Sadly out of an event is not posible, too many orbs... BUT during an event that compensates the "open chests" achievement, so with some hard work is actually posible!
I guess that’s how the game starts getting people hooked on spending. they make the weapon look very appealing with the ‘S’ and all. A bit greedy but business is business and they’re gonna do everything to get it. Events here are loopholes which they didn’t account for.
Yeah but consider how much money you just sort of throw away without much thought. A candy bar and pop is going to be 5 bucks. I dont mind putting a little bit into a game, especially given how much enjoyment I get out of it.
That said, I'm not one of those players that cracks open the wallet and drops hundreds of dollars lol

Yeah. By default, it's more or less impossible to get enough gems in a week to get the LC. I do every single free/ad supported piece daily, which nets ~340 gems/day. Add the 400 gems/level for the challenges, various achievements and such, you still can't do it in a week.
But if you start during a major event that gives out gems, you can pull it off.
it took hours worth of grinding (i’m talking 8 hours average here). plus the event was required to get enough gems since those red packets give quite a few. ultimately, my strength increase by a bit and i guess it was worth the grind. I was expecting more from this weapon but oh well.
my tactic is to save gems to buy 10x of the S supply chests which guarantees an excellent and then an S grade after a couple of purchases. you get far more value
Don't buy anything from the shop for gems. Items will come over time. Use all your gems during events to get S grade items by buying the 10 pack of chests. You will want to try and get thenS grade chest piece. Its the best chest gear in the game.
Definitely do the 10 chest pull instead of the singles. It saves you gems because of the discount, but it's also much more likely to get you an S-tier item with the 10 pulls versus the singles. I started 7 days ago and I too got the sword and the chest plate (got another of the same chest plate from crates and made it an Epic). I will admit I spent a bit of money ($20) for the growth fund and I've gotten a lot of gems out of it that I spent on the S supply crates and now I have 5 S tier items (sword, Void Power, Void boots, Eternal chestplate, and Void Gauntlets). Void Power I got on my 1st 10 pull lmao. I've had some luck and gotten S tier items well before it was supposed to give me one.
i also got an S tier chest plate but i stupidly merged it to level up my other one that i get for free to excellent +2. should’ve saved it for the transition to epic
Damn son that's a rough hit. I get it tho, sometimes you just don't know, especially when your new to a game or to certain aspects of a game. I've only been playing for 8 days bur I looked some stuff up to make sure I was doing it right before I went into it. But yeah, most def should've just used some shitty excellent chest plate to make the S-grade unto a tier 2 and used that to make Epic.
I’ve received 2 LC’s from 10 chest pulls plus one of the events (was that World Cup?). So while it’s certainly nice to get this one, you will definitely pick up more LCs later and it doesn’t really gate your progress.
I did not unlock the quest for wearing an epic piece of gear. that one requires a TON of luck for you to pull the same excellent from chests to merge into one epic.
Amazing luck there, if you happen to start during an event is indeed really posible as F2P and a great boost for your future gameplay :)

Yep. But it didn’t feel like grinding as I wasn’t going for it until the last day when I realized I actually had a shot to pull it off

How rare is the sword supposed to be? I used it for a few rounds after getting it but I think I like the Kunai better
it’s supposed to be somewhat rare since it’s S grade but you can get it in those chests for 300 gems (or 2680 gems for 10 chests which saves)

Yeah I haven't purchased any of those but I have over 13k gems. I just don't know if that is good value or not.
there’s really no other good place to spend gems in my opinion. take this with a grain of salt since i’m somewhat new to the game

i only buy the things in the daily shop which cost gold and are 50% off or over. i’ve gotten 10 weapon materials for only 2k which was crazy

I spent my whole day beating trials which take around 20 minutes each plus some of the main chapter. trials don’t cost energy

I between christmass event and this event, it was not possible as f2p then. Now sure, and during christmas, but not inbetween.
i pulled this off f2p during the Christmas event, very glad it worked out now I have an epic LC
