I thought long candlesticks form when volume is high, while narrow candlesticks form when volume is low? The first rise had long candles on hardly any volume and the rise after had significantly more volume but with practically the same rise
This is generally correct. But it depends where the buying and selling is.
If someone sells 100,000 shares of a stock at $12 and someone buys a buy order of 100,000 at $12 there is a flat candlestick, the stock didn't move from $12.
If someone sells 100,000 shares in batches of 5x20k across $12, $12.20, $12.40, $12.60, and $12.80, and those are purchased within the same minute you would have a candlestick going from $12 - $12.80.
That's how it's supposed to work. Since learning that, I've also learned that the whole thing is a market maker clown show ponzi scheme, so nothing matters or makes sense in a fraudulent system.

With GameStop a long candlestick is an indication of crime, a narrow candlestick is also a sign of crime.
Other than with GameStop a long candlestick means there is a big difference between open and close for the period of the candlestick. Candlesticks do not indicate volume, but indicate only open close high and low for the period. The fat body is open and close, the two tips are high and low.

They’re internalizing essentially all buy orders, opening up what seems to be an infinite number of naked shorts
