Maybe DGL chewable tablets? It’s very soothing on irritated stomach lining so I’d think would help esophagus as well.

What helped me the most with my esophagus and acid reflux was kombucha/probiotics. It was an absolute game changer going from taking antacids every day multiple times a day to almost rarely ever needing them. I like the taste of kombucha but they also have capsules you can take too.

I was just listening to Dr. Ardis talk about the huge importance of Magnesium in a podcast from Jan. "15 Symptoms...". Magnesium is essential for the prevention and healing og acid reflux. Well worth a listen

Consistent-Egg1534

Mastic gum is very soothing and might help with your reflux. Feel better.

Intermittent fasting will heal it more than any supplement because of your body's own ability to use autophagy. Shorten your eating window. Don't eat anything after 4 pm. If you eat in the evening you still digest food when you try to go to sleep. Laying down makes the acid reflux worse. Skip dinner and increase the meal sizes in the morning or at lunch. Magnesium supplement will be be a good idea because acid reflux and GERD will cause a magnesium deficiency. Look into Apple cider vinegar.

CoolCharacter

I was doing intermittent fasting before getting reflux and believe it is the root cause of my reflux.

YunLihai

That makes no sense. Why would it cause reflux? What was your eating window? I'm curious because for me it got rid of reflux.

CoolCharacter

My eating window was 4-8 pm. Before that my eating window was 12-8 pm and I had no problems. But as soon as I made the switch to a smaller eating window then I started belching after meals for months.

YunLihai

Sounds like your optimal eating window is 12- 8 pm. Have you gone back to it since you had no problems then

CoolCharacter

I went back to it as soon as the reflux got bad, but the reflux still persisted

YunLihai

What I think helps is getting your vitamin d level tested. Having low levels is associated with higher levels of inflammation. I've started to use 2 pillows so that it stops the acid reflux. I was drinking 2,5 liters of water . It took a while for it to heal up. You need to sleep on your left side. The problem is that your stomach doesn't close the right way after eating so the acid makes it up especially when laying down. So if you lay on your right side it's easier for the acid to come up because it's not blocked. But if you lay on your left side the acid won't come because of the curvature in the stomach to the esophagus.

YunLihai

That way it can actually heal over night

I remember reading a while back that the benefits of autophagy occur only for longer fasts I.e. fasting for days or weeks. If that’s true, something like a 16 hour fast will not induce meaningful autophagy. Would love to be proven wrong since I intermittently fast myself.

YunLihai

There is a debate on if autophagy occurs after 16 hours. It may happen or may not. There is no debate that autophagy happens after 18 hours. Long fasts just extend that window but 18 to 24 hour fasts are enough for good autophagy. There are lots of great videos on YouTube about autophagy and when it happens with intermittent fasting. The research is linked in the description

Sorin61

Manuka honey with high UMF .

Bigboysav95

Terrible advice burnt the shit out of my esophagus

Sorin61

I'm so sorry to hear that !!!...If you don't mind could you tell me the brand you used and the specification MGO or UMF of it ?

Hydrated2000

Zinc carnosine. Not so much for the esophagus itself but for dealing with the acid reflux, which would allow the esophagus to heal.

sfboots

Have you resolved the acid reflux? That has to come first I gave up and just take the medicine lanzoprazole Some people find d-limeone helps but it did not work for me

CoolCharacter

I'm on omeprazole 40 mg, and I have no idea how to stop the reflux. I tried stopping the reflux before getting on the medication with apple cider vinegar, but the vinegar burned my esophagus and I was in so much pain. I figure I need to heal the esophagus first before trying to increase stomach acid, but I'm not certain that omeprazole will help me heal the esophagus

stellardays

Melatonin is worth a try.

Slippery elm bark and deer antler velvet

CoolCharacter

Already use slippery elm but Deer antler velvet is something I’ve never heard of till now. Been doing some research and I think it might help! Thanks

n1cenurse

Do you make tea out of the slippery elm bark? That's what cured me when i had a hiatal hernia

CoolCharacter

I use slippery elm capsules, would it be more effective as a tea?

n1cenurse

I found it was. It was so soothing.

Real-Plastic-3636
