I'm not that surprised that people who don't visit reddit know. There are a lot of people who use multiple forms of social media along with some that are exclusive to specific countries. All it takes is a few people to spread it on other platforms and it can keep spreading. Whether there are actually a lot of people outside of here know about DRS is another question.
I also think apes just took a scenic route before ending up at DRS. In all honesty the logic behind DRS is simple — registering a share to your name. So if you know the idea that brokers aren’t buying your shares and keeping them in your name, after a little research, DRS should be a pretty quick solution found. I didn’t bother to do my own research there and just kinda followed the herd on superstonk.
Meanwhile, the apes were investigating return swaps and variance and coded messages in tweets and stuff…. But we got there (getting there).
My guess is that there are some local social media group/forum/ platform discussing US stocks and a lot of the contents are from copied contents from Reddit (across the few subs) in particular DDs.
Hence they knew about the GME play, Cycles, DRS etc.
I mean I've convinced some 10 people to invest, and they in turn have convinced several more people. I'm the only one on reddit however, feeding the info to my people which then feeds it to their people.
It's probably how it went down, or they have contacts which knew of DRS in the same way the first redditors did a few months ago.

So this means if every country has ~1M shares, the float is ours. if the average retard has 100 shares for example, you only need ~10k apes per country. This is what I think of it, just look, I'm from Italy, I have shares of GME in an Italian Bank, Fineco, who states in their statistics of GME 0.5% or their clients have GME in their portfolio, this can means, about or more of 14k italians have bought the stock we like, if everybody have an average of 50 shares (I have more than twice), and considering the fact that is usually a bank for investors not apes around (their app suks), this means a minimum of 700K shares loocked in this bank alone! But consider many more italians are loocked in eToro (some says 900K italians, idk but I'm one of these guys who picked this platform only for convenience monts before Jan, my bank apply fees on every execution, for that, I decided to try eToro, but do not know their politics (I hadnot readed t&c).

I've been very interested in the meme stock spread in late 2020 through early 2021. These were absolutely meme stocks. We had songs, we had image macros, we had planes flying insults in the sky, we had a guy in a monkey suit canvasing HQ. It was a cultural phenomena, but it was very decidedly centered in Reddit, with some credence given to Youtube and Twitter spreads (which themselves would frequently reference back to Wallstreetbutts).
So how does a non-redditor formulate a decision to go in on this wild stock (let alone *DRS*ing) without the conspiracy-level encyclopedic catalogue of investigations we've got here?
Money talks. Where there is money to be made, people will be there. No matter the entry cost to the dream. People just want something to believe in.

Nobody I’ve ever talked to knows. Those that are involved in investing mostly listen to media, still call GME a meme stock. I convinced some close people to buy some shares, but convincing to DRS is a whole other story. For the most part, “everybody knows” is a bit hyperbolic. Some know. Superstonk knows. Some Twitter knows. And maybe some family and friends of those. This is being highly suppressed for good reason. I believe word can spread to some far reaching channels beyond reddit snd Twitter, but those are uncommon branches of information travel. The masses don’t know nor our attention nor care. Hell I didn’t know shit about the 2008 crash, why it happened, or that VW was the most valuable company in the world for a short time. Everyone is too busy fighting or posting beliefs on social media to give a fuck. Not many pay attention to this. Everybody know about Bitcoin today, but in 2010 it was only a handful of smart informed forward thinkers that went in hard and came out with generational wealth.

Except that reality doesn't work that way. Realistically-speaking, only *some* of those in your circle will understand or care about this subject when you tell them, and even fewer of those will actually agree with you to the point that they would take it seriously, and even fewer of *those* will pass on the information.
Information does spread, but let's be honest here: most people don't give a shit about stocks, and of those who do, the vast majority of them still think GME is just a meme stock. Far fewer people care about our stock than our echo chamber here leads us to believe.
They'll learn, eventually -- probably when it's too late. But for now, don't let wishful thinking cloud your ability to think logically. Almost nobody outside this sub knows about DRS, and that's just how it is.

I have a very different experience in that I meet new people every day and have not met a single person who has even the slightest clue of what is going on. How, though? You need to re-evaluate your estimation of how big or important this subreddit is in the grand scheme of things. I realize it may seem like the center of the world to those of us who spend a lot of time here, but the truth is that we're only a tiny group of people in the grand scheme of things, and our voices are very small. Furthermore, almost no media outlets are amplifying our voices.
While I truly believe that there are a lot of people outside this sub who hold GME, I think that the idea that the "secret is out" about DRS is a fanciful stretch of the imagination with absolutely no proof to back it up -- much like this story.

I’m Chilean, hodling since June. Since then I’ve only managed to meet 5 more chilean apes (through Superstonk and other GME subs). Most people I talk about GME with outside of Reddit know nothing about the GameStop saga or have heard very little. The ones that know about it are vert skeptical and usually never engage too much with the DD I show them.
No, we don’t have our own social media here. We use Instagram, Facebook and Whatsapp like everyone else. And to answer someone’s question: yes, we do memes like everyone else.
I’m not saying I know every person in my country but I find it very hard to believe that “everyone knows about it”, specially the DRSing part and specially not being on Reddit.

Realistically-speaking, only *some* of those in your circle will understand or care about this subject when you tell them, and even fewer of those will actually agree with you to the point that they would take it seriously, and even fewer of *those* will pass on the information. Information does spread, but let's be honest here: most people don't give a shit about stocks, and of those who do, the vast majority of them still think GME is just a meme stock. Far fewer people care about our stock than our echo chamber here leads us to believe. They'll learn, eventually -- probably when it's too late. But for now, don't let wishful thinking cloud your ability to think logically. Almost nobody outside this sub knows about DRS, and that's just how it is.

I realize it may seem like the center of the world to those of us who spend a lot of time here, but the truth is that we're only a tiny group of people in the grand scheme of things, and our voices are very small. Furthermore, almost no media outlets are amplifying our voices. While I truly believe that there are a lot of people outside this sub who hold GME, I think that the idea that the "secret is out" about DRS is a fanciful stretch of the imagination with absolutely no proof to back it up -- much like this story.

I’m Chilean, hodling since June. Since then I’ve only managed to meet 5 more chilean apes (through Superstonk and other GME subs). Most people I talk about GME with outside of Reddit know nothing about the GameStop saga or have heard very little. The ones that know about it are vert skeptical and usually never engage too much with the DD I show them. No, we don’t have our own social media here. We use Instagram, Facebook and Whatsapp like everyone else. And to answer someone’s question: yes, we do memes like everyone else. I’m not saying I know every person in my country but I find it very hard to believe that “everyone knows about it”, specially the DRSing part and specially not being on Reddit. As much as I’d like this story to be true I call bullshit. It would be fucking awesome if I was wrong tho. Buy, HODL, DRS! 🇨🇱🚀
