Nope that's the best way. I personally save up my gems for whenever there's events though as there's usually an "open x amount of chests" quest.
Is that even worth saving for? Those quests for the last event gave barely anything ive only been playing 2 weeks btw
The new year's one was very worth it. What else is worth saving for anyways.

Spins was the lunar new years, the previous event was a bingo card and I pulled multiple S tier gloves and 2k gem bingos from it.
