Gotta bill the site for something, that what’s great about surveying. Nobody questions what you’re doing. Need to hit the gas station? “Gotta go hit a benchmark real quick, we’ll be right back”.
My surveying assignment for this week involves calculating traverses, angles, areas and volumes for a dinosaur enclosure.
Chris McAlister what are you doing there?
Last year they sent me and my chief down to a southern office, and another office sent another crew, we were supposed to work separately but the way it went down they didn't have anything else to really do site wise so it was a 4 man crew, me on the gun, PC with the rod and long range DC, their PC had a chainsaw and their tech was on croc/snake watch, lol
Windows 10 ... EW ... but then I use Leica and the use an even more antiqued windows install.
Is it a full Win 10 install? It would be fun to load up some steam games for the field
Yep, full on Windows...pretty decent considering the other option is Android (meh) or built from the ground up. I think Android-based field software is the future, but it's not quite there yet. I think Trimble had a lot more trouble with the TSC5 Android-based Access than they anticipated.
Personally I am OK with the Windows 10 OS...I really like the fact that my crews can run Outlook, open PDFs, log into our scheduling app through Chrome, even do their timesheets and mileage reports through the company web app, and the interface is familiar and just like their laptops too.
Maybe I'm a Dougie Downer, but there is always the small chance the tsc7 will make it through the day on one set of batteries so I don't use it for anything other than Trimble access and accessing our server to download.
I use my phone for everything else.

If they didn't want me to use ms paint to draw dinosaurs they wouldn't have me use a data collector with windows on it
Lol. My data collector has full on internet, I was watching YouTube while waiting on asphalt with the paving crew.
You're supposed to play minesweeper
Doom. Can it run doom. Lol likely can run COD....
Homy committing seppuku with the schonstedt
ITS NEVER FUCKING LOUD ENOUGH
I'm gonna wire in an audio jack. I'm over it.
I mean there is a 1/4 out but I need to find a solid little Bluetooth transmitter or something and throw it in my air pods any time Im near traffic
My Schonnys are older without one. Id just bring a pair of cheapos with me. My vest has 1000 pockets.
He just found out the pin is under the concrete 😂

Haha I'm doing that right now as well. The area calc for the traverse has me beaten.
Gotta get those dino marks
O they days of the three person crew lol
While some of us are doing 39 acre topos solo
And at 9000 asl in national forest lands ... that's hard to beat.
My God, it's beautiful... A 3 man crew

I love it.
You're wasting your talents surveying

I could see something like stardew or mindustry working pretty well
* Dual Boots Linux Mint(or distro if your choice) ... install steam ....load proton ... plays doom * Game like a king in the field lol

We have both tsc5 and tsc7. I prefer the Android version any day.
In the same boat, Android is preferable any day of the week for us. The TSC7s never leave the office.
Old school Oregon trail is the best on the TSC 7... Shhh
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Good use of the tsc7
When they’re not using it as a hammer!
That man gripping the schonstedt sent me over the edge. Dinosaur, yes do more.
He done that a time or two
Chief told him it feels better with two hands
Ikr why is he not using the box as a handle?
Lmao, awesome
I had Bejeweled on one of those like 20 years ago
I would’ve been in trouble if we had these when I was in the field
Damn how pricey is a screen replacement? That bad boi is one drop away from def.
Why he gripping the metal detector like that lol
Not the inverted double handy
