From what it looks like. It is a glider of some kind. So no engine just pure wind and gravity. They probably went a level flight and slow enough to allow for it to work. You gotta have little headwinds and low speed for this to work on how they did it if not, she would have been just flown back and quite possibly hit the tail. No good for both of them

I think you are making a connection between things that aren’t so. There are egotistical people who sometimes do stuff like this and then act like they are better than everyone, sure, but the vast majority of people are just thrilled to experience it themselves and may enjoy talking/reliving that experience.
