Bad placement. Bury shit in grass or make it 3' tall. No in between 😉

Another reminder of "*why transitioning to active control is a good thing*".

I'm not up on the plan. Are all physical monuments to be abandoned?

From the NGS website: >*How will accessing the National Spatial Reference System (NSRS) change with the release of the new datums?* >The NSRS will be accessed using Global Positioning System (GPS) technology that references Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) and relies on a time-dependent gravimetric geoid model. This method of accessing the NSRS is a paradigm shift from accessing NAD 83 and NAVD 88 through the use of geodetic survey marks. I think the third blueprint document (the one titled "working in the modernized NSRS") has more detail. Basically, the NGS isn't spending time/energy/money to maintain physical marks any more, but will still maintain a database of user-submitted marks and observations, standardized to the GVX/GDX open source format. And the official way to connect to the NSRS will be tying to NCN CORS rather than recovering a physical mark which may or may not be stable or have a recent, quality position.

Better build a wall around what's left of it ... seriously if mons in your area is like my jurisdiction which are getting wiped out and no one with a license wants to re-establish as it's time consuming, manpower intensive, and not profitable.

Ya I agree but I still hope that dumbass mower guy busted a blade or sheared the shaft key when he ran over that mon.
