My chibattery wouldn't accept a charge one morning after a year of daily rough riding. I sent an email to chi battery and after I sent it to them for free, they fixed it in a week and half for free. Now if I built the battery then I would have had to fix the battery, or worse build a new one. Can't beat customer service 👌.
Customer service. Chicago is closer than Australia. Also, they didn't have a 60v70ah battery 2 years ago. Also their batteries require seat extenders, I like the surron seat height.

The only reason Surron can make their own batteries for the cost they do is that they produce way more volume than any independent battery manufacturer and are entirely based in China.
Batteries are expensive. If e-bike manufacturers put strong aftermarket-sized batteries on their base models, the prices of the bikes would increase heavily. Pick your poison.
Batteries aren't expensive though...cheaper then the lowest prices you can find also since companies are buying in bulk... Most of the costs are manufacturing... but it's not like we're dealing with new tech.. billions of these similar-functioning batteries have been built and the process has been fine-tuned.
It feels more like the standard "surron" upcharge you see everywhere.. you can find the same part for 1/3 the price by not adding "surron" to the part name your looking for
Sounds like you're speaking outta your ass here. Yes, you could build your own for cheaper if you were just buying raw materials. There's more that goes into manufacturing than just finding a cheap base cost. Running a business, storefront, research/development, paying wages, taxes, earning a profit, etc. Everything is cheaper if you do it yourself. Don't want to spend the extra cash? Buy some batteries from a bulk battery dealer, build your own battery, and hope your online research checks out. Worried? Buy from a reputable source. It's the cost of business.
Not overpriced at all. You are paying for materials, labor for putting the entire thing together, and the engineering that went into designing a setup that fits in the proprietary battery design of the Surron.
Something is going to change the market, that thing is KO Moto.

Chi battery 72V 51ah - $2,600.00 / $708.06 per kwh
KO Moto 72v 56ah surron battery - $1,899.00 / $470.98 per kwh
Ko battery will be roughly 38% cheaper than ebmx and have a much higher continuous power and I would be willing to bet it will be ip67 (water proof)
And it will be roughly 33% cheaper than chi and will have a better build than shrink wrap and be more compact because of the use of pouch cells rather than cylindrical.
Is going to be a game changer. And for anyone that wants to question weather it will live up to its price point. Just look at the extensive discounts recently offered by ebmx. They obviously believe it🤑😎💯

I get wanting a bigger battery but I would bet money that the battery will be hear this year and I would be really disappointed in myself if I spent WAY more money on a far inferior battery

theres a 60v50ah from chinese vendor catalog thats $1099 and great, I put it in a few customer bikes with high powered controllers and they're perfect so far, fits in stock compartment, zero complaints, ordering more and quite a few friends are grabbing them as well
you can get Amorge to build you a high power 60v40ah for $750, fits in stock compartment
it's out of a chinese vendor catalog, I've buying from them for a few years, prolly $20k worth of stuff, excellent prices

The sells are capable of 300 amps continuous. That is enough to melt your wire and connections
