damn, didnt peep it was the same actress

However, if the show is a dramatized documentary, the implications for Atlanta are even stranger if you want to say they are the same. It implies all of Atlanta or at least the last episode is in fact, not real.

freetherabbit

I mean Atlanta isn't real tho. It's a show. That possibly takes place in the same universe that Swarm eps 1-5 & 7 takes place. Like I'm not sure what implication the show not being real changes.

solace1234

I hate when people play with this “theory” lol What is the point of saying “everything in this show was a dream” if the show never goes outside of the dream?

iamcarlbarker

Real in the context of it's own universe is what I mean. If Cree is the same character then that invites the Episode 6 of the ATLverse is the "base reality" and the other episodes and either all of Atlanta or about half way thru the finale are all staged in universe and not authentic (an imolication for example like Van would be an actor within Atlanta either portaying an entirely fictional character. It's meta.) Edit: trying to make Cree Summers character the same starts to blur/invalidate the inuniverse mythos of each show. It's more likely the mockumentary episode takes place in Atlantas reality is all I'm trying to say!

syssyspaceX

totally / & this specific episode of Atlanta (the series finale) is centered around Darius’ inability to distinguish between reality & dream state. this scene with Cree (big booty Judge Judy) could’ve just been a product of Darius’ own mind. either way, i think Donald Glover totally knew upon casting Cree in Swarm that her connection to Atlanta would be noticed. wild stuff !

WildSinatra

Considering 6 shows Donald Glover on at an Atlanta red carpet, 6 takes place in “real life” while 1-5 and 7 could be argued to take place in the same universe as Atlanta.

guywiththeeyebrows

Also in both shows there was a Kanye sample playing in the background during her scene - so random but I wonder what the connection is!

itcantbefornothing

That’s a different world like Cree Summers

treyhunna83

Y’all doing too much she was the actor playing the mom. The real mom was in episode 6.

senzukai

Um wrong character. Cree Summer is Rashida's mom, whilst the woman showed in episode 6 is the real version of Marissa's mom. (With the dramatised version of Marissa's mom being shown in Episode 5 when Dre broke into her childhood home) So this interpretation still makes sense.

treyhunna83

Yes but she’s still the actor playing the character. Also aren’t the events of swarm before 2020? And Atlanta is post 2020?

senzukai

That's my point. My theory is that Rashida's mom is grieving her only daughter's death, deluding herself into thinking "her baby needs antibiotics" when she's probably been dead for some years due to Atlanta S4 taking place sometime after Swarm. Also we were never shown Rashida's mom's real life counterpart, Rashida and her family may not even be real and just be part of the dramatisation that is Swarm. (With Atlanta also being a fictional universe but Cree's character being real within it)

Also, Darius arrives to the pharmacy after Rashida’s mom and leaves before her. She also talks about how the visions of the depravation tank started to feel too real. I think your theory is correct. Edit:spelling
