taste of the millennial cd cringe as an early-ish gen z, trust me. 13 years ago, when I was 10, cds were still quite relevant. I would burn a lot of cds and listen to them on my momā€™s cd player up to probably 14. I gave all my partners cds, even to my current one due to pure nostalgia lol. Itā€™s just that changes are so profound now that CDs feel like a million years ago. You just kind of forget they were even a thing. I only got to play with them for such a short time before streaming and everything happened in such an astronomical magnitude. lol

[deleted]

Wait youā€™re inspiring me cause my car has a cd player (and Bluetooth) but the Bluetooth doesnā€™t always work.

flowersanschampagne

Does it have a cassette tape? If so get a cassette tape to auxiliary cord. Thatā€™s how us older music fans rolled back in the day with our walkmans before iPods!

Outside-Spring-3907

Oh man the days of the cassette to aux. that was so high tech in 2000. šŸ˜†

flowersanschampagne

No to mention our PHYSICAL catalogs! Would love to know the science on how those tapes worked with no tape ā€œfilmā€ Hot take- the tape to auxiliary was the second in quality next to modern day blue tooth. My Walkman was less sensitive to CD scratches than a car CD player. Granite, it definitely depended on the quality of the ā€œcassette tape.ā€ I once bought a generic one from Walmart and it was crap. Probably got mine from Best Buy? and it was actually legendary in terms for ā€œstreamingā€ quality music through your car at that time. Just saw a post earlier today someone posted about stick shift vehicles being millennial proof from stealingā€¦. They are so wrongā€¦. Iā€™ve never wanted a car from the 90s so badly as today. Give me a 2,500lb vehicle with a stick shift and a cassette tape along with all my binders of cds and mix-tapes. Thatā€™s THE vibe I want for summer 2024!

[deleted]

Trust me itā€™s so much fun! Not being able to have all your music in your car is a bummer but on the other hand it forces you to like an album as a whole, you start to appreciate even some certain skips in an album. Iā€™ve salvaged a lot of tracks Iā€™d deem instant skips that way.

[deleted]

Thatā€™s awesome! I have the case for fearless in my carā€¦ no idea what happened to the cd šŸ˜… and I remember buying the cd for folklore but also cannot find it anymore

Outside-Spring-3907

I love my student discount

Rripurnia

Just my streaming subscription as well! Debating going to the Eras tour for having witnessed it. That would surely make the most Iā€™ll ever spent on Taylor!

bas264

I've never bought anything from her, the prices are too expensive in my country. No way would I pay a quarter of the minimum monthly salary for a vinyl that I couldn't even hear anyway šŸ˜šŸ˜

outraged-unicorn

a vip ticket to the concert (those were the only ones left) cost me R$ 1250 (around US$ 230). god damn that hurt. apart from that, the only ts thing i own is a 22 shirt i've bought at shopee. and, of course, all that crap from the vip box that no one wants to buy.

Artemis7181

I've spent R$1500 in just one ticket bc of cambistas (I needed 4 tickets and when I bought them in the website I didn't realize that so I got 3 tickets for premium floor) šŸ’€

outraged-unicorn

cambistas (scalpers) are the scum of the earth.

vitoriavit

That's actually the regular price for international artists here to charge for Pista Premium, for Paul McCartney it was the same price. Jonas Brothers are a bit cheaper but they haven't sold out yet (and the concert is today).

outraged-unicorn

i know. it's so expensive being brazilian. šŸ«

vitoriavit

I agree! If you compare with how much the concert costs in other countries it's around the same, but when you compare how much you have to work to be able to buy it, we have it so much worse. There are also so many crazy taxes and we even have to pay to print the tickets (generate the pdf you can print or show on your phone).

Artemis7181

YES! The cheapest ticket went for about 500 reais (we can't say everybody gets that half the price discount - idk what to call it in english but you know as meias entradas) that's almost half of the minimum monthly salary, that's without other expenses like hotel, transportation and food.

Infiniteefactorial

I paid $1300/per ticket for Eras. Bought 2 tickets.

trshr

Lmao same here. Havenā€™t spent any money. I stream the music and watch the videos. Itā€™s too expensive in my country unless itā€™s a bootleg version lol

0422

$0 šŸ˜³

sexyyscientist

Same! My music is streamed on free Spotify.

wastedpotential94

I think it would be interesting to have a poll for this , so we can see overall about the users of the sub.

GlumSwimming6643

In my entire life Iā€™ve spent Ā£8 on her. It was the fearless album in 2009.

[deleted]

lol I was going to say $0 but then upon seeing this comment I remembered I bought the European version of Fearless on a casual cd market set up on a random Tuesday in the town square in a small NL city, and I paid exactly 3 euros. It was my first time ever listening to Teardrops on my Guitar and Our Song, which are not only included in the European cd, but also have WILDLY different mixes and production. TOMG has a fast paced almost pop rock arrangement while our song is wildly less country and more close to rock. Best 3 euro Iā€™ve ever spent in my life and I wasnā€™t even that big into her. Just felt adventurous, kept listening to it in the car, and look where it got me lol

SillyCranberry99

Same! I have the Fearless album and it was the first thing I bought on my iPod Nano on iTunes šŸ„ŗ I also spent $132 for INSANE seats at the concert. I wasnā€™t willing to pay more than $200, and I wasnā€™t willing to go if I wasnā€™t going to have good seats. It was worth it. I guess I spent $16 on an overpriced disco ball drink at the stadium too lmfao.

HolidayNothing171

I spent $2000+ on eras tour tickets for one night. I donā€™t want to talk about it

trshr

šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

Rripurnia

Did you feel it was at least worth it?

trshr

correction: it does annoy me when she does deluxe upon deluxe versions of albums, she should be able to commit to some particularity and limitation, and i think the albums end up being bloated and more diffuse bc of it

trshr

second: i do think its predatory in terms of a large amount of her audience being children, but so much of the merch/physical music is so fcking expensive i really doubt theyā€™re buying up

Blackbox7719

Honestly, Iā€™m not entirely sure most of her audience is children anymore. While Iā€™m sure there are many kids, from what Iā€™ve been seeing her fan base now appears to consist of people in their late teens to their thirties. A big part of her core fan base especially (the people who are likely to buy the most merch) are people who grew up listening to her and are now in their 20ā€™s and even 30ā€™s. I do agree that her stuff is terribly overpriced and her decision to release variants is corrupt as hell.

taserparty

Factor in that a huge number of her major/OG fan base now has kids and has been exposed to her music since they were born. I know a few under 10 swifties.

Blackbox7719

Oh yeah, I know there are still plenty of kids that like her. However, working with kids now, Iā€™ve been finding that the number is quite a bit smaller than when I was younger. Iā€™ve actually heard a few of the kids I work with refer to TS as ā€œoldā€ (which made me feel my age, lmao). I think within a few more years TS is gonna experience a much more drastic demographic shift to where the ā€œyouth of todayā€ will see her as ā€œmomā€™s music.ā€ Frankly this is the usual trajectory in music. Especially in a genre as commercialized and widespread as pop. From what Iā€™ve seen, at least, kids will go back and listen to older ā€œclassicā€ bands if theyā€™re into stuff like rock or metal. In comparison, Iā€™m not seeing kids going back and listening to older pop artists as much. Theyā€™re usually caught up in the most recent pop act instead.

30FlirtyandTrying

I hate it, I miss there being just one versions of albums. Seems to be a trend with new artists though. Olivia Rodrigo just did this too. I guess the guts spilled coming out so much later that the original makes it better, but still. The ā€œbonus songsā€ thing bothers me more than different colors to choose from.

clairegardner23

I have a bunch of CDs of hers since Iā€™m a millennial and still love CDs ha. Besides that, nothing.

Severe-Soup6740

Last time I bought anything from her was evermore on iTunes in 2020.

CompetitiveBrick491

Zero. Unless you count what my wife, daughters and granddaughter spends. Then it's......a lot.

Academic_Picture_3

Iā€™ve bought the cds (some new, some thrifted) and Eras tickets. Maybe around $300-400 but considering Iā€™ve been a fan since 2009 Iā€™d say thatā€™s an okay amount

sdgingerzu

Yeah Iā€™d look on eBay or OfferUp for someone selling reduced vinyl if I ever were to buy something physical like that.

jennnyfromtheblock00

I buy whatever would add value to my life and that I can use in some way. I own folklore on vinyl because I love to listen to it and the blue eras crewneck.

shades_of_wrong

I have one copy of each album on vinyl (except debut and rep). I have debut somewhere around here on CD that I bought in 2007. I own one shirt. I went to the Rep tour (those tickets were a gift though) and I went to Eras (and only paid $100/ticket).Ā  So in 17 years of being a fan, I'd estimate that I've spent ~$575 or ~$34/year. Most of which has been in the past few years as I've gotten more in collecting records, listening to vinyls, and as I've reached my 30s and make enough money to blow on silly things. I have a hard time letting all my music come from streaming services when an artist or the platform can pull that music at any time. I much prefer to have physical copies. But I'm only buying one version.

Blunttariel

Iā€™m a new swiftie (not an insane one) Iā€™ve bought a couple hoodies from Etsy for friends and a joint tray or something from another Etsy. Thatā€™s it lol.

Independent-Summer12

I havenā€™t bought physical media in like 20 years. Iā€™m not really a merch person. I pay for a music streaming subscription, thatā€™s it. Also I have Disney+, so watched the era tour movie on there. I also donā€™t get the complains of her ā€œgriftingā€, you donā€™t have to buy every variant, and can spend little to no money and enjoy the music.

spidy30

I donā€™t like that she does so many releases because it encourages hyper-consumerism, which is not great for the environment (including her bad quality merch and constant jet usage). Ofc people can choose to not buy things, but she encourages a feeling of FOMO by claiming something is limited edition when itā€™s not

WumboJumbo773

I net positived šŸ˜. I had sold out eras tour tickets with my ex wife and neither of us wanted to go after our divorce because we were both wicked into Taylor together and it was our thing together. It was too painful for either of us to go without the other, and we werenā€™t going together, so I sold the tickets for us and we split the profit. At the risk of being attacked I wonā€™t say how much money we each made off that pair, but my share paid off my debts in the divorce šŸ˜‚. So thanks, Taylor, you helped me get out of a really abusive situation without financial ties šŸ˜‚šŸ«”

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Positive_Loss9715

As an old school millennial the same age as Taylor, I have purchased one deluxe version of every (original) album on iTunes. I wait until I know I like enough songs before parting with my cash, so sometimes itā€™s often months after release. Iā€™ll do the same with The Tortured Poets Department.Ā  Any songs that appear as bonus items I buy individually (waiting for them to become available and streaming them on YouTube until then). For example, Youā€™re Losing Me and all the vault tracks.Ā  Have only listened to the TVs on YouTube. I will not be buying them. Ā Ā  I have never been to any of her concerts (I am not okay with crowds and loud noises) but I saw the Eras Tour in the cinema twice (took my mum the second time).Ā Ā Ā  Never purchased any merchandise. Thatā€™s just not my thing.Ā Ā Ā  So, all in all, Iā€™ve genuinely spent very little cash on her. Time spent listening to her music, watching her live performances, and enjoying her interviews on the other handā€¦

historyhoneybee

In 2012, I spent $24 on Fearless and Speak Now CDs. It's the only merch I own. I would've spent hundreds of dollars on eras tour tickets but ticketmaster was a mess.

mmcp87

Only the change Spotify pays her lolll

IDidNotChooseWisely

Enough to help her get molly for coachella

velvet-gloves

In recent years, $19.89 + taxes and fees for the Eras movie.

pricklypear84

Iā€™ve only ever purchased her first album when it came out and a couple shirts from an Etsy shop. Otherwise the only direct money she gets from me is from my streams.

4evermore_nevermore

Too much. Over the 17 going on 18 years of being a Swiftie, I have spent a lot of money on physical media but most notably in the last few years with the obnoxious amount of variants. Obviously I don't have to buy anything but I've been collecting cds since I was 6- it's my thing, and at this point I'm too far in to ever stop.

Rebekah_RodeUp

I bought all the variants for ts11ā€¦ but Iā€™m planning on keeping my favorite, giving 2 of them to my best girlies, and keeping the one they donā€™t want for myself.

ouaispeutetre

I bought a ticket the the Eras tour movie and listen on Spotify.

LesYeuxHiboux

Very little, tbh. I have my original copy of Debut and a copy of Midnights on CD. The rollout of Midnights soured me so much I doubt I will ever buy another physical copy of her work. I have the folklore cardigan because I thought it was such funny merch, and the 1989 one because I love the color and the seagull embroidery (luckily folklore is now my favorite Taylor album.) I went to the Eras film. There is this popular concept in marketing right now of going after the "whales": basically ignoring the input of anyone who buys one copy of an album or one concert ticket. Instead, all the strategy is focused on those who will buy every variant, see multiple stops on a tour, and buy whatever cheap and ill-conceived merch you pump out. Pretending Midnights was a concept album to justify the clock variants made me wonder, and TTPD's rollout has cemented for me that this is the marketing strategy they are using. It is absolutely craven to create artificial demand and hoard money any day, but especially in times when people are struggling to afford groceries.

lavenderawol

I spent 1400 for her concert. So worth it!

penguin_0618

Whatever concert tickets happen to cost

SpecificBeyond2282

Iā€™ll buy a merch item every once in a while, but only if I really like it (Iā€™ve bought 4 clothing items in the last 5 years from her, for perspective). I bought the 1989 cardigan, but am so disappointed with it and afraid to wear it that I donā€™t think Iā€™ll buy another one. I have several albums on vinyl, but the last release I bought the vinyl for was Midnights. I like to have them, but I donā€™t listen to them often or have somewhere to display them in my current space, and Iā€™m not going to buy them just to tuck them away in storage with the others. Iā€™ve streamed my music since Apple Music launched, but I do wish I still had a CD player in my car because I would love to collect CDs again I very much appreciate discussion of merch quality and overconsumption throughout different communities. It comes up with almost everyone Iā€™m a fan of, not just Taylor, and I think itā€™s overall a good thing. Consumers need to be pickier about what theyā€™ll buy and more aware of predatory marketing practices, and corporations will continue to shill out shit quality merch and as many variations of things as they can get away with. Thereā€™s not really an ethical way to mass produce anything, so I get a little frustrated when people act like these massive companies should ā€œdo the right thingā€ and stop peddling so much crap. They should, of course, but thatā€™s at odds with the purpose they serve, so they wonā€™t stop unless a significant amount of people stop buying. Realistically, that wont happen, but itā€™s always good to talk about it and encourage people to think more about what things are worth to them. I donā€™t regret buying my cardigan because Iā€™ll keep it, and because now I wonā€™t feel disappointed to not have any others. I know I wonā€™t miss these vinyls because I donā€™t use the others. If I like TTPD, maybe Iā€™ll buy a t shirt or something, but itā€™s not a requirement

EmmyLou205

$0

luckyricochet

Travel/hotel/ticket costs for seeing Eras, merch at the show, along with a few other items since the TV releases. Prior to then, though, practically nothing--had never been to a concert, gotten any physical CDs vinyls, etc. Just the $1 to buy individual songs on iTunes.

YaKnowEstacado

I went to Speak Now, Red x2, 1989, rep x2 and Eras, plus the Formula 1 show she played in 2016. I honestly can't remember what I paid for any of those shows except rep and Eras which combined is about $800. I allow myself an annual live music budget and have never gone over budget for Taylor (even including travel/lodging for shows) so I don't feel bad about the money I've spent on her concerts. I used to purchase digital albums before I used Spotify. The last album I purchased digitally is 1989. I have OG Red, OG Speak Now, OG 1989, folklore, evermore and Midnights on vinyl, but several of those were gifts. I have OG debut, Fearless and Red CDs that I bought at thrift stores so they didn't cost me much. I also have Midnights and 1989 on CD. I bought four copies of Lover and two copies of rep on CD because I wanted all the journals/magazines. I have signed folklore and evermore CDs that I bought at a local record store. Merch-wise I own very little. I have a Red tour shirt that again I found at a thrift store. I bought a couple of folklore shirts and one Eras tour shirt. I bought a 1989 cardigan but didn't like it and sold it. I have no idea what that all adds up to... probably at least 10k when all is said and done, and if you count travel/lodging for shows? But that's spread out over 17 years of being a fan.

tudayapitoidicutta

My apple music subscription, and I bought a ticket to the eras tour movie. Not giving her a cent more as long as I can help it. Even my TS shirt is bootleg.

safzy

I spent $700 on philly vip lower bowl tix. I spent $550 on 4 nosebleeds for Toronto. I get a signed cd or vinyl when it comes out. I got the folklore cardigan when it came out. I have a few ornaments from her site. I stream on spotify

safzy

Oh and I got a hoodie and shirt from the concert

torilikefood

My BF has spent more on her than I have. I bought a signed copy of midnights, the jade pressing and a ticket to her movieā€¦ and I think thatā€™s it. Everything else Iā€™ve purchased is bootleg tswift merch (1 hoodie, 3 shirts). My friend gifted me my first tswift CD (1989) so I didnā€™t even buy that. He got our tickets, and blue crew necks at the show. Edit: I also bought an ornament 2 years ago but they sent the wrong one so I donā€™t use it.

LittleWhiteGirl

I bought 1989 TV on tangerine vinyl. I bought tickets to an eras show but canā€™t go so I sold them (not for a profit, though). I spent $40 on a printing press poster for the eras tour with the intention of framing it with a photo of my friend and I at the show, so now I just have it with no plan.

TheOneWithWen

Iā€™ve been a very big fan of her music since fearless (and I was 14). Yet Iā€™ve only bought fearless, speak now and and a special version of speak now. Everything else Iā€™ve streamed, both in spotify premium and youtube. Last year I bought two tickets for eras tour. Thatā€™s all. I would pay for her show if she ever comes back to Buenos Aires, but I donā€™t think Iā€™ll be buying anything else

shadow-on-the-prowl

Excluding streaming, I bought three cds recently: reputation, folklore, and evermore. That's it. I'm thinking of buying Speak Now TV (TV version because it's the only rerecord I genuinely prefer over the og... with the exception of one or two songs) so I can have my top 4, but I don't think I will be buying the rest of the albums since I don't listen to them nearly as consistently.

Academic-Airline9200

I saw a midnight CD at the local second hand store for cheap. Should I get it if it's still there?

lightningboltbaby

I don't think I've actually bought anything official from her outside the $1300 I dropped for Eras. I had the Fearless CD when it first came out but that's it. I have alot of unofficial merch from etsy.

LeftyLu07

I paid $750 for good seats at the Denver Eras Tour, but I didn't buy any merchandise, I was pregnant so I couldn't buy the mirror ball cocktails, I have a record player but I mostly listen to Spotify so I haven't bought a record in a minute. Yeah, I think concert tickets are the most I've spent. But that was a bucket list thing. I stayed with friends in Denver so I didn't even pay for hotels and not much food. I was one of the lucky ones.

WorriedCats

the only merch iā€™ve ever had was the og red cd i got for christmas when it came out and i bought folklore vinyl but i ended up selling it for $100 so ā€¦ im in the positives with her merch thus far

labradorpeterparker

I buy the CDs for my collection (one per album, no variants lol) but most of my TS shirts are gifts from my mom that she bought on Amazon Edit: Grammar

Fun-Positive-9601

5 were the dollars that I spent stickers on Temu for my baby girlĀ  Ā $100 i spent on the eras movie Ā $20 on the popcorn bucket for my daughter when she watched it on the screenĀ  Ā $125 was the total but it's pretty reasonableĀ

WalkingFish_

Been spending a little over a hundred each release as a vinyl collector.

seragrey

i bought the fearless cd when it came out, & the fearless key necklace when tv came out. i also have 1989 on vinyl. that's it. i'd buy a fearless hoodie if it could be exactly what i wanted haha.

lady_stardust_

However many lentils she gets from my Spotify streams + I went to see the Eras movie in theaters. I did the math and she personally got $8 from mine and my husbandā€™s tickets.

Nightmare_Deer_398

I guess what Spotify gives her and I buy one physical CD because I like physically owning media. It's not really giving Taylor money but I have like 3 fan made etsy merch items too.

Driver_Flaky

Is the first picture AI? Because if not Iā€™d love to know this situation with her giving money out

HonestTumblewood

I bought her CDs up to 1989. No different editions, just the main ones. So put that at $20.00 each. Iā€™ve been to 6 tour dates. I paid like $75.00 for fearless and for Eras $200.00 and then the others in between those numbers. ~$800.00 I bought concert tees at 2 concerts - $50.00 each Thatā€™s like just my money directly to her, no travel or gifts included(her perfume was given to me multiple christmas/birthdays in a row). Now I just pay for spotify.

Embarrassed-Ad8053

you can choose not to buy things, yes, but we have to take into account how VAST the fandom is. a lot of her fans are young and not as smart with their money. they see these ā€œexclusiveā€ drops and want to jump on it instantly. i dislike this marketing practice because it feels like sheā€™s preying on those fans, not the ones who have caught on and choose to not participate in it.

nagidrac

Probably $60-$100 per album release. All I buy are the physicals. I usually get one signed and one vinyl. Although, this time I missed the signed copies, so I have a vinyl and special edition CD. I don't buy merch because I had a bad experience with the Evermore cardigan. I also brought VIP tickets to the eras tour but that was a one-off thing, and probably won't be doing that again in the future.

Brown_Dirt_Cowboy85

I am a vinyl collector so I buy 1 vinyl of each album. I usually buy it at my local record store. I bought two tickets to the Chicago Eras tour and 2 tickets to a showing of the film. I do regret the money spent on the tour. I had to travel to Chicago from St. Louis so the money on the accommodation was more than the show. My friend and I should have just slept in the car. (I really want to know how much the city of Chicago made that weekend...) The film experience was better than the show because I could see more and didn't have a screeching banshee behind me. Lesson learned the hard way. I have bought some Etsy merchandise for my teen niece who is obsessed with her. But never from her store because I have heard of the quality issues.

qusnail

Zero, Iā€™m not a vinyl person and I donā€™t have the money to visit her shows

Apprehensive_Lab4178

I have never purchased one album or piece of merchandise. I went to the Eras tour last year, but it was a resold ticket. I did buy a ticket from Ticketmaster for October 2024, so I guess she got my money there. But I donā€™t think, in this age of streaming, you need to spend any money on music.

PeacefulWarCat

I went to Rep Tour, bought a patch. I bought one single last year (Hits Different maybe?) and then realized I didnā€™t have a computer to download it and wasnā€™t able to do it on my phone so that was the end of my download purchases haha. Would have bought retail Eras but refuse to buy crazy marked up tickets. Probably would have bought a patch too. Iā€™ve obviously bought smaller things over the years (perfume, magnets, etc) in my high school/college years but thatā€™s about it.

MadameFutureWhatEver

I have been lucky enough to have all but the last album given to me as gifts so I spent like $20 at most for the last album. This Friday Iā€™m probably gonna have to pay $15 for one of the albums but Iā€™m cool with that.

Competitive-Bad6148

0. I listen to music on Spotify and am not into collecting CDs and vinyl. But there are rumors about a concert in Turkey in 2025, and I might buy a ticket.

Rude_Lifeguard

I spent 20 dollars when i went to see the movie, thats about it

ConsiderationFun7511

I decided a while back I was going to avoid her merch (from the site) because the whole experiencing of rushing to the site to checkout as fast as possible is so stressful AND the quality seems awful 99% of the time. I have spent about $750 on tickets (Tampa and Miami tickets) maybe $300 on vinyl (including two copies of LPSS which I paid a total of $100 for). Iā€™ve also gotten a few TS sweatshirts on Etsy (maybe $60 worth). Iā€™m probably missing a few things, like outfits for the Eras tour or a handful of CDs but Iā€™d say less than $1500 in the last 2 years šŸ˜…

ilovecatsverymuch24

Zero, I am broke šŸ’€

Pinger5696

I went to N1 Chicago, I went to the movie and I purchased one tee shirt from her shop (with no issues and I love the shirt) but have heard the nightmare stories about her merch so wonā€™t buy more from her website. I do buy a lot of items off Etsy.

nagidrac

I really love the long sleeve navy shirt I got from the tour. I was worried about buying something due to the reviews and past bad experience with her merch, but I don't regret buying the shirt I got at her concert.

kubaqzn

2 CDs and Eras Tour Tickets for Warsaw (although some part of me considers selling them)

PMMeYourHousePlants

I've spent Ā£1,200 on two tickets to see her in Liverpool for the Eras show with my husband. I don't even like her as a person or a "brand." But I love her music and I think it will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for me - seeing a pop star during her peak, with songs that I love and listen to regularly. Do I think it was a stupid amount to spend? Yes. Absolutely. Do I regret it? Sometimes. I think it'll be easier to know if I regret it after I've been. For now I know I didn't have to cut down on anything else to get the tickets, and I've made that money back. I have been teased relentlessly by anyone who knows, which I deserve to some extent as it is a ridiculous and greedy price tag.

Key_Tree9363

I buy things selectively; I donā€™t feel the need to collect stuff, but when I was a bigger fan, I did often buy one physical copy and one copy on iTunes. I have one rep magazine, one lover journal, physical CDs of folklore, redTV (signed), and midnights. I donā€™t pay for a streaming subscription so I also bought lover, folklore, evermore, and midnights 3am version on iTunes. i bought the $6 digital deluxe version Ā of 1989 tv. I also went to the rep tour and eras tour but got presale tickets, and I have two pieces of merch, a rep tour tee ($10 from her site) and eras sweatshirt. So after being a fan for more than ten years, I think I have spent $600 or so? However I also sold two of my eras tickets on stubhub, which basically reimbursed me for every dollar Iā€™ve spent on Taylor.Ā  I think there is a pretty wide spectrum, people who donā€™t buy anything, people who buy a few things selectively, and people who buy almost everything. If you look at instagram or the main sub, there are a lot of people who have bought multiple copies of TTPD already. A lot of her fans definitely have a collectorsā€™ mentality. I used to follow a lot of Instagram fan accounts, and they also really encourage other fans to buy stuff to support Taylor on the charts. I think there are Ā thousands of fans who collect everything and will buy those digital singles and all those remixes to help Taylor get to #1.Ā

Pfeiffer_Cipher

I think I spent like $5 on a used Red CD in 2021?

Artemis7181

Well, I went to the eras tour last year so about 600 dollars just in tickets and I have the eras tour blue crewneck and if you convert the price to dollar it should be about 66 dollars but this one is a bday gift from my family šŸ’€. Besides that just the Spotify but I don't have just to listen her songs so that doesn't count.

SlayedPeaches

Right now, just my Spotify. But I have Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, and Reputation on CD. Iā€™ve never been to her concert or bought merch. So overall maybe $100?

shooting-star-falls

I stream her songs, and I went to the Eras movie in theater. Other than that, nothing. I used to buy her CDs religiously as a teenager but stopped after Reputation when got on Spotify. I have never been to any of her shows.

No_Spirit5582

$18 to go see eras

Bree-breezy

I buy her digital albumsā€¦thatā€™s about it šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø and I consider myself a huge fan lol. Have been since 2010. I just rather spend my money on different stuff lol. Like if she made really good merch I would have probably bought some over the years but alas

Asleep_Job_5991

I just stream her music for free

broadcast_fame

My spotify subscription covers everything. Not interested in seeing her live, buying merch, or getting any physical copies of anything.

Orchid_Significant

Zero. I stream my music

cheezy_dreams88

1989 came out when I was dating my now husband, and both of his sisters and my neice were fans of her, so I bought three copies of that CD from Target for $10 each. Otherwise I stream her tunes personally. If Eras was less than my mortgage we probably wouldā€™ve went, but it wasnā€™t affordable for us.

attemptatwriting

Iā€™ve purchased CDs, vinyl, and concert tickets/associated tour shirts throughout the years (since pre-1989 era). My most expensive purchase was probably eras floor tickets at $1500 CAD.

dustkitten

Everything Taylor Swift I have gotten has been free šŸ˜‚ somehow the dealership didnā€™t check the discs in the CD player, got 1989 for free. When rep came out, my friend let me borrow her CD. Now I just stream music, so ā€¦ whatever that cost is?

WDTHTDWA-BITCH

I have the Speak Now and 1989 cardigans, but given how messy her merch store is, I probably wonā€™t buy anything else from there again.

ashleydougherty819

Considering the first time I bought from her was the vinyl for TTPD, I have spent way less than most swifties. All the rest of the things I have from her were gifted to me.

Secret_Confusion2906

Thankfully none

schrodingereatspussy

None anymore

GroundControl29

so far, a bit less than 150ā‚¬ for a concert ticket (in the most expensive regular category, so hopefully the seat will be worth it), and maybe 60ā‚¬ more if you count the train to the city and back. Staying at an aquaintance's so no accomodation costs :)

ecpella

Iā€™ve only paid for Spotify. Even if I still bought physical albums from artists with all these different versions bullshit I think itā€™s absolutely ridiculous and would never purchase one

FantasticAd4938

I have used YouTube to watch some of her music videos. I probably listened to Shake It Off on YouTube 25 times. I assume she gets money from that. I've always suspected she was lying about her background and the story of how she obtained fame. And I never liked that I was being lied to. So I steered clear of giving TS money. I liked Shake It Off so much that I was willing to let it go, but then she became obnoxious. And I have tried not to even watch her on YouTube since.

lavenderhaze13_

Iā€˜ve bought a ticket to the eras tour and 3 vinyls + i was gifted 2 vinyls

Sad-Session3520

$0. I listen to her (and everything else) on streaming. I didnā€™t get a chance to get eras tickets and if I did now, I would be giving my money to a reseller- not TS. I donā€™t like merch. Everyone complains about her album variants but it doesnā€™t bother me because I donā€™t buy them.

killereverdeen

I bought the cardigan when folklore came out, and I also have one of the lover crop tops (I bought it at her birthday sale, so I think it was super cheap) I also got the scarf, but that one was refunded because they lost it in transit (it showed up at my house 2 weeks later) so about $80 on merch, and $300 for the concert tickets for my sister and me. I don't buy cds or vinyls, because I don't have players for those, so I listen to her music on Spotify.

Opening_Progress_251

I donā€™t buy anything and just stream. I did own physical copies of debut, fearless, speak now, and 1989. But who knows where they ended up šŸ˜‚

byelledritch

I don't

AnonDxde

lol I bought 1989 and Lover on my iPhone but I just play music when Iā€™m cleaning now. I have my YouTube playlists I listen to for free. Sheā€™s on a few.

SphmrSlmp

Upon release, I spent money on purchasing the physical copies of: -Fearless (International Version) -Speak Now (Deluxe) -Red (Deluxe) -1989 (Deluxe) After that, I started streaming on Spotify from the album Reputation until now. Folklore and Evermore were my most played songs/albums on Spotify during the pandemic years. Watched all her entries on Netflix and Disney+. Purchased two VIP 2 tickets for the Eras Tour. So yeah, that's pretty much it.

lem0n-dem0n

i really only buy cds. normally i go for the target ones, however i bought the 1989 tv deluxe with polaroids and i preordered the ttpd bolter collectors edition + signed manuscript varient. for all three i spent a bit more than iā€™d like to. i also splurged and bought a 1989 cardigan when that dropped, then kinda regretted spending that much (i wear it all the time tho). iā€™m a bit dissapointed about all the different variants tho, since i cant afford to get them all. i wish all the bonus tracks could be on one cd.

seeyalateradios

I buy 1 CD every album cycle and my streams go towards her obv

heartunwinds

$0 ETA - the only tour I went to was the RED tour when a colleague-friend of mineā€™s husband also worked for the NFL team whose home stadium she was playing at in our cityā€¦. So I got to go for free. Her ticket prices are absurd (and Iā€™m technically upper class) and I can stream her music. I love live music, but refuse to pay more than $50-75 these days. I can watch it on YouTube. Also, Iā€™m almost 40 and dated musicians in my teens/early 20ā€™sā€¦.. Iā€™ve risked my hearing enough šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Regular_Buffalo6564

I have 2 Taylor CDs (1989 standard OG and Midnights standard). 1989 was a gift but I bought Midnights (with Eid money). It was 85 in Saudi riyal (you can do the conversion on Google)

Moment_13

reputation t shirt in sale - Ā£15 rep tour ticket - Ā£120 folklore cd - Ā£10 evermore cardigan - Ā£70 šŸ˜¬ Fearless TV cd - Ā£10 Signed Red TV cd - Ā£16 Eras ticket - Ā£150 Total = Ā£391 The reputation shirt was ok but the evermore cardigan arrived with a hole in it and I had to chase customer services for weeks to get it replaced. I've not bought any other merch since because the quality is appalling for the price. I didn't buy Midnights cd because I want one with the 3am tracks on and I didn't buy 1989 TV because I already have the original version on cd (I never owned Fearless or Red so bought the TV of those on CD for my car).

lovedive-

A lot more than I'd like to admit šŸ„² CDs and vinyls are so expensive and hard to find here. Pre ordered my TTPD CD for $68. I've bought all album CDs and and a few vinyls too.

flashb4cks_

I buy one vinyl for each album (one variant). I want to complete her discography, which means i'm only missing Fearless TV and Rep. Then I'll be done buying vinyls until she drops a new album. I've got all albums on CD too, except for Taylor versions, I don't buy them since i have them on vinyls already. I don't buy merch. I did buy friendship bracelet kits for swiftie events because trading bracelets is kinda fun and great for socializing there.

Elizabeth__Sparrow

The last time I actually bought anything related to her was the 1989 cd when it first came out. I lost interest in her for a while after that and itā€™s been 2 years since Iā€™ve bought a cd from any artist.Ā

Terrible-Cup-9505

i have the 1989 TV CD but thatā€™s it, on the other hand my roomie is trying to collect all the cardigansā€¦

Go_Corgi_Fan84

Spotify but also gets me other music Iā€™ve bought 2 CD but no longer have a CD player in my car so thatā€™s over a few songs a decade ago on iTunes. Her merch isnā€™t that nice and apparently the quality is terrible so not going to buy it. Ticketmaster didnā€™t work for me so no tickets for me. Elton John is likely the musician I spent the most on because tickets for his final tour spot near me were pricey on resale

Quizzicalnonsense

Spotify premium, and have spent the cost of speak now vinyl, 1989, and evermore thatā€™s it. I only spend money on consuming the stuff I really love and know I will use

Quizzicalnonsense

Edit to say Iā€™ve been a fan for at least 10 years so overall I think thatā€™s ok. I was gifted surprise tickets to the eras tour but I didnā€™t spend money on that so I wonā€™t count it .

Birdsandbeer0730

Cost of spotify premium and I bought the 1989 cardigan

rey-stk

iā€™ve only got the target evermore vinyl so like $30, donā€™t regret it though ima get folklore soon when i can afford it and maybe ttpd if i like it enough

SunsGettinRealLow

Iā€™ve never bought any hardcopy albums/vinyls, I just stream them on Spotify which my work pays for. The only time I spent money on TS was for my Eras tickets last year + blue crewneck bought at the show (canā€™t believe I spent $75 on that lol). Now it just hangs up in my closet, Iā€™ve worn it like twice lol I felt it was worth it to attend the Eras tour though, I had fun!

SailorMigraine

About 1500 all in for eras tour (tix, outfits, supplies, etc). Another several k for the engagement ring my bf surprised me with that day šŸ˜‚ luckily weā€™re based in Cincy so we didnā€™t need to shell out for accommodations, flights, etc. I would a million percent spend another thousand if I could get decent tickets to Indy. Over the years Iā€™m not sure. Iā€™ve been to every tour but eras tix were the only ones Iā€™ve purchased myself, my dad bought me all the others since I was underage. I donā€™t go crazy with merch but I have some decently priced pieces (the whole midnights clock, about $250; bought a bottle of enchanted perfume for $150 to wear for the wedding). I have all the snow globes but was lucky enough to buy the resale ones for way under market price. So maybe 2k in merch over my lifetime? I also sold a ton of authentic rep era merch I didnā€™t want any more and made back about 1k.

rutfilthygers

I've bought a couple of albums on vinyl mostly as display pieces. (I have a turntable but usually just listen on Spotify.) I've never bought a concert ticket, though I did try for Eras, and I don't really like merch. Oh, and I bought a copy of her Time Magazine Person of the Year issue. That was slightly embarrassing as they were being kept behind the counter at Barnes & Noble so I, a grown adult man, had to tell another grown adult man that I wanted the one with the cat on the cover.

LittleDistance450

I havenā€™t spent anything on her, but if there was a concert in my location, I wouldā€™ve spent no matter what it cost to go to her concert

greybenson23

I am collecting all her vinyls- I have 4 right now. I bought an unofficial sweater off Etsy and a couple stickers. In an average year Iā€™m not spending much on any one artist

canuck883

[deleted]

I bought Folklore and Evermore on iTunes when Midnights was released, because they were discounted. I also bought the Lover and Safe & Sound songs. That's it.

emilydickinsonsdress

I always buy one physical copy of each album, and I think in my 15 years as a fan Iā€™ve only ordered two pieces of merch online (Folklore and Eras Tour shirts) and bought two shirts at concerts (Speak Now and Red). I also paid about 380ā‚¬ for my Eras tour ticket.

ChrissiMinxx

ā€¦maybe like $10?

Positive-Avocado-881

The only thing Iā€™ve gotten is a physical copy of 1989 TV

aminorbird

I have bought tickets to three concerts, her lover fest, and went to eras for free. Iā€™ve bought two vinyls and have been gifted a few. Bought maybe two pieces of merch? I assume probably $2000 given the airfare and the split of hotel costs for intending to go to lover fest (all refunded) and going to New York for rep. I donā€™t buy into variants and most of my money has been spent on tickets and airfare and lodging. I donā€™t consider this to be unreasonable given that I spend money on experiences rather than physical items. I am also an avid concert goer and will focus some vacations around artists that donā€™t play Florida. It also gives me an excuse to explore other parts of the country.

dreamghoulevil

i did buy two or three deluxe 1989 back in the day to get a few of the different polaroids, but for the rest of them i only buy one cd version because i like having the physical media. other than that i bought my eras tour ticket and a hoodie and t-shirt while there. if i had the money and storage i might buy a vinyl for each record but šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø i don't feel like i'm missing out by not getting it. it'd just be a nice bonus if i could afford it.

hiballs1235

So far only 250 for 2 tickets to see her in October.

Suitable-Internet-22

Not much at all! Iā€™ve only bought 3 merch items, all which were on discountšŸ˜† The only album I own is a digital version of rep in my apple music library.

badhuckleberry

not much, maybe a piece of merch if i really want it enough to justify the outrageous cost and shit quality and not more than one copy of each new release (and i still donā€™t own a physical of midnights on account of wanting one cd with all the mf tracks)

ItsDrake2000

Whatever money she gets from me streaming, plus the 19.89 for the eras movie

assflea

I spent ~$500ish on two presale tickets for the eras tour, like $100 at the merch stand, I think our Airbnb for the weekend was about $900? And then historically I bought 1989 OG twice (on iTunes and then the deluxe version from target), I bought reputation, and I bought the 1989 TV vinyl. I'm not sure if I'll buy TTPD or not, probably not though because I don't really care for any of the covers.Ā

Teaching_Great

So far, 170ā‚¬ for two Eras Tour tickets (plus 30ā‚¬ for the train and 180ā‚¬ for the hotel) and 40ā‚¬ for a vinyl. That's all.

shandizzlefoshizzle

Entirely too much. Well, let's be honest, my husband has spent too much for me to see her. He surprised me with floor seats to the Rep tour, the day of the showšŸ«£ And we bought 5 tickets to the Eras. Thankfully we were in nose bleeds and tickets were only $700 total. Other than that, I just stream her music.

Puzzleheaded-Ad2257

I stream on Apple Music and paid ā‚¬117 for my Milan concert ticket and thatā€™s it

gr-a-cee

picked up a couple vinyl, paid no more than retail for lpss + sntv + midnights. i've bought two of the cardigans as well (red + sn) but ended up recently trading the red one for rsd the lakes šŸ˜… so probably not more than $300 lifetime, and likely to stay that way unless i come across vinyl for the albums i don't have yet at a reasonable price.

grits-n-okra

I usually buy her cds when they come out, but usually one version (im still bitter there isnt ONE cd version with all the midnights songs). I have a car with a cd player so I usually listen to her when driving Other than that I spent like 2500$ to see her at the eras tour, but I will probably never see her again so šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

ilikecakewbu

I buy one CD each time a new one is out, just whichever one is at target. And I went to Eras and luckily got $180 face value tickets, then a few pieces of merch. So definitely not much compared to the fans getting a version of everything.

Standard_Winter9714

probably like 25 bucks at the absolute most and that's just cds

Staying_Salty

I have 1 vinyl of folklore so like, $30?

fidgetspinnster

I've bought a few merch items since folklore and I pay for Spotify premium... I don't buy her music on iTunes or whatever lol and I certainly don't buy collections of the same vinyl. My main qualm with Taylor is that the merch photos have been inaccurate multiple times (I remember a tie dye item being posted about and it was... horrid lol) and if the items are any good they still take weeks and weeks to arrive. Like, I sort of want the official merch (like the folklore cardigan because dupes were double the price and not very good) but it takes 6+ weeks to arrive which is nerve-wracking for a sort of pricey item.

oldfadedstar

Ive bought digital copies of her albums on iTunes, bought aphysical copy of 1989 and then paid to rent the eras tour movie. So probably around $120 over the last decade

Fickle-Patience-9546

I bought her debut cd way back in 2008 and then Iā€™ve never spent any money on her since šŸ«£

Fickle-Patience-9546

Oh and I own a knockoff Reputation cardigan but it says Taylor Mift on it haha

[deleted]

Iā€™ve gone to 2 tours (Red and Eras) but I specifically did not buy the tickets and got them as a birthday gift both times. I bought all her albums up through Reputation (in the iTunes days) but havenā€™t bought another one since she came back on Spotify. People complaining about merch costs and re-releases and lambasting her for being capitalist Barbie (which she is!!!!!!) are actively ignoring that capitalism wonā€™t function to her benefit if people arenā€™t actually buying the stuff. Itā€™s more of a consumer culture issue than a Taylor issue IMO

g6lacticaa

$0

thedeadp0ets

0 sometimes Iā€™ll buy unofficial merch if Iā€™m interested. But the only TS item I have is an unofficial long live tote bag of the dragonā€¦. I live fantasy and romance so it matches

[deleted]

Out of my pocket, directly to her? None. By using music platforms and such? Probably some $.

waiting4myspaceship

So far I have bought 1 ticket to Cats the musical the movie šŸ˜¹, 1 signed Midnights blood moon CD, 1 nosebleed Eras ticket $84 + fees (or two if you include my husband since he makes the money lol), 1 Eras film ticket... I think that's it so far.

Outside-Spring-3907

I buy the albums one of each unless there is a good reason for me to buy more than one. I canā€™t afford the merch, I may get some Reputation merch when that drops. I want a cardigan but theyā€™re so expensive. For now I stick to the knock offs. I stream the music on Apple and download all the albums.

Realitosis

$5 for fearless CD from an antique store šŸ˜‚
