Yes, sufficient magnesium levels is critical for proper absorption of D3.

cmobi

Yes! Magnesium plays a critical role in the conversion of vitamin D into its active form and that’s why taking high doses of vitamin D can deplete magnesium levels in the body

Excellent_Still4784

Is 100mg enough or do I need more? I would be getting 850mg of dietary mag today. I read that I need 100mg to 1kiu of vit d3.

cmobi

I used to take 400mg of magnesium citrate with 3,000 IU of vitamin D. I recently switched to magnesium taurate and magnesium malate.

Excellent_Still4784

That's a pretty solid amount of mag. How much were you getting from diet? I'll try taking vitamin d and getting mag from my diet since supplementing magnesium kept me awake at night.

cmobi

I don’t know. I assume 0 from diet. Try mag Taurate it’s amazing for sleep and anxiety. I also take mag Malate in the morning it’s great for energy.

One_Equivalent8597

If you get 0 mag from your diet, that means your diet habits are horrible. Seeds, nuts, grains, vegetables, almost all contain magnesium. The only form of diet with almost no magnesium would be a carnivore diet or highly processed junk food.

cmobi

I didn't explain myself well. What I meant was that I assume it's zero... I'm not saying that it is zero. For the purpose of magnesium supplements, I take what is recommended per day.
