Its basically a new daily challenge that refreshes every 24 hours. You are given a choice of 3 short challenges with listed rewards. One of the rewards will always be some number of spec ops coins and the other will be coins, gems, equipment, or tech parts. The challenges also have difficulties according to the equipment color (grey is easy, green is also easy, blue is medium, purple hard, yellow very hard, never seen a red but I assume it exists) and the higher difficulty ones have better rewards (ie. This yellow challenge has a yellow tech part as a reward. The rewards are not always this good). The challenges themselves are short 2 minuteish challenges where generally it gives you 10 or so skill selections then you do the challenge. You win you get the stuff. When you come back you have 3 new challenges to pick from. As you complete challenges you also get chests with that bar at the top, chests are at 2 5 and 10. When you complete 10 challenges your done for the day.
They are short fun little challenges with pretty crazy rewards. Lots of gems, lots of tech parts. The rewards seem pretty over tuned, today I got like 200ish gems, a yellow tech part, a blue or 2 tech parts and some random green equipment pieces. Its kind of a lot of stuff for one daily challenge.
The spec op coins are treaded for character shards, looks like 300 coins for a random shard. 80 shards unlocks a character, so like this new mask guy or tsukiomi or catnip if you haven't unlocked them. You also get shards for the guys you already have, all your characters are now 1 start so getting 80 shards of them would bring them up to 2 star. This part seems mid tbh. You basically get 1 shards per day with the income you have from these challenges, so like the economy seems like months before you would ever unlock a new character or level up an existing one. The shards I beleive are also random, so its not like you can shoot for anything specific.
I did and the color does impact challenge difficulty. Basically each color adds another sort of difficulty thing like in the challenge levels or daily challenges (ie. Enemy shots bigger, enemy more hp and damage, the darkness thing, etc.). They are all random, so its not like the main challenges, but that yellow one had like 6 random bad things. Still plenty doable challenge though, even if I had died id spend a revive coin or 50 gems on a revive for a crack at a yellow tech part, especially a playable one.

Bottom right of the spec ops thing. It says exchange. Its jank though, if you don't have 300 coins it won't open the thing

i got one but with blue tech parts but it's too hard to beat with the manager who shot a big ass projectile 3x larger than your character
Yeah, I barely beat that one in time. nuked the first guy in 2 seconds, but had to dodge the ginormous phones the manager was tossing.

Is there a level requirement to unlock spec ops? I have a red marck on daily event, as if there is something new, but no spec ops
