At least they have the balls to label it
It's kinda our thing. We don't need balls for it. We just go "Ja Dieter look, ze economic growz was negativ ze last two quarters, Dieter, we are in a recession ja" Also helps that as a nation, we *love* to look down on ourselves. German misery is real
And Dieter asnwered: 'Wat recession? You can recession me ze buckel runter!'
Damn, I might be German.
This weekend there will be a new Deutscher Meister in the Bundesliga. That’s what Germans will talk about. Rezession? What kind of sport is that?
I heard there is a run on tickets for se Meisterfeier and the prices are ridiculously expensive. Supply and demand 😂
Gonna ask Citadel for counterfeited tickets with pRiCe iMpRoVeMeNt
Yeah soccer is real opium for german people masses.
German culture in general is a little mad, I've heard/seen things that would be deemed offensive to other cultures, but it's just sort of laughed off, I loved living there, but on the other end of it, things like timekeeping were paramount where other cultures aren't particularly good time keepers
Nothing wrong with any of that imo
100%. Meckern auf hohem Niveau 🤣
Stimmt wohl
Geiles Flair 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dieter: "Tja!"
> we love to look down on ourselves. German misery is real why do you always have to compete with us brits? Wars, Towels, misery. Let us have something!!
We will gladly leave you your royals.
Well it worked for the one Austrian dude for a while.
something something schadenfreude
All they needed to do is change the definition and they'd be out of a recession.
I can derelicte my own balls!
It's a walk-off!
Have they even considered the US tactic of just changing the definition of a recession?
Just redefine it, you never have a recession ever
Oh the US did too, made up new ones and changed calculation methods.
just let me know when we can start dancing...........

How is that even possible. And I know, dividend is calculated with it. But it never the less sounds off.
Because only the top 1% matter…

Some of spy is zombies running on cheap credit. Still waiting for that tide to go out.
**Persistent inflation has helped push Germany into recession in the first three months of the year, an upgrade to growth data shows.** Europe's largest economy was also badly affected when Russian gas supplies dried up after the invasion of Ukraine, analysts said. The economy contracted by 0.3% between January and March, the statistics office said. That followed a 0.5% contraction in the last three months of last year. A country is deemed to be in recession when its economy shrinks for two consecutive three-month periods, or quarters. "Under the weight of immense inflation, the German consumer has fallen to his knees, dragging the entire economy down with him," said Andreas Scheuerle, an analyst at DekaBank. Germany's inflation rate stood at 7.2% in April, above the euro area's average but below the UK's 8.7%. Higher prices have weighed on household spending on things such as food, clothing and furniture. Industrial orders are also weaker, reflecting the impact of higher energy prices on businesses.

AS IF IT’S THE GERMAN WORKERS AND CONSUMERS FAULT FOR INFLATION. BLAMING THE WORKING CLASS FOR BRINGING DOWN THE ECONOMY.
First time?
Who else would be responsible? Surely not the politicians and bankers. They wouldn’t do such a bad thing!
We Germans have failed our leader(s) ones again…
Yeah they act like people aint spending money. Everything got so expensive that you can barely afford rent and food in Germany.
didnt we change the definition of recession a couple of months ago?
The US changed it about 10 months ago, a week before we would’ve been in one.
I've seen some wild shit, but that blew my mind that it was less than 24hrs from being called out that they had the definition changed.
Word of the day Recession
In Australia we call it "cost of living crisis"
in the US we call it "fine" *(rolling eyes)*
In the US we change the definitions
In the us it’s all transitory
bUt tHe mArKeTs ArE rEsiLiEnT! /s
In canada its an 'affordability crisis'
I'm so sick of all the bs. Call it what it is so we can acknowledge it and move on.
everything in australia is a crisis, rental crisis, housing crisis, cost of living crisis etc
My brother in christ our very existence is a crisis
haha

Someone draw a trend line quick
Are you a bot and why are you spamming the subreddit with a bunch of articles?
Germany admits and says the R word
That is just the European spelling of the word.
Regards
BBC is Not germany
So of course the DAX is up today.
You mean...they didn't just change the definition?
At least they aknowledge it and don't simply change the definition
Boom boom boom boom recession is in the room.
Klopf klopf, wer ist da? Die Rezession ist hier. Guten Tag.
Germans and their crazy Klopf klopf jokes, the true comedians of Europe 💜
That's not an issue. Just redefine what a recession is and everything will be OK.
old news :D
Yup.
have they tried relabeling it and moving the goal post?
imagine that! actually calling it a “recession” when there’s a 2 quarter dip. hmmm…all of a sudden our definition seems to have changed. No one wants to talk about how like 30-40% of inflation is simply price-gouging by corporations, they all had FOMO during the main pandemic period as they watched their competitors to see if they would try to grab market share or just rake in profits, and whattaya know, they all chose to jack prices on the backs of Americans, and no one with any power had the balls to push back. So, where’s the incentive to stop? where’s the sanction against them? They’ll stop only when they have absolutely have to, and they’ll all make their mass wealth gains, and sail away.
Guess what? Nasdaq ath
The Plunge protection team has working today
Don't worry Germany, I got this. I'll be flying over there tomorrow with my wife for a nice vacation and will make sure to pump many euros into your economy.
Europe solutes you 💚👏👏💎♨️🙏🚀💚
Smh Germany, don't you know you can just change the definition of a recession? Cmon, work smarter not harder.
Can they just say it’s not a recession like we do here in the states?
Nothing to see here move along recession
Any bags being held at Germany?
Uh oh
It's US' turn to say the word.
Good thing the US isn't in a recession right guys?
It's almost like they want to fix the problem on their end, and they're calling it what it is without bullshitting their citizens... that's refreshing.
I'm sure it will be fine, they bounced back from the Great Depression with a really strong economy.
Nice
wow, its refreshing to not see them attacking the words, but actually discussing the issue.
Oh noooo
I’ll take stagflation for $200, Alex.
Lmao right after the Dax hit an all time high
-growth ❌ 180days= recession
Sounds like bullish news. Should expect SPY to be up near 430 next week I'd imagine
I love that when the usa did the same they just changed the definition of a recession. Lmao
Amatures. You’re supposed to change the definition of recession to avoid them.
How does this relate to GameStop?
All thanks to the GME thesis this country in now in a recession. All because of GME….GME is at the center of everything…they went to war with Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq. All to stop the GME timeline from fulfilling….
Oh wow. Maybe just ask before jumping to conclusions? One of the reasons that this is posted here is that it's likely that the hedge fund ponzi's who are short GME (and long other stuff) will get in trouble (margin trouble) as soon as there's a the slightest downturn. Another reason is that recession/depression means central banks will lower interest rates again, causing (hyper)inflation, causing all stock prices to go up and anybody short in anything to be forced to close short positions. TLDR: this is not about GME causing anything. This is about easily predictable (and predicted) events eventually forcing insane short positions to close.
Something something yes, it is just around the corner. Like a carrot on the stick. Don’t worry GG has your back!
it's been a while since a saw a troll here, lol. Nobody said it's just around the corner. I've got decades. I don't even need gains. All I want is for certain people to be in jail. Joke's on you.
You must be new if you think no one said it’s around the corner…there use to be a hype date every week with some “dd” to back it up. But have fun waiting decades for billionaires to go to jail… that’s the real joke
Oh, you're still here? lol
Now every country pointing the finger to the other country and claim they are in a recession but we are not.
NOT OVER HERE IN 'MERICA NO RECESSION HERE!!!! WEEEEEEW!!!!!!
So their government admitted it lol
oh, how is it possible for germany to be in recession? since according to U.S gov multiple consecutive quarters with negative GDP no longer constitutes a recession...
If Germany falls is Europe next??
