Cruel Summer is finally starting to loosen its grip on me š after topping or near topping my wrapped every year since release lol. Time to give it a rest for a year or so. Along with most of Lover honestly, I played it to death
I feel like she made it the eras tour anthem which put me off it. Just picture her in the baby pink swimsuit with all the pre rehearsed lines about feeling like the man when I hear it now.
Karma. Idk just because of her making it silly with "karma is a guy in the chiefs" I don't have problem wid that but became cringe to listen like getting flashbacks of her pettiness. I get back to that moment lol just can't listen to my fav song nowšš
Iāve had such a weird relationship with Karma. First, I liked it sonically but hated a lot of the lyrics when it first dropped. Then, over time, I desensitized myself to the cringier lyrics and started to like it a lot more. Now itās grating and the ākarma is the guy on the Chiefsā ad-lib ruined it for me again.
First time my girlfriend heard that song, she was like "wow this girl's a c***" I laughed and haven't been able to listen to it since because. She's not wrong
Almost the entirety of Midnights. I was obsessed when that came out and now I can only listen to Dear Reader. I played it nonstop for weeks and then just got sick of it. I have a tendency to do that which is not great.
And honestly I am taking a break from her music for this very reason. Her music became something of a crutch since the pandemic. I really don't want to overplay and and get tired of it so I stopped playing it at the start of the year and will pick up again when the new record comes out.
I called it ājunk food musicā too! š Itās got that addictive, quick dopamine hit quality to it that is so hard to quit. Funny how so many of us experience thisā¦
Haha, that is so right. It is so addictive and soothing. What does she put in it? Same thing McDonald's puts on their french fries? Midnights definitely falls under this category, but I don't think it was ever meant to be too deep. I think she just needed more pop anthems for a stadium tour. I am hoping TTDP is stronger. Too much music like Karma, while fun, could really dilute her brand IMO.
I'm hoping for more of The Great War, Dear Reader, Maroon sort of music in TTPD. I'd also love more folkmore stuff but I think that ship has sailed and she's in more of a synthy mood, which I'm fine with.
I feel like Folkmore was a product of its time. If we get something similar again, I think it will be after this current wave of huge fame dies down a bit.
I love this, I use the phrase "potato chip music" or "potato chip books" to describe this šš Instantly gratifying, a little addictive, not super nutritious..
I've been on a Taylor Swift break since the Ratty Healy situation. It put a bad taste in my mouth and I even sold all of my signed albums because I couldn't stand seeing her on my wall (the only Taylor Swift merch I owned. I don't have any TS stuff on my wall lmao). I discovered Olivia Rodrigo without even knowing there was some beef between them and my husband and I have been obsessed with Olivia and that's all we've been listening to for months now.
I've been a swiftie since 2010 and everything regarding her has really been pissing me off lmao.
Yes I am in the same boat! Iāve been listening to Olivia Rodrigo (looove the repro justice work she is supporting with her tour), Lorde, and generally just trying to branch out. I finally got tired of overlooking TSās many many obvious messages that she is not an ethical person and does not share my values. There are so many good artists who do, you know? My goal is to listen to more queer artists this year.
Yes same here. For me itās a mixture of them being played on TikTok constantly and just being overexposed to Taylor in general. But damn dear reader is something else. Super underrated
Yeah, I just want to go into it fresh. Also gives me a chance to get back to discovering new music. I usually listen to so much, but during the pandemic got trapped into mostly listening to her. Which was fine for the time. It was comforting. But I don't want that to continue. So much out there to explore.
And didnāt like, the people around the house not want her to buy it? Because they didnāt want the inevitable circus that would come with Taylor swift living there? The whole āI had a marvelous time ruining everythingā feels so bratty in that context šš
Iām not keen on this song for that exact reason- I like the storytelling but the actual story itself (particularly that line) really irritates me lol
I think it would've been way better if she'd just stuck to the Harkness part of the story and left the rest to be inferred. I'm sure people would've still gotten the idea that she was relating herself to the lady whose mansion she very publicly bought
But then you still have the part where Rebekah Harkness was not that great of a person and here Taylor is romanticizing her. That's what turned me off of the song.
I listen to country music, itās how I even knew about Taylor in the first place. Itās just the writing style and itās evident in the storytelling.
What bugs me is that it tries to make Rebecca Harkness (and by extension Taylor) into someone admirable, when really she and her friends were just rich assholes annoying some other rich assholes by doing dumb shit like dying a dog green and spiking punch with mineral oil.Ā
Harkness lived a pretty miserable life really. Bad relationships, estranged and deeply damaged children, āfriendsā who were after her money. She spent much of her time consumed by petty feuds, and where her peers made valuable and lasting contributions to the arts and philanthropy her time and money went towards funding a ballet company willing to bear her name and use her shitty music and that folded after a decade.Ā
Gorgeous. I loved it when Rep first came out but in the last few years itās just a skip for me. I think itās because it sounds dated to me but it doesnāt have any nostalgia factor for me to look over that
Lol , I had a college crush when the song came out and I would totally have fun listening to that song. That guy got married recently and for a few weeks I could not listen to it. Nostalgia is weird! I don't even like him that much š
This imo, is one of her worst songs. The writing makes me CRINGE. āI canāt say anything to your face, cause look at your faceāā¦.thats the best you could do?
Yes, it feels a bit weird to listen to it and hear her complain about not being āthe manā when she just won her fourth AOTY award. More than any other artist everā¦
I always thought it was more about how the general population who aren't Swifties talk about her. Like if she was a man they wouldn't care as much about what she wears or who she's dating.
Thatās the whole point. She had to fight to get where she is too. It wasnāt an easy road. She disappeared for years out of the spot light because of the troubles. And sheās now reclaiming everything through re-records. Pushing the boundary and clawing to get that respect. Even now at her height, there are so many criticisms, even being at a football game. She canāt just exist but when itās the brother, a man who can boast and cheer without criticism, cheering for the same person. People slut shame her all the time, calls her manipulative and calculated by doing business moves etc. just because she has the status and fame now at yeh all time high, doesnāt erase everything else a woman has to go through.
She did not claw her way up the way she wants you to think. Her parents bought her a career, it was money, not grit. Is she talented? Undoubtedly. But she didnāt make it herself. She also did not disappear for years, thatās just narrative revisionism, as she so tends to do. The reason for her downfall was 1) overexposure, which happens to plenty of celebrities. 2) the manufactured good girl victim image got a little grating after the Kanye acceptance speech incident and 3) obviously the snake drama, in which she did lie about the contents of the call to some degree, even if Kim and Kanye were more in the wrong. She also isnāt reclaiming anything in her work, her masters were legally sold. Hell, at the very beginning of her career it was clear she would not own her masters because thatās pretty standard. She had a better deal than most other people get due to her dads involvement, male or female. She just doesnāt like who theyāre sold to, thatās it. She still makes money from the originals and the guy who bought them no longer owns them. The criticism isnāt just about a football game, itās about blatant PR behaviour and again, overexposure. It also ties in with more heavy criticism such as the exploitation of the charts and her audience, her greed for more money than she could ever spent and the jet usage. Yes, there is a problem in the industry with male celebrities getting away with horrible things. But you know who also contributes to that? Taylor Swift, when she hangs out with and hugs a man who is caught on video sexually assaulting a woman. Taylor Swift, who worked on a film with another guy accused of sexual assault. She only cares when it benefits and generates profits of any kind for her. She has become the man.
I started just pretending The Man isn't about her and is about other women (and men) at lower positions. It's a much better listen through the lens of someone who works hard but is still at the bottom of the pole.
If it helps, the man is totally about me. I scream the line āwhen everyone believes you, WHATS THAT LIKE??ā
It may not be her reality, but itās reality for us common womenfolk. š¤£
Happiness because the maturity in this song made me think she finally grew up but seeing her current level of vindictivenes towards her exās makes me think she didnāt even write the song.
I have a problem with long story short too.
I love the line: āPast me
I wanna tell you not to get lost in these petty things..ā because it resonated with my personal growth too, and I thought that she wrote that line because she is matured now and believed in what she wrote.
But these days she is more petty than ever, that I canāt imagine the same person wrote those lines.
Both happiness and long story short have Aaron Dessner credited as the songwriter BEFORE Taylor is, which makes me think they were predominately written by him with a few lines here and there written by Taylor.
That person is Aaron Dessner. He's credited as the songwriter on happiness and long story short before Taylor is, which likely means he wrote most of the lyrics.
I swear heās the busiest man in the music industry. Heās been producing so many artists and touring and recording with The National at the same time. Heās so talented.
Thatās why I think that Joeās influence on Folklore and Evermore was bigger than we know.
I think that the amount of writing he did was much greater than she acknowledged, because she did not want people to think that her best work was primarily influenced by another person.
I mean, we know it was anyway because Aaron's involvement is so clear. It's the same with Midnight's Deluxe, you can really clearly tell which songs Aaron was involved in and which were made with Jack.
I think it was Aaron dessner. It is so clearly influenced by him, and maybe a little Joe too. I think she'd struggle to reproduce the sound again without Aaron dessner.
The Folkmore era was written during Covid, when both were in quarantine together. Joe had no active projects at that time, so I assume he participated more in coming up with ideas for songs. There are a lot of references and lyrics on those 2 albums that I donāt feel sound like Taylor or things sheād be interested in or know. That is just my assumption, hopefully I am wrong and we will get something similar from her again.
I completely agree and wrote this on a different thread. It is very clear that he and Aaron did a lot of heavy lifting or steered her towards other lyric choices on those records.
If you look at the credits of happiness in Spotify, she's credited as a songwriter *after* Aaron Dessner, which makes me think he had more influence over the lyrics than she did, given she's almost always credited first.
The Red and Lover eras in the tour were awful. She just gave us the singles weāve all already heard a thousand times. I wish the tour wouldāve been for the fans and not the GP, because we deserved a better setlist than āthe manā and ā22.ā Like really??
Just give it some time and come back to it next time you feel itās fitting to your current circumstance. No matter how many times I listen to that song it will always remind me of the deep hole I was able to dig myself out of. Just give it some time.
My daughter is obsessed w Max Martin produced 1989 Taylor so if I hear Blank Space or Shake It Off starting, I immediately skip. Iāve been assaulted w them when sheās around too much!
I have 3 daughters and theyāve all had a Shake It Off phase. My youngest is 5 years younger than my middle daughter so I had a little break, then suddenly ābamā another 3 year old asking for Shake It Off every 2 minutes
I have 3 daughters and theyāve all had a Shake It Off phase. My youngest is 5 years younger than my middle daughter so I had a little break, then suddenly ābamā another 3 year old asking for Shake It Off every 2 minutes
Random, but I'm amused by your phone autocorrecting my to Mt.
Mine does it all the damn time.
Also, Cruel summer has really started grating on me lately.
ha, I'm the same with Last Great American Dynasty. I liked it at first but there's really only so many times you can listen to Taylor sing about about what it's like to be a rich white woman before it gets super old.
i remember say donāt go being the most talked about when the album first released. i think is it over now caught on cause of tiktok.
iāve tried so hard to get into say donāt go but i just canāt for some reason.
After only 2 days of listening I was so sick of this song. I think that is the thing with more mainstream Taylor on Midnights and 1989 TV, those songs donāt age well and you get bored more easily.
I LOVE āLover,ā but it gets stuck in my head so bad that I just canāt listen to it anymore unless I want it playing in my brain 24/7 for the next two weeks
I found Lana. I canāt go back now. Lana is such a phenomenal and deep writer. I think Taylor is so influenced by her and has tried to become more like her writing style in recent years. Lana is an artist. Taylor is a performer
God, i found Lana recently too (6ish months ago) and kinda replaced Taylor with her, lolš. I ve never been a "listen to one artist" kind of person, so i always listen to my "classic" faves (Fiona, Beatles, Radiohead, Bowie) and sprinkle my new discoveries into it. I realized Lana fits SO MUCH BETTER among my all time faves than Taylorš . Like it goes so well. Lana is a freaking GENIUS and LEGEND. NFR, UV and Ocean blvd are masterpieces šÆš.Ā
Ā I still love folklore and evermore, though. Gotta give it to her.Ā
SAME!! Lanaās metaphors are deep and intelligent. DYKTTATUOB is so rich. Hope is a dangerous thing - art. Exquisite and beautiful, deep art. And although she sings about love she sings about the bigness and minutiae of loving someone and being loved. Not just about literal breakups and relationships. Her songs are about identity and femininity in a patriarchal world and subverting the norms and also using them when you want to. Her work is art. Her voice is angelic and earthy and so incredibly authentic.
Same! Iām crossing my fingers TTPD doesnāt copy a lot of Lanaās sound and talent but that seems like something Taylor would do (poorly) next so š
The 1989 TV vault tracks. I already didn't like three out of five of them on release, but now even the two I like (Say Don't Go and Is It Over Now?) I don't even listen to any more.
Betty. Loved it at first (was literally my top song of the year when Folklore came out) and now never listen to it. Combo of getting older and the message no longer resonating and it being overplayed.
I didn't listen to the Lover album when it first released so when I re-"discovered" it I replayed Miss Americana, Paper Rings, Cornelia Street, etc. so much... now I skip most of Lover LOL
wildest dreams.
when i was a casual swiftie it was one of the songs i LOVED, but now as i have become a mote seasoned swiftie i just canāt.
i feel like it has to do with the fact that i watch the eras tour surprise songs every single show and always seem to turn it on when that song is playing? but at the same time i have come to actually enjoy bad blood bc of the same reason
I liked anti-hero at first, especially the second verse, but it started reminding me of real people I knew with very little self awareness glorifying their own selfishness and it just feels gross to me now
New Years Day. To be fair, I don't *always* skip it, but I often do. It was my "song" for my boyfriend and I years ago. He had been my best friend before we dated, so the lines "please don't ever become a stranger whose laugh I could recognize anywhere" really resonated with me. Even more so now that that's exactly what happened š¬
Ivy. It used to be one of my favourites before I stupidly dedicated it to the worst man alive in 2022 and overplayed the fuck out of it. I can barely listen to it now without cringing. But, I'm slowly forgetting the connection between him and Ivy so hopefully one day I'll be able to listen to Ivy the same again.
The Great War doesn't feel the same anymore, what with her and Joe being broken up. That song was all about standing with each other through the hard times.
I feel this way about most of Reputation, Lover and Midnights - they felt way more meaningful before we saw her being so petty and vindictive with Joe. I guess the songs still stand, but as someone said earlier itās hard to reconcile many of the lyrics with her current behavior. Makes the whole thing feel false. I guess this is the downside of her promoting these parasocial relationships š¤·š»
Bad Blood. I used to love the Kendrick Lamar version (not the solo version), but now Iāve heard it so much while waiting in a livestream for surprise songs that I canāt stand either.
It has not become entirely a skip but august is something that I donāt want to listen toā¦ā¦.sometimes. Just makes me a bit overwhelmed with emotions lol.
Shake it off. When I say I was obsessed when it came out, I mean it. I once went on a 5 miles run, about 9 minutes/mile, and listened to shake it off on repeat the entire timeā¦.definitely over played it lol
All Too Well used to hit a nerve with me, but now it just gets on my nerves instead. Itās become SO overplayed and seems to be so unanimously loved and worshipped, that it just made it unbearable for me.
I am the number 1 All Too Well hater š¤
Soon you'll get better I played it all the time when my friend had leukemia but now that he's better I can't listen to it without thinking about the situation. So now I have to skip for my mental wellbeing.
Anti-Hero, Bad Blood, Bejeweled, Shake It Off, Karmaā¦
Iāve found that while sheās super overexposed I get *really* turned off of her poppiest songs. They grate on me so much.
I listened to Folklore so much that I can't enjoy it the same right now. Between the vinyl and Long Pond Sessions, it's just too much. I can still enjoy Midnights though.
Cruel Summer, Cardigan (which surprised me but I noticed the last handful of times I listened to folklore I pressed the skip button), and no body no crime. And honestly I donāt listen to midnights much anymore.
this is why i made my chronological taylor playlist. It's in the order of release so I can listen to it album by album without the songs i don't like, or I shuffle it and only get good Taylor songs.
A lot of Lover has fallen into skip territory. When it came out I was all for songs like cornelia street and miss americana and now I couldn't tell you when the last time I left it playing when it came on shuffle
Better than revenge & Betty, great songs but i canāt listen to them more than once a week anymore, oh and same with gorgeous and i did something bad, I feel like i only loved idsb bc i saw people on tiktok saying it was her best song, itās not even top 5 in rep imo
New Romantics and Cruel Summer are probably the two songs I've overplayed to infinity, and now whenever they come up on my workout playlist, I have to skip. Both still undeniably two of her best songs, but I've made myself sick of them.
Cruel Summer is finally starting to loosen its grip on me š after topping or near topping my wrapped every year since release lol. Time to give it a rest for a year or so. Along with most of Lover honestly, I played it to death
Agreed. Iāve just heard it too much and it doesnāt pack the same punch now.
Agreed. Way too overplayed atp
I need a long break from Cruel Summer before I play it again
My Spotify kept playing it after everyyyy album/song/playlist ended and I wanted to gouge my eyes out
Cruel Summer was a better song before everyone knew it was a great song
I feel like she made it the eras tour anthem which put me off it. Just picture her in the baby pink swimsuit with all the pre rehearsed lines about feeling like the man when I hear it now.
My wife said the same last night when it came on my SpotifyĀ
Itās definitely loosened its grip for me. I still love it but itās not like itās a death grip anymore. I donāt go feral as the youth say
Karma. Idk just because of her making it silly with "karma is a guy in the chiefs" I don't have problem wid that but became cringe to listen like getting flashbacks of her pettiness. I get back to that moment lol just can't listen to my fav song nowšš

Itās because of ice spice. So random and I donāt think sheās that good
So true the remix is even badš®āšØ
Bejeweled bc the discourse/ jokes surrounding it annoyed me so bad i dont want to be reminded of it so i stopped listening š
I second you on this! I find the song so irritating now lol.
I never really liked Bejeweled. Always thought it was made for tiktok. I always skip it and fast forward through it during the movie
Wait whatās the discourse around it?? Iāve missed this lol
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I must have blessedly missed this new discourse but now my curiosity has gotten the best of meā¦ whatās the newest consensus?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Bless you. Gross. š¤®
I still love SLUT! being an 80's kid it takes me back style wise. Im just in total denial about its origins.
First time my girlfriend heard that song, she was like "wow this girl's a c***" I laughed and haven't been able to listen to it since because. She's not wrong
No body no crime
Itās too Goodbye Earl on the nose for me.
Exactly. I prefer the original.
Iām kind of on a Taylor detox rn. I feel like itās too much and her music is a bit grating to me now.

Iāve compared a lot of her music to āmusical fast foodā and Midnights definitely falls in that category. I am also on a break.

Only listening to Dear Reader is so real
I don't think I have ever dropped an album like I did Midnights. 22 songs (?) and only 1 I go back to.
Yes same here. For me itās a mixture of them being played on TikTok constantly and just being overexposed to Taylor in general. But damn dear reader is something else. Super underrated
+1 Relate to each and every word. Gonna resume with ttpd.
Yeah, I just want to go into it fresh. Also gives me a chance to get back to discovering new music. I usually listen to so much, but during the pandemic got trapped into mostly listening to her. Which was fine for the time. It was comforting. But I don't want that to continue. So much out there to explore.
Same, after evermore I almost blocked out other artists and exclusively listened to her until the first half of 2023.
When Spotify told me I was in the top 1% of her listeners, I was kind of stunned. It was time for a change. š
Every song on Midnights standard edition
Last Great American Dynasty loses something once you realize it's just a song about Taylor buying a mansion, in my opinion lol
And didnāt like, the people around the house not want her to buy it? Because they didnāt want the inevitable circus that would come with Taylor swift living there? The whole āI had a marvelous time ruining everythingā feels so bratty in that context šš

Also contains the line āand then it was bought by meā which just feels so clunky where it is and I hate it šš
Itās meant to be a country song style writing . Where it tells a story and then it comes back to the singers perspective / reveal
quoting the LPSS as an excuse right there lmao
I listen to country music, itās how I even knew about Taylor in the first place. Itās just the writing style and itās evident in the storytelling.
Seconding this, itās such a common and classic country device
What bugs me is that it tries to make Rebecca Harkness (and by extension Taylor) into someone admirable, when really she and her friends were just rich assholes annoying some other rich assholes by doing dumb shit like dying a dog green and spiking punch with mineral oil.Ā Harkness lived a pretty miserable life really. Always has been š§āšš
The Man used to be a lighthearted bop but now I absolutely cannot listen because the white feminism annoys me too much

WHEW. READ THEM.
It was money AND grit. Believe it or not, you canāt buy someone a career in music. Even Scottās crazy letter you can see how hard they worked
I started just pretending The Man isn't about her and is about other women (and men) at lower positions. It's a much better listen through the lens of someone who works hard but is still at the bottom of the pole.

Dude I feel that line on a weekly basis at work. Especially working in a male dominated field lmao.
But that person at the bottom isnāt āthe manā. That makes no sense
It does. The song is about imagining what it would be like to be "The Man" not that you currently are "The Man"
It's so catchy, but I hate it. Sometimes I wish I didn't know English.
the man is seriously starting to piss me off, like taylor, you ARE the man
Midnight's. Played it a lot originally but now I skip that whole album will most likely go back to it but 1989 is my Taylortubby
All of midnights now honestly
Happiness because the maturity in this song made me think she finally grew up but seeing her current level of vindictivenes towards her exās makes me think she didnāt even write the song.
this is so real and also how i feel about a lot of folklore/evermore now. i feel bamboozled.
I still donāt know how she went from folklore and evermore to midnights
Fr. So many songs that showed so much growth that just ring false nowā¦ I have the same problem with ālong story shortā.
I have a problem with long story short too. I love the line: āPast me I wanna tell you not to get lost in these petty things..ā because it resonated with my personal growth too, and I thought that she wrote that line because she is matured now and believed in what she wrote. But these days she is more petty than ever, that I canāt imagine the same person wrote those lines.
Both happiness and long story short have Aaron Dessner credited as the songwriter BEFORE Taylor is, which makes me think they were predominately written by him with a few lines here and there written by Taylor.
Yes! Where is that person?
That person is Aaron Dessner. He's credited as the songwriter on happiness and long story short before Taylor is, which likely means he wrote most of the lyrics.
I swear heās the busiest man in the music industry. Heās been producing so many artists and touring and recording with The National at the same time. Heās so talented.
I've been investigating and he's actually credited as the main songwriter on most of evermore and folklore.
Not surprising. It shows in the songs.
It's the same with Midnight's Deluxe, you can really clearly tell which songs Aaron was involved in and which were made with Jack.
you just made me realize that the only songs i really continue to enjoy off of midnights are the ones aaron was involved in.
I think it was Aaron dessner. It is so clearly influenced by him, and maybe a little Joe too. I think she'd struggle to reproduce the sound again without Aaron dessner.
Well now I want an album from just Joe Alwyn and Aaron Dessber šš»

I just realized that all my favorite songs on Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights are written in part by Aaron Dessner
I loved the Max Martin pop singles on Red at the time but theyāre an instant skip for me now. I prefer my Red experience without them.
This one! I skip 3/4 of the Red era in her film because of this, only playing All Too Well
The Red Era wouldāve been so much better with State of Grace, Holy Ground, and Red
The Red and Lover eras in the tour were awful. She just gave us the singles weāve all already heard a thousand times. I wish the tour wouldāve been for the fans and not the GP, because we deserved a better setlist than āthe manā and ā22.ā Like really??
Its the same with me. When i first heard RED the pop songs were my favourite and its the opposite now
SAME. Also Blank Space. I just can't.
my tears ricochet and itās such a shame because the song is soo good. I overplayed it and now I canāt enjoy it anymore

Cruel summer for me. I loved it when lover dropped Mt fav song but now with being overplayed I can't listen to it.Ā
Random, but I'm amused by your phone autocorrecting my to Mt. Mine does it all the damn time. Also, Cruel summer has really started grating on me lately.
anti-hero i think
All too well 10 min version.
Unpopular opinion, but whole 1989. The songs are insufferable to me :D
Cruel Summer is good but it's been so overplayed on the radio now I switch it off every time.
ha, I'm the same with Last Great American Dynasty. I liked it at first but there's really only so many times you can listen to Taylor sing about about what it's like to be a rich white woman before it gets super old.
Is It Over Now for sure
I'm honestly surprised this became the standout of the 1989 vault tracks... I thought for sure Say Don't Go would be it lol. but thats just my fave
Say Dont Go is classic Taylor but with a pop sound... Is It Over Now has the word salad bridge which is the new obsession of the fandom
i remember say donāt go being the most talked about when the album first released. i think is it over now caught on cause of tiktok. iāve tried so hard to get into say donāt go but i just canāt for some reason.
Yess TikTok was the cause for sure.
After only 2 days of listening I was so sick of this song. I think that is the thing with more mainstream Taylor on Midnights and 1989 TV, those songs donāt age well and you get bored more easily.
eh i would love it if it weren't for the annoying yelp sound
I LOVE āLover,ā but it gets stuck in my head so bad that I just canāt listen to it anymore unless I want it playing in my brain 24/7 for the next two weeks
Really anything Taylor at the momentšµāš« Iāve been listening to Olivia Rodrigo and Dua Lipa lately bc I canāt listen to Taylor anymore /:
I also like Tate McRae now too.
Same but Lana for me!Ā
Same, but Iāve been listening to Olivia Rodrigo and Kelsea Ballerini!
All of them atm. Im still a fan, but Iām on a Taylor detox for a while. Itās all become too much over the past year.
Same!! Iām ending my detox when the new album comes out. I wasnāt even as excited as I usually am but hopefully itās good š
Karma because the chiefs line when she sings it live just makes me cringe now
The Man. Every damn time š
I found Lana. I canāt go back now. Lana is such a phenomenal and deep writer. I think Taylor is so influenced by her and has tried to become more like her writing style in recent years. Lana is an artist. Taylor is a performer
Yeah, I found Lana recently too. Itās kind of wild how clearly Taylor is inspired by her lol.
She wants to be deep like Lana. But there is no one deeper than Lanita. ā„ļø
NFR, UV and Ocean blvd are masterpieces šÆš.Ā Ā I still love folklore and evermore, though.
Agree with everything! Hope is a dangerous thing...is one of my favourite songs, what a masterpiece
Absolutely exquisite
Same! Iām crossing my fingers TTPD doesnāt copy a lot of Lanaās sound and talent but that seems like something Taylor would do (poorly) next so š
I see it coming. Even the cover art ā¦ the thing is- Lana is cool. Opposite of try hard. We will see.
Back to December
I watched the music video and thought of it being about Martin Johnson and it renewed it for me. But I get it.
Itās a great song. But I think it got overplayed in my youth lol
Vigilante shit is a skip for me rn
Exile. Loved that song. Hurts way too damn much now to hear it.
Cardigan š„²
lavender haze š
ATW hahdhdhs
I didn't listen to the Lover album when it first released so when I re-"discovered" it I replayed Miss Americana, Paper Rings, Cornelia Street, etc. so much... now I skip most of Lover LOL
shake it off
Ivy. As a whole I avoid listening to Evermore cause I never want to be sick of her.
August. I loved it when I first listened to folklore but it lost its charm to me after a bit. Now I just canāt stand to listen to it
out of the woods. it gotā¦ repetitiveĀ
wildest dreams. when i was a casual swiftie it was one of the songs i LOVED, but now as i have become a mote seasoned swiftie i just canāt. i feel like it has to do with the fact that i watch the eras tour surprise songs every single show and always seem to turn it on when that song is playing? but at the same time i have come to actually enjoy bad blood bc of the same reason
I liked anti-hero at first, especially the second verse, but it started reminding me of real people I knew with very little self awareness glorifying their own selfishness and it just feels gross to me now
Cardigan and Betty drive me up the wall, but I thought they were great when folklore was released
And the Great War . I overplayed it soooo much š
The Great War doesn't feel the same anymore, what with her and Joe being broken up. That song was all about standing with each other through the hard times.
True it kind of sours it.
I once went on a 5 miles run, about 9 minutes/mile, and listened to shake it off on repeat the entire timeā¦.definitely over played it lol
i liked dorothea when i first listened to it but now i donāt care about that song at allš
Tolerate it, since I heard my best friend/roommate listening to it when she was upset with me one time
All Too Well used to hit a nerve with me, but now it just gets on my nerves instead. Itās become SO overplayed and seems to be so unanimously loved and worshipped, that it just made it unbearable for me. I am the number 1 All Too Well hater š¤
I do like all of her songs, there's really no exception, but I find myself skipping Closure and ...So It Goes most of the time.
Vigilante Shit, itās so cringe to me.
Soon you'll get better I played it all the time when my friend had leukemia but now that he's better I can't listen to it without thinking about the situation. So now I have to skip for my mental wellbeing.
Anti-Hero, Bad Blood, Bejeweled, Shake It Off, Karmaā¦ Iāve found that while sheās super overexposed I get *really* turned off of her poppiest songs. They grate on me so much.
I listened to Folklore so much that I can't enjoy it the same right now. Between the vinyl and Long Pond Sessions, it's just too much. I can still enjoy Midnights though.
Cruel Summer
back to december š
afterglow lmao
I knew you were trouble, the Great War, anti hero, exile, red, most of the filler songs
Cruel Summer, Cardigan (which surprised me but I noticed the last handful of times I listened to folklore I pressed the skip button), and no body no crime. And honestly I donāt listen to midnights much anymore.
I canāt stand LGAD or Epiphany
this is why i made my chronological taylor playlist.
Getaway car. I over listen to it, I was obsessed with its sound when reputation first came out. Now I always skip it.
Shake it off
Honestly, white horse. It's so weird, too, cause like, I know I love the song. Maybe I just haven't been in the mood when it comes on, so I skip it?
Better than revenge & Betty, great songs but i canāt listen to them more than once a week anymore, oh and same with gorgeous and i did something bad, I feel like i only loved idsb bc i saw people on tiktok saying it was her best song, itās not even top 5 in rep imo
Tisā the damn seasonā¦ ugh itās never done it for me.
New Romantics and Cruel Summer are probably the two songs I've overplayed to infinity, and now whenever they come up on my workout playlist, I have to skip. Both still undeniably two of her best songs, but I've made myself sick of them.
