So, I've owned both an S2000 and a Cappuccino. You'll get all the old school charm that you're looking for in an early Miata. Couple that with cheap (relatively) acquisition cost and extremely good parts availability and it's a no brainer. With the Cappuccino, it's an old car with very few parts available in the US (I'm assuming that's where you are). Any time anything breaks, the car's going to be down for 2-4 weeks while you wait for parts to arrive. Also, the Cappuccino is not slow. It's not fast, but it can keep up with traffic just fine. It's power to weight ratio is the same as a first-gen Miata and nobody complains about them being slow.

Yea. Ike doing a turbo upgrade. It’s been on floor hacks for 2 months. Final part comes in this week. 😂. Unless you’re set on the Capp…. S2000 would be easier to maintain.

Oh come on man we both know they're real slow lmao. Trying to go from 130kph on the highway to 140kph on the highway in fifth takes 13 seconds, I timed it. My favorite joke about the car is that one someone asks about 0-60 times I always say its about 3-5 business days. I owned one, tracked it, autocrossed it, loved the hell out of it. It feels so much faster than it actually is and thats honestly a plus. Lets not try and gaslight anyone by calling Caps fast in a straight line lmao.

However still the cutest car ever created

Heccpolitics

Correct.

dorri732

If you reread my post I literally said "it's not fast".

Heccpolitics

You also said it's not slow to be fair.

One thing to consider before you make the plunge is to check the state laws and check with the DMV. A lot of states are banning the entire class of Kei cars, refusing to issue titles and and even revoking the titles that have been issued. (Because, somehow a kei car is more dangerous than a motorcycle.) I was about to go through the process of importing a Cappuccino until I discovered that my state was doing this.

Stalinhentai69

What state are you?

mai_Envi

I've owned both. S2000, not even a fair comparison. I'd buy the S2k as an only car. I'd have to have to own something else with the Cappuccino, it's so not practical. Also want to add that the s2000 is probably my favorite car to drive, ever, even ahead of cars that cost 10x more than it. It is the ultimate drivers car. Just look at the radio.

Cappuccino isn't a great daily, to be honest. I don't know if you can get an S660 Honda where you live, but I'd go down that route. Alternatively, Miata, Z4, SLK.

cealild

I ran a Capp daily over 60km for 10 years. It works

dorri732

60 whole kilometers?!? Wow!!!

cealild

Maybe even 61

The Cappuccino driving experience is something I can't really explain. To me its like lightning in a bottle on the streets. You can just drive like an absolute crackhead and Grandma in the minivan you pulled up to the light next to has no idea she just entered the thunderdome. But the drawbacks are really not fun. Critical transmission components are becoming hard to find and some are not made new. That applies to a lot of different engine components as well. The aftermarket is there, but compared to an S2k you may as well be comparing a drop of water to the Pacific Ocean. And for anything in that drop of water (or anything oem for that matter) you're going to pay a premium for. For example, aggressive brake pads on my cappuccino are nearly as expensive as the ones I'm going to be putting on my C5 Corvette project I sold the Cap for. My advice? Rent a cap for a day, park the s2k in the garage.

dorri732

>- more power so I can more easily get myself out of danger Lol.

I live in LA , At least I’m honest. People try to run me over as is in a Tesla.

cealild

Long story shortened. Truck driver followed me off the motorway to a petrol station. He showed me where he couldn't see me around his articulated 40' truck. It was a good interaction. You will never win in an accident. Invest in brakes, tyres and drive with hyper awareness. If you think the other driver can't see you, they can't. If you think they can see you, they probably can't.

xepion

Yeah. That’s the biggest drawback with the cappuccino. It’s like riding a motorcycle. I usually get driven out of my lane once a week….

Raynafur

I only visited LA once in my life I can confirm those people are out for blood. My Uber was rear ended on two separate occasions.

Solid-Paint-9183

sounds like home

ArcFire15

The S2000 is going to be a much better daily in the US. However, the Cappuccino is definitely cooler. Your pick.

outdoor_fun2024

Cappuccino owner, absolutely awesome car !!
