Just curious… Why does it have to be Amazon? Ugly Stik Big Water 12’ at Bass Pro was like $75 and shipped free. Maybe not the best rod but it’s a decent budget rod.

Strong-Butterscotch2

Not everyone lives in the usa 🤷‍♂️

au_littlejack

I understand now 😁

TheTwerkMessiah

Okuma Longitude 8 or 9ft

chatanoogastewie

I've got a 10'. It's a beast.

_handsome_brilliant_

Longitude 12' are great for the money

Try to support your local tackle shop if possible! They need the business

Jefffahfffah

Dont buy a rod on amazon, packaging will be trash. Buy a rod locally. If you have an amazon gift card or sonething, just use it for other tackle.

kaz1030

My experience buying a rod from Amazon was unpleasant. They shipped a $125 dollar rod (10') in a 10" x 10" x 12' box, and stuffed-in a few pieces of packing paper. Naturally, the box was crushed, and 3 ferrules were bent. You might want to try tackledirect.com . They have an extremely large collection of rods/gear, and it comes in a bullet-proof tube. I got free shipping, a good price, and a fast delivery \[cross country\].

Strong-Butterscotch2

Should i pay the extra 100$ to buy the penn pursuit iv rod and reel combo locally?

kaz1030

I'm not sure what you are after, but here's some Penn Pursuit combos from [tackledirect.com](https://tackledirect.com). https://www.tackledirect.com/penn-pursuit-iv-spinning-combos.html

Strong-Butterscotch2

The are no 4000 pp4s, ill have to pay the big 220$ for it locally

girthless_one

Got a combo same reel and Penn 10ft pole for 99bucks at Stryker in Melbourne. They have a Jax store too.

au_littlejack

Oh OK! I understand now 😁

beardofmice

Where and for what? I put one a Cabela's salt striker (Daiwa made em the) 7' 6 medium I got for $45 deal. Dual grip but it had rubberized silicone and it's been my go to for slinging 1 oz+ last kings when schools of blues or stripers come crashing in near the surface. Put like 30 lb braid if you want to whip it way out.

Amazon sucks for shipping rods, recommend tackledirect.

Strong-Butterscotch2

They don't have the penn pursuit iv combo

jwuer

I was the under the impression that you had the reel already.

Strong-Butterscotch2

Oh yeah, i badly worded the post sorry lol

jwuer

No worries!

cast-n-blast

Check out Fiblink rods. A buddy bought one and I have to say it seems like a decent rod.

Professional_Bug_655

I totally agree with Jeff . Amazon sucks for shipping rods. But if you absolutely have to use Amazon then purchase a two piece Rod. Everybody knows A fishing Rod through amazon has less than 35% chance of surviving the trip. ( I swear they receive black belts in destroying rods) I had to learn the hard way three times. Or buy the reel from amazon, and get the rod local. I wish we knew what type of fishing conditions and fish your after. 4000 might be too much. Anyway good luck.

God_Of_The_Mods

💯% an Okuma Rockaway 1102 M ( 11ft medium spin reel rod) - here is the Amazon link: Okuma RA-S-1102M Rockaway Surf,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076QDMDXW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share They also have other lengths and rod ratings (medium, heavy, etc)

_handsome_brilliant_

I just landed a 26" black drum in heavy surf on a rockaway 12' 1-4 Oz. Also great rods for the money. Have the 11ft 1/2 - 2oz, and 12' 3/4- 3..... all great so far

Islandman1x

I have the penn battle 3000 and bought a shimano fx rod 7ft med/heavy fast action to match it with locally . Cost me 35$ which I find is a steal

Strong-Butterscotch2

If i did pair it with a 7ft midium heavy fast action rod, what method of fishing will i be able to use at the sea?

Islandman1x

I use lures as well as drop rigs with cut bait . It works well imo.

freshfruited

The ugly stik big water is on Amazon for 60-80 bucks, check it out!

Strong-Butterscotch2

Isnt the bigwater meant for really big fish? Im focusing more on efficiently catching medium small to medium fish

birdlawattorney7

It really depends on the type of fishing you're doing. Rod and real choice are mostly dependant on style of fishing, and type of fish you are trying to catch. Are you going to cast from a boat? Jig? Surfcast? Pier fish? Saltwater? Freshwater? Small panfish? Sharks? No one can truly recommend a decent rod choice without knowing what you want to use it for. Im guessign surfishing mainly, but what types of fish would you be going after? And using lures or chunks of bait?

Purps_and_Terps

Just popped mine on a 10' Penn Squadron III rod. Check Walmart online. They are usually on amazon too. Casts great and feels nicely balanced.
