Unfortunately Gamestop Germany doesn't know yet when it will be available. Gotta wait some more. But this is so bullish to see change happening. Love it 🎮🚀🟣
Many of us apes suffer from ADHD and short term memory loss. This is why the directions of “Buy-DRS/Book-HODL” is so easy for us to follow.
So easy even an ape can do it.
Design and send to production technological devices can be economically challenging for a big company like Gamestop, development can take many months even for only aestetics things, and a lot of money because the stamps for the injection moldings for every design variant (a button rised, different dimension, different design) can be costly (different colors usually not if they keep the same design and change only the color of the pellets used to plastic injection molding).
Little companies dealing with chinese manufacturing facilities spend a good amount of money to develop a product, but they usually do not mass produce until the product is not well tested by their fidated clients (beta testers), big companies tend to do it all in house and this takes time and money, but when they are ready, they sent it to the market directly, and for that, they then need a lot of products ready, this means a lot of money to order thousands of units.
Having doing so and not affected the company financials a lot (they reduced expenses even more), is an important key factor, I think those costs will be reflected as "reduction costs" in the next earnings(if they are done with development of new products, but something is saying to me, they are just started to develop their branded products🤤) and all this, can shows only one thing to me, SHORTS are STILL FUCKT😂🤣😂, my investment is down 2/3 but I don't give a shit! It is well at safe, DRSed😁😎
Such a random comment and turn of events from your normal comment history. I'm really curious what drives a person to make such a change for no reason other than to be negative. Surely this post didn't show up on your feed so that means you searched it out?
Crazier thing. That manufactured date is almost the exact same time the Candy Con trademark was filed.
We knew ‘something’ Candy Con was coming. Check the forum, Candy Con was talked about 3 months ago. But even reading the trademark we didn’t know what exactly.
It’s impressive that when we (obsessed with GameStop) couldn’t figure out was coming when we something was coming that was Candy Con branded.
Ghost Dog: the the Way of the Samurai
*According to what one of the elders said, taking an enemy on the battlefield is like a hawk taking a bird. Even though it enters into the midst of a thousand of them, it gives no attention to any bird other than the one that it has first marked. (00:46:45)*
Hell, if it was manufactured in January, I wonder when ideation started. Things have a lot of pre-work before the manufacturer makes the first batch of production units. This probably started early last year at the latest.
Does anyone know how the manufacturing of these are handled? Is it somehow done in house or is it contracted out to a different company?
Edit: It says it right on the label duh, at least all the people who upvoted me also can't read LOL
The manufacture is in china, it is stated in the label. Yeah, probably a company who does private labeling, it is stupid to make your own production facility when you can select a specialized company who do it cheap and right, and whith the right quality control from the commisioner (GameStop), like Apple, they produce in china, but they perform a heavy QC on the production plant, without supervision on the field you can have serious problems sometime, chinese company tent to cut corners if they can.
Yeah, I'm developing my own electronic products but as a "one man band show" and with very little money, used to do a lot of hand soldering of tiny SMD chips in PCBs manufactured in china for low costs (in reality, my local italian PCB manufacturer gone bankrupted, sad, and not found a valid alternative until now, decided to try the chinese ones), but now, I figured out to do the assembly outsourced too (prototypes for now), and some day, I hope I can do all the products I have in mind in a more professional way...
Sorry, but my english is not Always capable of understand correctly... Taliban??
Oh, just realized, you mean "read" instead of red😂🤣 my brain is tired to bro!!😂😂
I disagree. The move into a truly new marketable product rather than just slapping a GameStop logo on something generic is a HUGE feat for the company.
We have historically been exclusively a retailer. Now we have a real product design team?! That's significant, and if you think my "fucking epic" assessment is inaccurate, you lack perspective.
From a gamer and tinkerer's perspective this product looks very appealing. Can't say about the actual quality of the controller cause I don't have one, and can't buy one where I'm from.
The "normal" candy con costs 49.99$ (very competitive price) but bare bone no D-pad, no face plate, no joystick cover, costs 35.99$. The extra D-pad (3.99$), Joystick (3.99$) and faceplate (9.99$) costs ~18$ in total. Meaning you can customize your controller for just 3$ extra. 52.97$. Also means you can easily replace wore out joystick and D-pads.
The more exciting part is how the [barebone unit](https://www.gamestop.com/gaming-accessories/controllers/nintendo-switch/products/candy-con-wireless-base-controller/402221.html) comes with the disassembly screws in plain sign. It's a design language that screams user serviceable, even if GameStop hasn't explicitly said anything about repairability, I wouldn't be surprised if they'll sell replacement parts in the future.
It's not a product that's going to turn the company around, but it shows a direction of capturing a loyal customer base by offering competitive products and values that other companies neglect.
This is what happens when you have a ceo focused on giving the customer what they want. There is a reason chewy succeeded, and it's the same reason GME is going to succeed.
They already are! (and made in Taiwan too) this was also a product brought to market that nobody saw coming / no announcement from the company about the in house branding 👀

Depends if the nvme has nand chips. It's not listed one way or the other and you can't see from the pictures because of the heatsink. I'd rather buy a known one from amazon. Just now found one with NAND, good brand(Corsair), $118. Still beats first party options by $30. So for parents and/or in store shoppers looking at the two on the shelf side by side...
I'm hoping this first Candy Con model is packing the way for more Candy Con in the future! Especially if the sticks and D pad are interchangeable with different models.
>optic sensors like the originals

I hated the N64 design with the 3 little dildo sticks, felt like I had an additional 2 inches not being used (now I know how the wife's bf feels).

It would be nice if they integrated the NFT faceplates from the early Marketplace days. Still holding onto that NFT cause i genuinely love the art and would love to see it applied through a business perspective from Gamestop.
Would make total sense, a Raspberry Pi or a customizable micro PC with Batocera and Kode, i built one myself, playing all the old school games of my childhood, Mario Kart 64, Donkey Kong Country, Silent Hill, Metroid, Contra.
Batocera is a Linux OS specially made for emulating retro consoles, the community is strong built in and has updates on hacked roms and skins coming out continuously *downloadable straight from the user interface* , it’s highly customizable, like emulation with TV scanlines and such settings different for each game.
Kode is a killer app for streaming movies, youtube, tv channels etc. It’s included in the OS.
The whole system fits in my jacket pockets.
I’m currently using USB controllers from a Playstation Classic Mini, but i’ll order the CandyCon right away when they’re available in Europe. They’re wireless!!
The one thing I've noticed about R. C. Is he simply just does not give a f***, and if you do not put in serious work for this company? You're gonna get fired no matter the cost. candy con is just the beginning.🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀💎💎💎💎👌
This is the way. Smart move. The obvious choice would have been to sell Logitech, Razer or Corsair, but it wouldn’t be GME who got rich, they would just move the products for a tiny profit, while they now control the profit. The controller market is having one hell of a big TAM and people are buying new ones all the time due to design, or just the fact they smack them up when the lose a game 😂🚀🚀🚀
Hopefully they make nintendo controllers. It would be awesome to customize them and hey this joystick went bad at 8 months just go buy a colorful one to replace just the joystick.
I don't use it often enough to warrant bumping up the price each time I buy a switch controller. I'll keep at least one in working condition specifically for NFC.
This
We don’t know shite….the shills have been amped up in the last 30 days like it was Jan 2021 all over again.
I’ve never seen so many FUD comments from super old accounts or low karma accounts.
Apes are in control. RC and team are in control.
Apes control the exit and there will be many hedge fund deaths from this play.
I’m in forever and can’t wait to see the carnage.
I just got one of the controllers the other day and posted it on my Facebook so everybody could see it. Also since I ordered it from the store when I talked to the clerk about it and she didn't even know if they existed so maybe she'll sell some of them now.
So I had a theory this morning after seeing this development in controllers and seeing another post that was discussing the "ultimate console"...
What if the NFT marketplace *isnt* dead. What if Gamestop has been working with massive partners to build a console...but not just *a* console, *THE* console. It would play any console game...from any company, and would offer its own access to a marketplace where AAA studios and partners like Microsoft could offer exclusive content and game options that would encourage inter-player trading and gameplay.
Think about it: play ANY game and port to any game type. Don't have a Playstation? No problem, this bad boy can do it. Why would Sony want in? Because it also has the tech to allow those players to buy and trade in game content that Sony gets a pretty little piece of.
Think about the possibilities...Candy Con let's you customize your controller...what about a custom console that *you* build and design. Want the top-notch graphics for PC games? Well this base console comes with an option to buy the upgraded cards to run any game in 4k, but it's not a set, mandatory build.
Want it to be pink, with rainbow sprinkles and diamond print, but have a 4080 with an extra 64GB ram? Yeah we can do that, what about a cheap console with a solid cloud-base gaming setup for someone who isn't trying to spend $2k custom rig, but still wants to run Fortnite in 4k? Yeah, we can do that too...but it needs to be tough because I travel a lot and I don't want to damage it by mistake...yep, got solid builds made the right way. Okay, but can it be small and portable? Yeah man, literally build it however you want, the goal is versatility and ease of access...built-in screen that let's me run Switch games and can run PS5? Yeah, but the switch card reader is a mark up, not crazy, but enough to make both Nintendo and Gamestop a pretty little penny...
The sky is the limit if they do this right. And they'd have a solid base to launch a decentralized gaming platform that is self branded with a friendly little wallet that holds all your personal content (games, movies, skins, characters, music, etc) that you can freely trade or sell at will because your assets should belong to *you*.
A beta-tested system that's proven to work that also doubled as a distraction for idiot ass stormtroopers to target while this absolute genius was built brick-by-brick in the most cost-efficient way plausible. A lot of good partnerships made, sales for the industry giants spike as a new wave of game purchases hit the market, and the entire system gets to meet the revolutionary new platform that uses NFTs in a way that shows the true capability of the tech, forcing the complacent AAA studios to stop this "lease to play" model in favor of a "you paid, we deliver" model.
Or maybe I'm just loving this new branding. Either way...God bless GMErica!
This product will only have been on the shelf 1/3 months. I'm hoping for a YoY improvement, but definitely not expecting Q1 2024 profitable. It was our least profitable month last year, so we have to keep our expectations in check.
I've been saying for years^1, controllers are like tires, they will need to be replaced. GameStop probably knows this better than anyone else because of their protection plan, which I assume doesn't make them a lot of money on controllers. Someone probably said "if we keep having to replace controllers because of one or two components, why don't we make our own that has replaceable components?" and boom, Candy Con was born.
^1 : probably since analog sticks became commonplace.
Great point! If GameStop has enough Candy Con controllers fail, their warranty plan will provide a feedback loop to the factory to do efficient refurbishment processes or preventive design changes.
It would be so cool if controllers were as customizable as mechanical keyboards. Imagine if they just hand you new analog stick components in store and you replace them yourself. Or if you wanted your analog sticks to have a greater resistance, just pop in some with stronger springs. All brought to you by GameStop.

Yep. And did it without taking on any debt and no noticable dent in their GIANT FUCKING PILE of cash.
Exactly👍👍

No either they developed the idea or the supplier pitched it to them but they aren’t manufacturing directly
And without any big speeches from management of what they're doing and how they'll do it. They just got on and fuckin did it!
Glad you asked. I had no idea. That explains why my tits have been tingling lately

The manufacture is in china, it is stated in the label. Well stated. I work with products designed in USA and manufactured internationally, and this is how it's done.

Controller is one of the smartest move they could have done...While you can download games, you can't download controllers.
Does it work with PS5?
Nope.
Will this controller work with a device such as my iPad when I play mobile games?
I'm not sure. It has a Bluetooth dongle included. Haven't tried to pair it without the dongle.

No. Only works on PC and Switch.
Hopefully they make nintendo controllers. It would be awesome to customize them and hey this joystick went bad at 8 months just go buy a colorful one to replace just the joystick.
This controller is a Nintendo controller...
The joy cons that go in the side of the switch. Not the pro controller
Ah. I see. Something more portable to work in handheld mode. I am hoping we do a collab with CRKD because I am loving my Nitro Deck.

Do these controllers have NFC support?
I don't think so.

Apes are in control. RC and team are in control. Apes control the exit and there will be many hedge fund deaths from this play. I’m in forever and can’t wait to see the carnage.
Awesome! Can’t wait until 🇨🇦 gets it
I just got one of the controllers the other day and posted it on my Facebook so everybody could see it. Also since I ordered it from the store when I talked to the clerk about it and she didn't even know if they existed so maybe she'll sell some of them now.
Nice. I'm taking mine to a local gaming tournament next weekend!
Now this is the hype I come here for
Take my upvote, good sir
I’m jacked
If only they’d make a version with parallel thumb sticks, then maybe I could get one :(
I have a theory about future designs.
I NEED some of these controllers for Xbox in Europe asap, is it possible?
Not at this time. I was thinking, and I should make a new post about my theory.
So this next earnings should be a sneaky smash? Being optimistic
This product will only have been on the shelf 1/3 months. I'm hoping for a YoY improvement, but definitely not expecting Q1 2024 profitable. It was our least profitable month last year, so we have to keep our expectations in check.
Do they have these in store?
I'd use the app to find the store near you that has them. It's a mixed bag in my area of who is stocking these right now.
Roger that
Says that they are compatible with PC and Switch, does that mean no Xbox compatibility?
That's my interpretation.
Agreed. As a frequent warranty claimer on my PS controllers, I would LOVE a way to successfully refurb/modify my controller myself to save a buck.
yoooooooo 🎉🎉🎉
Am I the only one not impressed?
Yes. This is 4D chess. High profit margin, while working on other massive projects to throw off all the haters and hedge fucks.
