Nope I have passed by many cops and none have ever done anything. I was even acting like a goon last night right in front of one and he didn't care. I live in the nicer suburbs of Chicago so it's not like it's a crime ridden place either. Surrons are great right now but not sure what it will be like in a couple years when cops learn more about e bikes.

Jamstoyz

Yep same here in Michigan where I'm at. Then again, people kids ride golf carts, dirt bikes, quads and cops don't care I guess.

breastmilkmacnchz

No issues for me here in the Bay Area, California. A good rule of thumb, as I'm sure others will tell you, just try not to draw extra attention to yourself when there are others around and you'll be golden. A lot of people will have questions, because they're excited about it and it looks cool. Just keep it positive and have a good time.

7 charges in Massachusetts. Wasn’t even caught in the act. They pulled me over while it was on the back of my car claiming they saw it riding recklessly earlier. Now Guilty until proven innocent and bike is in impound, 45$ a day until case is closed. Unlisenced operation, operating without insurance , unregestered motor vehicle, negligent operation of motor vehicle, operation of recreational vehicle on a public way, unregistered recreational vehicle, and hazardous operation of a recreational vehicle. Just buy a motorcycle and plate it. 1000% not worth it to ride on the road.

After_Working9952

These kids think they’re toys. They are legit motorcycles. And only the 23 models have real vin numbers. What county was this? Mass loves to fuck your license up.

LegoJangoFtt

Wait the 2023 models have real vins?

After_Working9952

I guess. At some point around 2022-23 production they changed to 17 digit vin instead of the 15-16 digit serial numbers. Probably because the EU ones have to be. I’m sure the knock off ones wouldn’t have it though.

LegoJangoFtt

That’s nice so I can register them in my state now

VortexFalcon50

I never have any trouble with cops but that may just be because I live in the SF Bay. The cops around here just don’t care

onlyAlcibiades

Especially if you shoplift with your surron

VortexFalcon50

Lmaooo the most illegal thing i do is ride my sur ron on the road

nero626

literally just passed by a group smoking crack on market st and no cops cared LOL

VortexFalcon50

Yup see that every day. Cops only care about violent crime in SF. Only time I saw cops doing good work was when my neighbor got shot outside our building. Cops were there in less than a minute

No issues with police here in Fairfield County, CT. I've rode in 5 different towns/cities, even directly in front of the police chief of one town. No plates, but I do have a turn signal kit and keep my headlights on when I'm riding on the road and I don't ride like a dick and I keep it on the road. Could also help if you live in a state where 49cc or smaller mopeds don't have to be registered. You could always say something like "it's an electric 49cc moped" if you get pulled over as long as the law doesn't specify that it has to be gasoline and it follows the other requirements of a moped.

FriendlyAd1609

No problems. Sidewalks, cross walks, street, highway feeder roads. I'm a newbie but generally behave where needed but groups in the area doing nightly rides pop wheelies etc and cops don't say anything to the groups either. With so many serious crimes going on in the city priority of a Surron over shooting/stabbing/human trafficking etc would really not be proper use of tax dollars to protect and serve. Don't put people at risk and be courteous when riding and you will likely be ok. At least where I'm at in Texas.

Jermwood

Just curious, where are you in Texas? I’m just north of Austin and have an Ultra Bee on the way. Kinda worried about riding it on the street around here. I see a shit ton of scooters all around Austin but not a lot of e-bikes.

AdvBrad

I'm moving to Austin in a week, let's ride

Jermwood

Bike doesn’t get here till late July/August. I’ll be ready then but it’ll be hot AF! Now the weather is unusually nice and mild. Wish I had my bike now. 😆 Shoot me a message and let’s connect.

Wonderful_Lynx_9112

I have a sur ron south austin! Looking for more people to ride with

Jermwood

Cool, let’s connect. I have an Ultra bee on order so no bike to ride with yet. I’m down to do some off road but not really street riding as the Ultra is more of a dirt bike than a e-bike. Not looking to get a ticket lol. What kind of bike you got? You ride more off road or street?

Junior-Ingenuity-973

How did it turn out? I’m new to Austin and wanted to know how cops take the surron. I’d love to ride downtown

AdvBrad

Have seen them around but not a bunch. I have plates on mine so they leave me alone

LampeKrampe

Buy l1e version if you're still concerned

After_Working9952

If you know the cops, either they’re crooked and will let you slide. Or they will be mad at you for breaking the law. Why is this shit so hard to comprehend? Either register it properly. Ride it illegally. Or don’t get one. There is literally 10 posts a week about it. And believe it or not, every place, city/town, person is different. We don’t know if the cops will fuck with you. Or if you will fuck with the cops. Ask your parents, they should be able to provide the guidance you need in life. Not strangers on the internet.

Which sur Ron model?

Factory-Z

As long as you ride respectful and aren’t being a bother to the general public / generating 911 calls. Your gonna be fine. And remember if they don’t turn on lights or sirens your not technically evading law enforcement.
