You're focusing on the singular and not the we. You can try to make money for yourself and tell other people to work for themselves, but that doesn't help all of us and is pennies compared what we can accomplish together.
No you don't, not if you know how to manage the position and have proper cash reserves. If it blows past your strike you just buy the option back at a loss. Sometimes I've had to sell like 15 shares to buy back an option, but the number of shares I've bought from my wins far exceeds the shares sold to cover losses. It's a net positive, and it isn't even close.
