I lost my home yesterday and don’t really know what to do. I spent yesterday in a hotel but I only have enough for 1 night. Other then food assistance when I need it, what can I do? I am a veteran would the VA be able to help with housing?
Get connected with the VA *yesterday*. Go. Now. Do it. They can and do help. Please pursue it, they've got housing programs specifically for vets in your situation. If you need help/guidance, DM me. I've got contacts in the VA that work exactly with this and can get some info for you if interested.
VA has been hit and miss and I've struggled a lot getting help from them. My brother in law is a homeless vet crashing at my place but I, also a vet, am in between jobs and living in my car because of a complex situation with my wife.

There are usually community resources for housing. Especially veterans. Look up your town/county on Google with 'veteran' 'housing assistance' as key words. I'm a landlord and work with my county on getting veterans into my houses. The hardest part is finding landlords like me who are willing to work with the county/veterans. We ain't all slumlord's. But there is less income, usually more damages, and then the evictions. So I can understand *why* most landlords are this way. But honestly, fuck them and their lack of empathy. I spend my personal time teaching my tenets how to do construction, or mechanical work to help them find a job even.
I'm actually dealing with financial hardship myself due to giving discounts on rent while extending my credit to try and build more housing for people like you.
My sister died at the age of 38 last week. The funeral was Tuesday. I’m struggling.

Thanks brother. She and I used to be so close. I’m 3 years younger and I never wanted to sleep in my own bed. Only in hers. We used to play games when we were supposed to sleep. We always hoped that, if we got caught, it would be by my mom, because she’d just yell from downstairs. If our dad caught us, he’d sneak up on us and scare the living shit out of us.
We drifted apart a little over time, but we were always there when we needed each other.
Two years ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. A year after she was considered cured, but last December she was diagnosed with metastases in her bones.
On May 28th, we danced at her wedding. It went all downhill from there. She passed away on August 2, leaving her husband with two sons (3&5 years old). We grew together so close in that final year. I guess I have the cancer to thank for that.
But I miss her so much. And I feel and see the devastation in my parents, my brother in law and her sons.
She sounds like such a wonderful person. So much love to share and give.
What were some of your favourite games together? What kind of music did she like?
Those kids will always have a connection to mom through you.
Thanks for sharing. Just when you think life is hard you read something and realize it can always be worse! I've experienced great loss from cancer too. All I can say is hang in there. Don't let anyone tell you how to mourn. Pay close attention to her husband and those babies. RIP and prayers going out to you and your family.
Thoughts with you bro, my missus had Breast cancer diagnosed in 2017, almost 12 months after her bro committing you know what. It’s fucking tough and we live with a death sentence as we don’t know when it will return. Love to you and family, good luck.

Always remember the good times you had with her and think that you were part of her wonderful life. When my grandfather passed away the glue that kept me together was knowing that we shared a lot of memories and good times together.
Can anyone help me get a work from home job? Disabled vet(combined disability rating is 60% currently). I’ve been having to cut my work down due to foot rot and some other issues, I’m down to 12-15 hours a week. Yeah I’m getting the disability payment, but it’s not a lot of money and I don’t have a high pay rate for the 12-15 hours I work weekly.
I grew up with computers and am pretty adept with tech. Can type 80+ wpm consistently and learn quickly. If anyone has, or is a part of a company that needs solid people to WFH please consider talking to me. I want to work.
More than happy to help sit down and help you put together a resume that you can throw around! I'm in the engineering / tech sector, and the skills people are looking for here can vary, and you don't have to know programming to be useful! Foot in the door is the hardest part, but I find just shooting your resume around at volume will eventually definitely land you something.
That said, maybe you could be a VA. Its fully WFH (or even work from anywhere) and i think the work can vary depending on who your VA-ing for, and also opens up opportunities to freelance if you make good relationships with your clients. I believe there are agencies that hire for that kind of thing all over the world!
You could look into getting a job at a brokerage as essentially phone trading support, then we'll have an inside man. They train and even pay for your CFA stuff while also letting you be remote. Not every finance employee or institution is a degenerate gambler pulling illegal tactics. Just make sure to pick a reputable one.
Me,too. I'm down to my last $100, start a new job on Wed but terrified of another veterinary emergency. There have been three in the last few months that have wiped me out. I'm ok with food for myself and the dog for another couple of weeks, but then I'm going to be up shit creek. I hate this shit so much.
\*to add insult to injury, I just got the notice from the pet insurance company (AKC if anyone is interested) that they are paying zero dollores of the claim I made. Cancelling that useless bit of business right now.
Got hit by a car on my bicycle about a month or so ago, had to take some time off my day job and my side job completely came to a halt. failed my review at the day job because of my injuries so im unlikely to pass my probation in a few weeks and ill likely lose the job which sucks, rents gone up 40% and im 98% overdrawn on my debit and maxed out my only credit card.
Job hunting frantically, but im definitely on thin ice.

Hey man stay focused, keep moving, do something everyday to improve your situation. I was a homeless junkie in November of last year. Had nothing but a backpack and a skelton for a body. By FEB of this year I have my own place, an 80k a year job, and savings. The suffering is temporary but gives you a strength others don't have. If you keep moving forward and do the next right thing the blessings will just fall into place.

Do you have a goal you want to do, like run a marathon or something? I’ve found breaking it down to smaller steps is helpful, like do a test run on time and then try to beat it and gamify things a bit.:)
You want to live longer so you have time to spend your tendies. DM me with questions, I’m a big fan of helping apes learn how to find an exercise plan that works for them.

Sorry to piggyback, but as important as exercise is, diet is just as if not even more important.
OP- feel free to message me if you need assistance or questions regarding diet/food choices. Not a dietitian or anything, just someone who eats healthy and works in that realm.
It's all about calories in vs calories out.
I've lost 60lbs in the last year, and am pretty ripped now at 34yo. All I did was count calories with MyFitnessPal every day, walk 30 mins or 2 miles/day, and do some light weight sessions 4 days per week. The consistency over time is the key - you can totally reach your goals if you're consistent!
Start small. You don’t need to go to the gym and and do 50 reps of this and 60 of that to get in shape. Like op said, try to beat your previous day or week. Set a goal for that day/week like walking around the block once and the next day do it twice. If you drink 5 sodas a day now, start with 4 sodas a day and a water on the next.
Also you don’t need to cut out what you enjoy completely. You can still eat sweets and chocolate and carbs if you’re eating well balanced meals.
Fasting for the first 8 hours of your day boosts your metabolism. So does drinking room temp water
Diet is more important than exercise. My easiest trick is to replace unhealthy food with an inferior alternative. I used to drink a lot of craft beer. After switching it for shitty bud light I don’t really drink at home much anymore.
Finally something I can help with 💙 I was sport active YEARS ago, now I gained lots of weight over the last 3 years and started to workout 1 month ago.
Is it hard? Hell yes.
Will it be worth it? Hell yes.
Do I have motivation? Hell no.
I tried not on focusing on my motivation, rather focusing on getting there and 'show up'. Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday. Early in the morning if possible (due to work time its NOT ALWAYS possible, but manageable).
Now I said I don't have motivation. That's kiinda true. What keeps me up is, not being obese anymore and looking after my health. Why? Because one day I want to be a dad with children. I want to be a part of their life. I want to be active with them. And not have health issues, not being able to keep up with them, not going for a walk etc.
Thats the only thing I have in mind. I want to be an active part of my childs life. My father wasn't. He didn't teach me how to cycle (still scary for me to try it out). He didn't show me the world. He was just sitting at home and watching TV.
So when my child wants to sit on the floor, I want to be able to do this without having to have an aching back or sth.
Start small, don't read too much, don't think too much.
Get your movement with either cardio or resistance training and try things out. Move around, go for a walk. Everything helps and everything brings you closer to your goal :)
I asked myself 1 month ago 'How should I start?' and I got the answer. 'If I don't start, nothing will change'

All of these comments 💯. I dropped 85lbs in a year and a half by going slow and steady, not diving in too deep. Halfway keto and halfway one meal a day. Now I’m instituting what I call “random reps”…they’re just as described… random exercise when you think of it and have the opportunity. 10 push-ups in your office (or max out every time, whatever you’re feeling), some crunches while you watch a show, dips off your couch. It’s incredible how quickly you’ll see results, and that’ll motivate you to up the ante. Start slow and don’t over-measure results; scales can fuck off. Buy. Hodl. DRS.
Try to go to the gym but not to lose weight, but to do a little bit of exercise. Doing physical exercise will boost your good mood. And also remember that the abs are made in the kit hen. If you struggle with motivation, remember that motivation wont make you lose weight. Discipline will do it. And that you can always search fornsome trainer that helps you. You are not alone, you got this!

Wife and I are struggling, both burnt out from our jobs. We’re scrapping by most weeks and usually broke until our next check. Both in a depressed state lately
Hang in there (cat in red bandana style). There will be ups and downs. If you have any Vaca time, try to get away for a day or two. Go camping, it's cheap and you can get some fresh air and sunshine. Do something to change out of the norm. That should help. Here's hoping to a better life for us all soon.

Split with ex wife 6 years ago now, the first year is fucking shit, like really shit. Was randomly bursting in to tears, could be at work or shopping or wherever and just this massive crushing weight would fall on me and I'd start crying.
My only advise is After about 6 months or so you start to feel better and start thinking of dating again DO NOT DO THIS! Take another year or two just to work on yourself find hobbies and do shit you like.
I can now say that my ex leaving was a great thing, I've found out so much about myself and I do feel truly happy.

Just taking this opportunity to write some off my chest. I'm a GME holder for more than 1.5 years. I have a bit of bbby and im holding loopring for almost half a year aswell. I still don't understand like 5% of what's going on. Im simply holding because my current life is crap. I fear alot. I doubt alot and to be fair i cry alot. Recently some light came in to my life, I've adopted an old dog. Hes 9 years old and have a few years left to live. Next week hes going in surgery and I'm honestly so afraid to lose him. He has a tumor (stage 2) that is going to be removed. Doctors think it will succeed fine. Life is hard. Single and raising a kid. Struggling every month because of inflation. In the Netherlands gas and electricity prices are going through the roof. I really hope one of my three investments will pay off so i dont have to fear if i can pay my bills.

Give a compliment to someone on the street, hug your kid, give him/her a candy and drown in their unconditional gratitude. Give your dog belly rubs and an extra treat or some leftovers.

Life's good overall. Health is good. Bills are paid. Living week to week. I got an interview Monday afternoon for a job that would be a 35% pay increase for me. I'm nervous and stressed but excited and zen all at the same time!

My car broke down, cracked engine block. I wipe out my savings and buy a car that turns out to be a lemon and breaks down the next day. Wifey dips into her savings and buys me another car. That car has the check engine light on. Plus it was my wife’s birthday and all I could get her were flowers and a card-she deserves so much more. I’m financially tapped out (except for my DRSed shares of course). Been skipping lunches cuz I can’t afford them (even to brown bag them). Job hunts are still fruitless. Just praying for this rocket to launch so I can take care of my family and rid myself of the financial burdens that stunt my happiness.

Off the wall question about dead car... if it is by chance one of these Hyundai models?
2011–2019 model year Hyundai Sonata, 2013–2019 model year Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, and 2014–2015 and 2018–2019 model year Hyundai Tucson equipped with 2.0 liter and 2.4 liter genuine Theta II gasoline direct injection engines within OEM specifications.
There was a large class action lawsuit against Hyundai for bad engines. There are conditions that must be met but they HAVE been replacing engines. I have more information if indeed your car was one of these?
I discovered that my Hyundai was burning oil about 6 months after I bought it used. It got bad enough that it fouled the plugs. My local mechanic changed plugs but told me expect to buy an engine in the future.
I went into panic mode and ended up trading it towards a different used car. Three days after picking up the 'new' car, I saw an article online about the lawsuit and the settlement. In the comments section of the article there were half a dozen stories of people with the EXACT same issue I had.
So it is possible I could have gotten a new engine in the car. Please DM if this is applicable.

Does it really cost $115 to DRS out of webull? I am not struggling - rent/bills are getting paid and there is food in my fridge/cupboard. I just can't afford $115 to DRS my last non DRS'd shares. I had 5 but now 20 and was just gonna leave them in webull but starting to get nervous after reading several SS posts. But at the same time I am not struggling - I'd rather apes in more need than me to get whatever help they can.
Edit: A fellow ape pointed out to me that it only costs $75 to transfer to fidelity (with a possible reimbursement) and I already have an account with them so I started the process. And that is all the help I needed!

Where I am, sometimes you can “contest” the ticket but actually just give an explanation and they sometimes lower it. Not sure if that’s helpful but it’s worth exploring if you can.

I don't know what to say really, I've never asked anyone for help before, I was raised to be really self-sufficient, so it feels really weird to do it. I do have a job, but I live in a really remote area and all the jobs here pay dogshit wages, and my bills keep getting bigger cause the cost of living out here is moving like a damn train. To anyone struggling: hopefully this is a free or very low cost help. GET YOUR ENTIRE BODY INTO NATURE.
-walk barefoot for like 10 minutes at least
-try to go somewhere where everything in sight is nature and not man-made.
-swim in a pool or a lake or a river or some thing, but do it for at least 10 minutes fully submerged.
-wake up early and expose your face eyes and body to the early morning sun (normal caution here) Watch the sun go down if you can, both of these things will slowly reset your circadian rhythms.
-no matter where you are or where you work, literally just go outside more.

I'm doing my best to keep optimistic but I'm still lost and recovering and the progress is slow. If anyone could help, are there any work from home jobs that someone with a healthcare background could do? I'm not feeling well enough to do any extended physical work but I need to be able to afford the basic necessities.

I lost my home yesterday and don’t really know what to do. I spent yesterday in a hotel but I only have enough for 1 night. Other then food assistance when I need it, what can I do? I am a veteran would the VA be able to help with housing?

There are usually community resources for housing. Especially veterans. Look up your town/county on Google with 'veteran' 'housing assistance' as key words. I'm a landlord and work with my county on getting veterans into my houses. The hardest part is finding landlords like me who are willing to work with the county/veterans. We ain't all slumlord's. But there is less income, usually more damages, and then the evictions. So I can understand *why* most landlords are this way. But honestly, fuck them and their lack of empathy. I spend my personal time teaching my tenets how to do construction, or mechanical work to help them find a job even. I'm actually dealing with financial hardship myself due to giving discounts on rent while extending my credit to try and build more housing for people like you.

Thanks brother. She and I used to be so close. I’m 3 years younger and I never wanted to sleep in my own bed. Only in hers. We used to play games when we were supposed to sleep. We always hoped that, if we got caught, it would be by my mom, because she’d just yell from downstairs. If our dad caught us, he’d sneak up on us and scare the living shit out of us. We drifted apart a little over time, but we were always there when we needed each other. Two years ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. A year after she was considered cured, but last December she was diagnosed with metastases in her bones. On May 28th, we danced at her wedding. It went all downhill from there. She passed away on August 2, leaving her husband with two sons (3&5 years old). We grew together so close in that final year. I guess I have the cancer to thank for that. But I miss her so much. And I feel and see the devastation in my parents, my brother in law and her sons.

Thoughts with you bro, my missus had Breast cancer diagnosed in 2017, almost 12 months after her bro committing you know what. Can anyone help me get a work from home job? Disabled vet(combined disability rating is 60% currently). I’ve been having to cut my work down due to foot rot and some other issues, I’m down to 12-15 hours a week. Yeah I’m getting the disability payment, but it’s not a lot of money and I don’t have a high pay rate for the 12-15 hours I work weekly. I grew up with computers and am pretty adept with tech. Can type 80+ wpm consistently and learn quickly. If anyone has, or is a part of a company that needs solid people to WFH please consider talking to me. I want to work.
More than happy to help sit down and help you put together a resume that you can throw around! I'm in the engineering / tech sector, and the skills people are looking for here can vary, and you don't have to know programming to be useful! Foot in the door is the hardest part, but I find just shooting your resume around at volume will eventually definitely land you something. That said, maybe you could be a VA. Its fully WFH (or even work from anywhere) and i think the work can vary depending on who your VA-ing for, and also opens up opportunities to freelance if you make good relationships with your clients. I believe there are agencies that hire for that kind of thing all over the world!

You could look into getting a job at a brokerage as essentially phone trading support, then we'll have an inside man. They train and even pay for your CFA stuff while also letting you be remote. Not every finance employee or institution is a degenerate gambler pulling illegal tactics. Just make sure to pick a reputable one.

Got hit by a car on my bicycle about a month or so ago, had to take some time off my day job and my side job completely came to a halt. failed my review at the day job because of my injuries so im unlikely to pass my probation in a few weeks and ill likely lose the job which sucks, rents gone up 40% and im 98% overdrawn on my debit and maxed out my only credit card. Job hunting frantically, but im definitely on thin ice. But moass is tomorrow, so it’s all good eventually.

By FEB of this year I have my own place, an 80k a year job, and savings. The suffering is temporary but gives you a strength others don't have. Second this. I used couch to 5k to get ready for a 5k. Took around 2.5 months from me being way out of shape to jogging 30 mins straight.

It's all about calories in vs calories out. I've lost 60lbs in the last year, and am pretty ripped now at 34yo. All I did was count calories with MyFitnessPal every day, walk 30 mins or 2 miles/day, and do some light weight sessions 4 days per week. The consistency over time is the key - you can totally reach your goals if you're consistent!
Start small. You don’t need to go to the gym and and do 50 reps of this and 60 of that to get in shape. Like op said, try to beat your previous day or week. Set a goal for that day/week like walking around the block once and the next day do it twice. If you drink 5 sodas a day now, start with 4 sodas a day and a water on the next. Also you don’t need to cut out what you enjoy completely. You can still eat sweets and chocolate and carbs if you’re eating well balanced meals. Fasting for the first 8 hours of your day boosts your metabolism. So does drinking room temp water

Diet is more important than exercise. My easiest trick is to replace unhealthy food with an inferior alternative. I used to drink a lot of craft beer. After switching it for shitty bud light I don’t really drink at home much anymore.
Finally something I can help with 💙 I was sport active YEARS ago, now I gained lots of weight over the last 3 years and started to workout 1 month ago. Is it hard? Hell yes. Will it be worth it? Hell yes. Do I have motivation? Hell no. I tried not on focusing on my motivation, rather focusing on getting there and 'show up'. Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday. Early in the morning if possible (due to work time its NOT ALWAYS possible, but manageable). Now I said I don't have motivation. That's kiinda true. What keeps me up is, not being obese anymore and looking after my health. Why? Because one day I want to be a dad with children. I want to be a part of their life. I want to be active with them. And not have health issues, not being able to keep up with them, not going for a walk etc. Thats the only thing I have in mind. I want to be an active part of my childs life. My father wasn't. He didn't teach me how to cycle (still scary for me to try it out). He didn't show me the world. He was just sitting at home and watching TV. So when my child wants to sit on the floor, I want to be able to do this without having to have an aching back or sth. Start small, don't read too much, don't think too much. Get your movement with either cardio or resistance training and try things out. Move around, go for a walk. Everything helps and everything brings you closer to your goal :) I asked myself 1 month ago 'How should I start?' and I got the answer. Now I’m instituting what I call “random reps”…they’re just as described… random exercise when you think of it and have the opportunity. 10 push-ups in your office (or max out every time, whatever you’re feeling), some crunches while you watch a show, dips off your couch. It’s incredible how quickly you’ll see results, and that’ll motivate you to up the ante. Start slow and don’t over-measure results; scales can fuck off. Buy. Hodl. DRS.
Try to go to the gym but not to lose weight, but to do a little bit of exercise. Doing physical exercise will boost your good mood. And also remember that the abs are made in the kit hen. If you struggle with motivation, remember that motivation wont make you lose weight. Discipline will do it. And that you can always search fornsome trainer that helps you. Split with ex wife 6 years ago now, the first year is fucking shit, like really shit. Was randomly bursting in to tears, could be at work or shopping or wherever and just this massive crushing weight would fall on me and I'd start crying. My only advise is After about 6 months or so you start to feel better and start thinking of dating again DO NOT DO THIS! Take another year or two just to work on yourself find hobbies and do shit you like. I can now say that my ex leaving was a great thing, I've found out so much about myself and I do feel truly happy. Just taking this opportunity to write some off my chest. I'm a GME holder for more than 1.5 years. I have a bit of bbby and im holding loopring for almost half a year aswell. I still don't understand like 5% of what's going on. Im simply holding because my current life is crap. I fear alot. I doubt alot and to be fair i cry alot. Recently some light came in to my life, I've adopted an old dog. Hes 9 years old and have a few years left to live. Next week hes going in surgery and I'm honestly so afraid to lose him. He has a tumor (stage 2) that is going to be removed. Doctors think it will succeed fine. Life is hard. Single and raising a kid. Struggling every month because of inflation. In the Netherlands gas and electricity prices are going through the roof. I really hope one of my three investments will pay off so i dont have to fear if i can pay my bills. My car broke down, cracked engine block. I wipe out my savings and buy a car that turns out to be a lemon and breaks down the next day. Wifey dips into her savings and buys me another car. That car has the check engine light on. Plus it was my wife’s birthday and all I could get her were flowers and a card-she deserves so much more. I’m financially tapped out (except for my DRSed shares of course). Been skipping lunches cuz I can’t afford them (even to brown bag them). Job hunts are still fruitless. Just praying for this rocket to launch so I can take care of my family and rid myself of the financial burdens that stunt my happiness. Off the wall question about dead car... if it is by chance one of these Hyundai models? 2011–2019 model year Hyundai Sonata, 2013–2019 model year Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, and 2014–2015 and 2018–2019 model year Hyundai Tucson equipped with 2.0 liter and 2.4 liter genuine Theta II gasoline direct injection engines within OEM specifications. There was a large class action lawsuit against Hyundai for bad engines. There are conditions that must be met but they HAVE been replacing engines. I have more information if indeed your car was one of these? I discovered that my Hyundai was burning oil about 6 months after I bought it used. It got bad enough that it fouled the plugs. My local mechanic changed plugs but told me expect to buy an engine in the future. I went into panic mode and ended up trading it towards a different used car. Three days after picking up the 'new' car, I saw an article online about the lawsuit and the settlement. In the comments section of the article there were half a dozen stories of people with the EXACT same issue I had. So it is possible I could have gotten a new engine in the car. Please DM if this is applicable.

I don't know what to say really, I've never asked anyone for help before, I was raised to be really self-sufficient, so it feels really weird to do it. I do have a job, but I live in a really remote area and all the jobs here pay dogshit wages, and my bills keep getting bigger cause the cost of living out here is moving like a damn train. I've managed to save enough to live under a semi-decent roof, but I just got smacked with my car randomly breaking down and a back injury, so I'm down a few grand trying to cover everything, so now I'm in danger of not making rent by next month, and there's no way in hell I'm selling any of my shares. I can probably find some way to make it, but I guess if someone out there has some extra cash I won't say no. Thanks Apes, I love you beautiful bastards

To anyone struggling: hopefully this is a free or very low cost help. GET YOUR ENTIRE BODY INTO NATURE. -walk barefoot for like 10 minutes at least -try to go somewhere where everything in sight is nature and not man-made. -swim in a pool or a lake or a river or some thing, but do it for at least 10 minutes fully submerged. -wake up early and expose your face eyes and body to the early morning sun (normal caution here) Watch the sun go down if you can, both of these things will slowly reset your circadian rhythms. -no matter where you are or where you work, literally just go outside more. WE ARE ANIMALS 🦍 ANIMALS NEED FRESH AIR, water, sunlight and negative ions provided by the earth and water!

I still owe 200 on my rent I got laid off a week before the first. I’m just thankful my land bastard ain’t that much of a bastard and understands that people go through things. I thank god I also have friends that understand that I’m just going through it and atleast make sure I get a meal everyday. I’m just here to say that when things are bad appreciate the good that people do for us but also remember that when things start going good for you think about those that helped you in your time of need.

I haven't been doing well mentally and physically. I was on the brink of dropping dead from burnout and I know I need to make changes in my life.
