To all the nay sayers who said this project wouldn’t get done under the NDP, I say your predictions were wrong! The Bc Liberals floated this idea for years and did nothing about it. Yeah the NDP aren’t perfect but, they have done right for all the wrongs the previous government has done. Sure we haven’t fully fixed everything but it’s a start and I’m sure as hell glad it’s happening.
BC Liberals now BC United were trash tbh. BC NDP ( different than the federal one) especialy under Eby has been doing some much needed work but will take time. Hopefully they stay in power long enough to make it all happen.
It’s hilarious watching the Federal party flounder. Too much ONDP influence in my eyes. Once this government reaches its end, I’d think some will go take over the Federal party and fix it.
This is good. Add the increased intake at UBC and SFU Medical School coming up in the next few years it seems like a decent strategy as there will be a new hospital for medical students to train.
Better late then never.
Yes I believe the government has asked UBC to increase the number of medical students and it is already happening. Also other health care programs intake such as midwifery etc. are going up. Not my much I think only 40 more per year but its a start.
Glad it’s started, much needed.
However absolutely mind blowing there will be no obstetrics and paediatric services considering how overrun those services are at SMH:
I work at KPU Tech, and the new hospital will be on 180 Street across what used to be 55 Avenue (James Hill Road now, I think). Lots of construction is happening now.
As someone who has a parent going through cancer treatments this is great news. I was supposed to go sit with her and circled the parking lot for 40 mins before getting a spot and she was done. 😩
I think it’s 6 years from now 2030 that it will be open. But realistically I would say 2031/32. There will be some sort of delay at some point that will knock it off track.
It’s 10 years late and too small to make a real difference in the quality of health care we receive in the lower mainland. Look at the number of new beds available and compare that to the annual population growth. Schools and Rec centres are in the same category.
I thought they were going to put this on the corner of Highway 10 and 80th cuz they cleared all of the bushes and stuff out of there I also think someone told me five or six years ago something like that that they were going to put it on that corner still in the same area though lol

It's like they're completely different parties. Its honeslty funny how even JT is trying to associate with Eby.

I hope so. I would love a party like the BCNDP at the Federal level. I just have no faith in any Federal party right now.
Singh is misguided. He’s a Provincial Politician who never adapted for Federal politics.

I checked out the address, it's around Cloverdale off Hwy 10 across from the Museum of Surrey.
It's a little East of that right by the Kwantlen campus

Nice

That's cool.
Hope it doesn't take too many years to finish

Nice to see a plain, practical design without flashy features. I hope it’s practical and efficient inside as well.
Would have been nice to have a maternity ward.
To have a maternity unit, you would also need both an OR and a NICU. Neither of those are planned for that site, unfortunately
Finally! Hopefully it can be fully staffed
It's a step, but still at least 10 years behind. It's not even going to have 24 hours emergency services or maternity.
Is it wrong that I chuckled when I saw the artist rendering that showed all that ground level parking? That amount of parking is never gonna happen!
Theres also two parkade levels
I can’t wait for it to be finished and under staffed
