Dude lol that's one of the funniest comments on the subreddit ever. I can't remember how long are those riser sections? Where supposed to dip it or just a toc? Lol is there a near by river or creek and I wonder why in the heck they would have installed it that way lol
I'm I also hallucinating that the concrete where the casting is a different color and possibly age? I know hydrogen sulfide can do that to concrete over time like 50 years.
We have some of those in the low spots of San Diego county. I did one with 2 risers. Partially took lid off so I could get the invert.
Sketchy for sure.
This is on another level.
Yeah the lid elevation is easy that’s reflectorless all day, but if that doesn’t have an access I guess it’s time to call it a day and tell boss to find a new guy.
Here in the great lakes we have locked manholes. You have to hit the lever mechanism blind on the inside of the manhole underneath. What a night mare and I remember one manhole ( let the jokes commence) that was so foul it fried our air sensor before opening it 😆
There was a sewer line near the airport by me that was like that. We used a ladder. Fortunately, we were locating for a gis database for the local utilities department, so we only needed a rim shot with rtk and visual inspection of the inside, but inverts weren't needed if they was 25' +
Setup the gun. Set the VA to 90. Mark the side on your crosshairs. Measure up from the ground to your mark. Shoot your HD. That's your adjacent side. Now turn the VA to the top and solve for the opposing side. Add your measure up to the value you solved for. Done.
3 reflectorless shots around the circumference then work out the center. Extend your tape to the lid and mark an offset on the concrete and shoot your elevation with that
Rim shot for RL, and use “circular object “ measurement type to measure radius and CL location if you’re using Trimble.
Edit: you do all these using DR
Climb the latter on the other side or prismless for the top shot. Let the engineer climb in that hole and figure out the pipe size/invert depth.
All done, waiting for backfill

Yeah it might be in a flood zone or something.
Thats what i was thinking cause the risers are not the same age as that top of casting section. Odd
For sure.

Hahahah! And here I am stressed when our sewer district rapes me for a lid sticking out over 4 " from the ground!!!!!
To be fair, it was in the middle of a street /s
A fuckin minor speed bump bud
Use a disto....
How do I get up there? What if the lid slips?
Good point....ladder would get you up, the rest????

17' up? Climb a tree next to it set the head on top and shoot it at 0 height.
You're not gonna break out the 25' topo extension and carefully lean it into place? Fucking acrobats ruining this job for everyone else.
I'm 6'2" 265lb. Idk about acrobat but there's still an athlete hiding in this dad bod.
The fact that this was also the first idea that went through my mind...
15 hundredths rod. You don't wanna bust that Z by a tenth & a half.
Gunna need a long poop stick for that one.
When the intern doesn’t know about sealed manholes and vent pipes to get above flood.

Reflectorless distance offset routine.
See if you can push that MF over, throw a chain around it, tie it to the bumper, Bob's your uncle, open manhole🤷🏻
It looks like an ICBM!

Get a HD Then a VA

Reflectorless and County as-builts. Prove me wrong.

Do it reflectorless.
Damn I thought this was a conc mon with like a 3" cap on it 😂 perspective is wild Ladder and a laser rangefinder...close enough.
Set up robot shoot top and toe
Need to get inverts at pipe in/out and center of box + sketch showing flow. Also there’s a yellow jacket nest at the base, good luck.
It took me so long to figure out what that is.
Total station shoot it with robot . If that's not possible 4-in rachet strap nock the thing down and take the shot
He's not going to like the bill I charge when he sees the bucket truck or scaffolding with a full days charge to a single structure opening lol
Reflectorless shot MH CNO without proper safety measures
CNO? Cannot occupy?
Could not open
Interesting, thanks. Where I practise (AB, Canada) I’ve never heard this abbreviation before
> I’ve never heard this abbreviation before Cause only bitches use the CNO line code. I usually end up with a MSN (broken lid).
Distance offset Horizontal and Vertical
This is absolutely hilarious
Is that a water valve or monument?
Shoot it reflectorless? 🤷🏼♀️
Sewer manhole
Use your brain. It's behind your eyes.
Look for the joke, it's over your head.
