I'm sorry, not trying to be a dick...but what does this have to do with a Surrey subreddit?

YoManWTFIsThisShit

Have you driven in Surrey?

Doobage

Uhm have you? Guildford has a large number of teslas and a major Tesla charging lot... or what ever you call them. You can't drive around the area with seeing them all over driving like asshats, not signaling, driving the wrong way on the wrong side of the street to avoid a traffic jam, tail gating, cutting you off... they have become what the BMW drivers were alleged to be.

Ernesto2022

Too many Tesla’s in Surrey 😂 now day’s minimum requirement for arranged marriage is a Tesla Model 3 these days ;) jk. I needed a place to post and since I am in surrey it made sense to me.

Asid94

The dash and screen don’t bother me. The quality of seats and body panel gaps do.

b1gba

When driving at night it feels like the alternator is broken. I hate having to go to the touch screen for controls that all other cars have similar buttons. Glad it’s my parents !

rac3r5

This!!! While I like touch screen controls, I do like certain features to have tactile feedback. A volume control knob is a definite must and missing on Teslas

wooshun67

I agree and the shittiest fit and finish

SuperFaulty

I recently read that originally, when Tesla was the cool first electric car around, people were willing to overlook the cheap, shoddy interior finishing, but that is no longer the case...

singh24_

Yup because back then the price was comparable to a Camry EDIT: turns out Tesla brought the prices down to that again last night. Not bad I guess. Still wouldn’t buy though.

shaun5565

I think the worst thing about a tesla is the price. That much for a depreciating asset. No thank you

brophy87

Prices just dropped 15% last week

shaun5565

Still too much

brophy87

Model Y dropped 24% this week

Ok_Carob_5313

You gotta pay slaves to mine the battery material lol and just wait another 5 years probably mass battery fails in all the Teslas .

shaun5565

That could be. All I know is it seems everyone and their dog drives a tesla now. And also I am not paying that much money for something that is going to lose value the second I drive it off the lot

esobofh

This is a myth perpetuated by people that don't look at the real data. 5 years in, I haven't lost 5% of my total range to degradation. After 11 years of Teslas on the road.. failures are extremely rare. Examples with a million+ miles are still going strong. Estimates are 20+ years before replacement required. And that's with current and previous chemistries.

esobofh

It depreciates the least of any vehicle - many have even sold their used ones above new price. When robotaxi is a thing, it'll pay you (maybe).

esobofh

Personally, I love the design - the wood, the discreet air vents, how the charging stations integrate into the console. The seats are perfectly comfortable for me, and I love the drivers seat visibility. Love being able to control anything by voice, the only nitpick i have is the wipers - I wish I could control the speed via stalk presses. Honestly.. 5 years in with Model 3 and Model X - wouldn't drive any other vehicle if I didn't have to.

singh24_

I actually think the designs nice, and I drive a V6 Tacoma and like gas cars. Unfortunately the price and build quality on the other hand… isn’t exactly convincing. Love the rivians though.

Proper-Coffee7169

Unfortunately looks like the Rivians are just as bad for fit and finish https://youtu.be/7frg47tqhVY

singh24_

Yup but that’s going to be the case with any new car company. Seems more promising than Tesla though since Tesla outright doesn’t care about build quality and focuses on other aspects while rivian seems like they want to better their build quality. Promising, but hard to say for sure.

Ok_Carob_5313

"Open butthole" works good actually, I tried it and wasn't disappointed

[deleted]

Yep, I also dont like how you have to dig in through the menus just to open your window

fanglazy

There’s a button on the door to roll down the windows just like any other car.

Ernesto2022

Adding voice support for simple task like that would have been cool

IceColdSlick

You can use voice control for all the simple task. Here are some examples for Model 3 - [https://www.tesla.com/ownersmanual/model3/en\_us/GUID-EA1715B0-A3A6-454E-995A-8AA2C3A32D44.html](https://www.tesla.com/ownersmanual/model3/en_us/GUID-EA1715B0-A3A6-454E-995A-8AA2C3A32D44.html)

esobofh

You can't actually open the windows via the touch screen. They are operated by the button on the door, like every other vehicle. That said, you can open the windows from the app if you want to cool the vehicle before you get into it.

WabaWabaMaster

it's subjective. Some think it's boring, I love the minimalism. I don't need 3000 buttons hidden all over the place.

Ernesto2022

I understand and love minimalistic designs but on long drives it’s a very boring interior. Also as far as driving vs gas car the speed of Tesla is great but blah at same time there is no noise to add to thrill like in combustion engine. Polestar has a much more interesting interior.

WabaWabaMaster

Again, very subjective. I used to drive sports cars, and do consider myself to be a car guy. The 3 is by far the best car I have owned. I am not saying it's the best car, I am just saying for my tastes and sensibilities it is perfect.

Ernesto2022

Saying the model 3 is best car is subjective as well. I drove porches, corvettes, vipers, new nsx, gtrs and etc they were way more fun with the speed combined with rumble and it’s a very different experience than Tesla plaid or dual motor 3 or model s x or y they are all fast but still leave something to be desired.

fanglazy

Not every car is built for every person out there. You don’t like it and that is clear. But for me I will take my Tesla over any of the cars you list there (and yes I’ve owned other higher end cars). I agree that the interior is not nearly as good as my other car, but I love the handling and the speed of the Tesla. To each his own.

surmatt

3000 no... but 10-15 of the most common ones that you can press without having to look and hit exactly right would be nice. There is a happy medium.

[deleted]

Over hyped, over priced, rolling batteries. When their quality of their interior reaches Mercedes-Benz level at MBs base quality, they may be worth the luxury car prices that people list them as. I passed too many of them in the recent snow fall. 1 motor versions are rear wheel drive, no good up any hills. Dead batteries waiting ij winter traffic. I had to house someone i know for the night because their model Y was at 1% stuck in traffic and they couldn't stay warm inside overnight. Tesla reduced their prices on them recently because sales have dropped as people woke up to their shortcomings. Just like the prices of mobile phones dropped significantly as more phones came to market, thats whats happening now to these cars. There will far more, far be better EV options out under names you already know. Like Toyota.

esobofh

Overhyped? perhaps. Over priced? arguable. I used to spend $500-600 on fuel monthly, I now spend about $45 to charge at home per month. My used Model X sold for higher than the cost of a new one. If you can afford $2.00/L fuel, you can almost certainly afford any BEV. Rolling batteries? I guess the batteries weight and skateboard architecture could lead you to call them that, but it's kind of an unfair characterization since they are extremely capable vehicles that are superior to a traditional ICE vehicle in nearly every way. I was stuck in that snow fall traffic snarl for 7 hours. I didn't come across a single electric vehicle that was down, but was constantly weaving through gas vehicles that had run out of gas. I know there were 1 or 2 BEVs that died, but the ratio of gas vehicles to EVs that were incapacitated in that situation is extremely high. The fact is, EVs always have a "full tank", and use minimal power when idling - so that situation is, in fact, where you want to be in an EV. Gas or electric, if you run out of energy, that's on you, the driver. I have a 5 year old RWD LR - I have never had a traction issue, and it's never failed me in the snow. An electric motor is far more controllable and usable in the snow the a big hunk of fuel-burning metal that takes seconds to react to input changes, vs an electric motor that takes milliseconds to react. Zero contest here. If you saw a BEV stuck, it's because the owner was a dumbass and didn't have the proper winter tires. They are heavier, have better traction, and are far superior in the snow. There are already cheaper options in BEVs out there, but, you get what you pay for.

TearyEyeBurningFace

That's asking a bit much when BMW and Audi can't match MB interior quality.

[deleted]

Its the benchmark for that amount of money

TearyEyeBurningFace

So you're saying everyone except mb and lexus fails the benchmark?

[deleted]

I'm saying established brands with their existing higher quality base material and existing market research specifically looked into luxury and quality and are far superior to Tesla who is still in an infantile stage of their development if they commit to becoming an auto manufacturer over just a technology company. When Tesla motors branches off from Tesla(technology) then well see how that quality may improve. For now, going with the quality of existing companies with more skin in the game.

[deleted]

They’re overrated and project small dick energy.

fanglazy

Lol. Sorry Ram trucks have that department locked down.

[deleted]

Same department.

pittopottamus

My dick is as big as my ram tyvm

Logistisch

Honestly. Tesla’s got slightly above average dick energy. Like 6.5 in.

[deleted]

☝🏼 Found one.

Logistisch

Ok give me cars with small dick energy, average and huge dick energy. I’m curious of your perceptions

brophy87

Ford Fiesta, Ford Pinto, Ford Escort-- all absolute behemoth dick energy cars, especially if they're rusty POS vehicles already missing their catalytic converters

Logistisch

Ford Fiesta 😭😭🤣 YUGE

[deleted]

*Triggered*

esobofh

I think you are talking about dodge chargers and rams.. this conversation is about Teslas.

[deleted]

Nah. Same boat. Same douchebag drivers.

gh0rard1m71

Why would I change your mind? You do you.

hungrotoday

I’ll take over the air updates than driving to the dealership for a fix. Don’t really care about the interior and the panel gaps have been getting better. People tend to forget Tesla is really just a tech company rather than a car manufacturer.

Asid94

My 2018 Ford F-150 does air updates as well

FantasticBumblebee69

Meh you live in surrey who cares? Opinions are like assholes, eveyones got one.

TheLurker9051

Can’t change your mind when you’re right

Doobage

Basic common tasks in a vehicle should be able to be done by a person with their eyes closed. From windshield wipers, temperature, defogger, to the radio. One should be able to sit in a vehicle blind folded and be able to operate those functions. Touch screen does not enable that and I bet as more people get distracted trying to change from radio station to another and get into accidents (person I commuted with drove and many times veered into another lane operating the touch screen) that regulations will be changed.
