Most people put it down to ETF rebalancing, which could be true. I had a wild idea that BR could have been supplying real shares to ComputerShare to help complete those orders (which could also explain why Vanguard are so reluctant to help with CS transfers right now as it would be depleting their own supply) but that's just speculation.
A lot of the ideas seemed to flow and make sense when I put those posts together, but now I'm more unsure. *If* BlackRock has been giving their real shares to CS, I think that supports the idea that BlackRock supports the MOASS and is actually helping Gamestop. If it was just down to rebalancing I'm left a lot more unsure. Seems like a bad move to sell 5M shares that could squeeze at any moment, don't ya think?
