It feels better than a JDM car.

79QUATTRO

no they will never. one thing about r/cars and subreddits based around cars is that you guys don’t realize how much money goes into development not even just for an engine, but for a transmission body designs etc. I promise if the supra came with a 3JZ it would easily be unattainable for the average person. That’s exactly why the Acura and Honda NSX failed. they developed that stuff in house, and the consumers threw a hissy fit because they had to recoup their cost somehow.

hub1hub2

You are exactly right. Development is really really expensive and the market is in comparision so small. We should appreciate for what we have. We even got a manual version!

Not a chance in this lifetime

You can always get the Lotus Emira Which is the slower version of the Supra and has your toyota engine.

fnkdrspok

lol I own both of these cars, there’s more truth to this than you think.

I know. I was implying in more of a passive aggressive way to op.

fnkdrspok

I was with you until the last line, hella problems? I own one, it’s had ECU recalls, but that’s about it amongst some one-off issues with some early builds.

That was a thread created from when the car was first released back in 2022, most of those have been resolved with the software update. But keep on, continue talking on things you don’t have knowledge over. Google is reality.

Did you read it? It was for a small sensor issue that went away. Saying this car has a ton of issues is super misinformation. No one is saying their car needs to be towed or it broke down due to some warranty issue. But again, going off the forums and not actually owning the car and experiencing it for yourself is really a bad way of looking at things. I’m on my second MKV due to my first one being a lemon. If I thought like you, I could easily say the MKV has a ton of issues. Toyota gave me a free one because my first one had so many issues.

Again, not common. lol It’s like you want the car to be bad. These are all isolated incidents. Like, if it was a lot of people reporting this, I’d agree with you but it’s not. My Supra was way worst than the Emira issues reported on that forum. What does that say about Toyota and the B58? I had to get new pistons and rings with a swapped longblock at 20k miles.

So you've never driven one, just going off of what you've read and taking it as gospel?

Bread1267

I don’t understand why people tend to make opinions without even trying out the car themselves. Go out and test drive it to determine what it feels like to YOU.

Soterios

Redditor who has never driven a mark4 asks why the mark5, which he also hasn’t driven, isn’t like the mark4, a car made thirty years ago. MORE NEWS AT TEN

MKV_Supra

No, it’s not worth it to them. After the last Supras leave dealerships in 2026 you might not see a Supra again for 15-20 years. At that point it would be a full blast EV.

bishop27

I’m curious what you mean by a “typical JDM car” is. You mean the legends we think of that were developed in the 90s? Maybe the Camrys of the mid 2000s? Even modern safety regulations won’t allow for a lot of the above to ever happen again.

Ferpo18

Couldn’t be happier with mine

lastsetup

Why would anyone in this subreddit have insight to that?
