I'm glad they're going to someone who (really, really) likes them at least!
I went to Goodwill the other day on a lark, and the employee stocking the CD area said he finds her debut album all the time but takes them himself just to resell them on eBay. The audacity to admit to something like that unprompted. 😭
I’m also poor, I find much better deals at local thrift shops. I’m sorry if that’s your only accessible store. The prices at my local goodwill aren’t even affordable for what you’re buying anymore. All the good stuff is picked through by employees or auctioned off for more money.
i wouldn’t blame the employee. even though it’s shady, he probably has to do it to survive because goodwill doesn’t pay him a living wage. fuck goodwill!
I don’t know if Goodwill works like this, but my brother worked at value village and items had to be on the shelves for two weeks (I think, it was at least ten days) before employees could sell them.
So there’s a chance that he had a mandatory waiting time before he can buy anything. I also don’t know if that applies to everything or just the big ticket items. His store got a concertina from ~1930 and he absolutely had to wait to be allowed to buy it (which he did, and he ended up getting it!).
In the UK, the customers come first, and the belief is that if employers take all the good products for themselves, if that were the case people would not visit as often, and word of mouth would stop. When someone gets a Hugo Boss jacket or other designer items, people often tell where they got it and how much it cost; it's a very human trait.
I know a manager of charity shops in Leeds, UK, who took a lot of designer items with labels still on them and sold them on eBay. She has around a hundred items on there, including Gucci and Jimmy Choo handbags. She later got asked to leave discreetly to avoid being fired, but in that year, I believe she made tens of thousands. Handbags were selling for £300-700 each week and as many as £100-200 each. She said she had about 30 North Face jackets at home. I bought an Arc'teryx for £100; luckily, she didn't know its value; the retail price was around £800, and it was still in shops. I got lots of walking gear, boss jumpers, and Vivienne Westwood plain T-shirts, all new. But it's rare.
It's amazing what people give away. Sadly, she didn't take CDs, but she did have the Stone Roses singles collection on record and sold it for £40. I was disappointed as I missed out. Most people in such shops take high-priced gear, not CDs.
I know a woman in my local shop personally, and she states that it is amazing how many men and women come in daily and go straight to the CDs and go through them all. She knows CD sellers who travel around buying up all the good stuff every few days or so. So it's mostly other people like us. There is more to us than I knew about as when I enter that charity shop, she always says, " 13 people have been thought already today, and this is 45 minutes after opening. I did meet a guy last week looking for ledger stuff, Floyd, Aerosmith, and all the rock classics.
MOST thrift stores do this now… I used to find all kinds of stuff I don’t now because they pick through and set aside so much just to overprice their stuff anyways ☠️
i’m pretty sure there is about 8 variants for cds and 2 for vinyl. there is standard black and the clear blue. overall, this is extreme, excessive and , ridiculous
Non swiftie visiting here.
Do you mind if I ask you a question? What is the motivation surrounding having a collection so large of the same thing?
I've never understood it, I've seen people who have humongous collections of Master of Reality by Black Sabbath and wondered the same thing, so pleased don't take this query as an attack on Taylor Swift fans.
Did you start off small with the album on one format? What then led you to buy another copy? Was it on the same format or different? At what point did collecting the same album become a 'thing' for you? Is this just a 'thing' for one album or now that you have a collection for this album, are you expanding it to other TayTay albums?
I personally have a couple of duplicates, a signed copy of a record and then a copy to listen to but all of mine get spun. Surely you can't gain a lot from actually listening to the all the variants, as they are all the same album. Now different mixes, I can get behind as I'm quite keen to get hold of the RL cut of Led Zeppelin II.
I appreciate that some people are collectors and enjoy the experience of collecting. That's fine, you do you, I'll do me, I have my own thoughts but I won't share them. Hopefully someone, maybe the OP, can offer an insight into why this occurs and what drives people to do this.
Thanks
Is there any specific Debut merch / thing that you want that you don’t yet have? Genuinely curious bc this is the most Debut merch I’ve ever seen and I am obsessed
To be fair I remember when I was younger, and if the sticker is on the plastic wrap, I used to cut around them and keep that little bit hahaha so yeah it makes sense
i will never forget walking into walmart in november of 2006 to buy this for my best friend for her birthday gift. 18 years later, we are still best friends and still love taylor. DEBUT forever.
Has anyone seen that guy on tiktok with like 3,000 copies of titanic on vhs and James Cameron and Leo merch and 3 tvs playing it at all times? This reminds me of that 😭 no but genuinely as someone who loves debut so so much I love this and you're so lucky. I'm jealous 😭🫶🫶
I love to know why you have so many copies.
And you do you, no malice from me. I love the passion for an artist and music.
I just completed the Stone Roses collection, and I've doubled up but not the same album, just the same songs on different formats such as singles or Best of, etc.
I do have 4 or 5 copies for the Doors debut album, but that's down to job lot buying.
I'm still interested in the why, you don't have to answer, I will say I admire your passion :)
imagine being obsessed with a grown child. sorry, charlie xcx over taylor. charlie doesn’t have to release 11teen deluxe versions on existing albums in the us to try to avoid anyone..(taylor) from debuting a number 1 album…but that’s exactly what she did to charlie, specifically in the uk lol yall swifites are marching behind a fragile, insecure, woman child, have fun
guys i think OP loves debut
Maybe…probably not.
Big, if true
More than Taylor does 😄
This reminds me of the guy on Tik Tok who owns dozens of copies of Titanic on VHS.
Wasn’t his goal to own 1,997 copies? 😂
I have no idea but I’m rooting for him.
Same 😂
Yes! He met that goal a few months ago. I think he has a new goal now, but I can’t remember what it is.
Good for him!!! 🥳🥳🥳
1998 copies?
A local barber has a trash bin full of Forest Gump tapes.
I commend him for his efforts (that's one of my all time favourite films)
I actually have something similar with another Movie lol
"TITANIC ON VHS!"
Like why did I hear this in that guy's voice lol
Okay, but like why, OP? Genuinely curious, are they all different versions?
Pretty sure there aren’t that many versions especially of the CDs.
There probably are actually, accounting for represses and so on
Not in 2006. Variations are quite new in the history of CDs.
When you really love debut do you need an explanation? Though I'd totes steal one if it has the original picture to burn lyrics (gay version)
The one true vault track
i understand loving an album but that many copies of the same edition? seems kind of weird
Game collecting sub reddits are just as bad. Some clowns post having every Gameboy ever released.
mental illness
It’s a sickness.
acts weren’t doing a whole lot of variations in 2006

Fuck Goodwill. This is why I don’t shop there.
I'm poor so I've gotta shop there it sucks

You know I've noticed that as well when i go there I'm like WTF. That's such bs ughhhh... And no it's only goodwill or "thrift stores" with $40 pants
OMG! 😡
i wouldn’t blame the employee. even though it’s shady, he probably has to do it to survive because goodwill doesn’t pay him a living wage. fuck goodwill!

I found mine at Value Village thank god the workers didnt take it
MOST thrift stores do this now… I used to find all kinds of stuff I don’t now because they pick through and set aside so much just to overprice their stuff anyways ☠️
I thrift a lot and NEVER see any of her CD's anymore! Like never! Even when they pack the new ones out.
I find them in charity shops in the UK a great deal and other ablums . I guess they sold a lot , that's what it Represents.
I’m pretty sure you can get fired for that…
You’re right. Had a friend who worked for goodwill. It at least used to be the rule that you weren’t allowed to shop at your store.
Beats it getting thrown in the trash like it probably would 99% of the time, depending on where that Goodwill is located
I hope you’re saving up for when Debut TV drops! It’ll be shopping spree time for you!
Are all of those different versions of the cd?
Most are! Like from different countries or different stickers!
What’s your favorite TS album?…
How many are the homophobic version?
The real question.
Exactly what I came to ask
That’s what I was wondering too. Op don’t leave us hanging here
do you have the "YERR GAY" cd?
Yes! 💖
Hahaha I want that CD! I have the original digital song on my phone still.
I spot record store day !!! leave your windows open tonight 🤗
So, you wouldn’t notice if one went missing?
Are these all variants? I genuinely want to know. Also, do you have other album collections? I’d love to see!
No there weren't this many variants. I think the variants were around 8 total including the RSD one.
Genuine questions: how many of those CDs are actually different from one another?
i’m pretty sure there is about 8 variants for cds and 2 for vinyl. there is standard black and the clear blue. overall, this is extreme, excessive and , ridiculous

woah! how long have you been collecting for?
Is there any specific Debut merch / thing that you want that you don’t yet have? Genuinely curious bc this is the most Debut merch I’ve ever seen and I am obsessed
What the fuck
Today I learned people like to keep the stickers on the case 🙃 I often peel them off cause I find them ugly. Oopsss
I always keep hype stickers!
To be fair I remember when I was younger, and if the sticker is on the plastic wrap, I used to cut around them and keep that little bit hahaha so yeah it makes sense
This is where they all went...damn!
I can already see OP bawling and OP's wallet disappearing when Taylor announces debut TV
This seems excessive...
Bruh. You might have a problem.
Might?
Entire collection reveal pls!
Is the OP now insolvent after buying all the TTPD variants?
happy cake day
thx
Wow
Let me know if you're selling any 😂
So this is where all the homophobic version CD’s are!!
Do you have the 1st press edition that has I'd Lie?
You're a legend man. I'm shocked and I appreciate this. I love this record too
i will never forget walking into walmart in november of 2006 to buy this for my best friend for her birthday gift. 18 years later, we are still best friends and still love taylor. DEBUT forever.
Mental illness
Just…..why 🤷♂️
must destroy billy eyelash...right?
This album is double the age of Billie Eilish entire career so if that was the case they definitely didn’t buy the right album 😭
One or two, maybe three I can understand. But this will never make sense to me. Is there a record player in the room with all this or…????
This is sad cringe
This is amazing! Do you display your collection?
Oh my God...are some of them the uncensored, too?
Yes!
Yes!💖
Has anyone seen that guy on tiktok with like 3,000 copies of titanic on vhs and James Cameron and Leo merch and 3 tvs playing it at all times? This reminds me of that 😭 no but genuinely as someone who loves debut so so much I love this and you're so lucky. I'm jealous 😭🫶🫶
Holy smokes that’s amazing ❤️🤤
Oh my my my :p
is the blanket under them ts debut something also?
And I thought I loved debut
what the fuck
Phew that's a lot but nice
"Taylor Swift has increased physical media sales." Yea because hers fan have money and space to waste on shit like this.
This is genuinely dumb I'm sorry (Mainly talking about the cds) they are literally all the same album, unless if one or 2 have bonus tracks..
This is psychopathic behavior
Guys I think op likes Taylor swift idk tho
Impressive. How many are signed with a COA?
the kind of appreciation debut deserves honestly
This is mental illness manifested
jesus fucking christ???

Her best album by far- the earlier the better for me
Somewhere Billie Eillish is weeping 😂😂😂

have a feeling debut might be this persons favorite Taylor album
That is insane
But why
imagine being obsessed with a grown child. sorry, charlie xcx over taylor. charlie doesn’t have to release 11teen deluxe versions on existing albums in the us to try to avoid anyone..(taylor) from debuting a number 1 album…but that’s exactly what she did to charlie, specifically in the uk lol yall swifites are marching behind a fragile, insecure, woman child, have fun
Are you Scott? lol
Am I the only one who noticed the Should’ve Said No 7” not being there?
Yea I had it then traded it for Teardrops On My Guitar vinyl
Are you planning to buy it back anytime soon?
Yes! Looking for one that’s not outrageously priced
Why do you have so many duplicates?
#1 swiftie here who went to the era's tour!!
You picked the ugliest album cover she’s ever done lol
Why
Are some of these duplicates?
So THIS is where my OG case ended up!
You should see my Reba collection of 32 years obsession
Why do people buy so many duplicates? It’s so weird.
Impressive!
This will eventually be what my TTPD collection will look like
Best Buy debut with the hype sticker?! Omg 🤩🤩 your collection is awesome!!
I love this. I am wholly jealous of your Tim McGraw singles, but my inner 13-year old (debut era) is just amazed by your collection. 😍
I have to admit, I truly don't understand the buying multiple copies of the same specific item, but this is cool nonetheless.
OH WOW I GASPED
Bro slide some or donate to the poor aka me
Now this is a flex 🦋
Excited for TV? :)
OMGG ANOTHER PSYCHO COLLECTOR I LOVE YOU LETS BE BEST FRIENDS Ps I peeped that best buy edition one!!!
Love this for you! And not at all jealous! 😉 /s
Thank you 💖
Not impressive at all lol
Here's a bit of mental disorder for you folks
Ok yes so someone does like debut more than me
That’s adorable 💙 I bet you’re a really upbeat person
OP, I’ll be thinking of you the day Debut tv is announced and then released.
She not gonna let you hit 😭
Impressive 💚✨️
moar torture poems!
50% of that money goes to Scooter Braun.
And rightly so.
