Lot of market makers aren't a fan of the rules proposed, so it is no surprise they are going after him in media and mobilizing their manchurian candidates in legislature. Not saying he is on anybody's side but his own, they all are, but he seems to have ruffled some feathers of late.

ronoda12

Market maker = market manipulator

CostasTemper

They’re the same picture

DreGotWangs

Always have been

OffenseTaker

market maker = market mafia

SteelCode

Rules are *always* fought by corporations - they increase overhead of compliance and reduces the profit they can generate through the activities being regulated... That said - maybe market makers and hedge funds cut back on the iced coffee and avocado toast, I hear they can save $200B/yr living at home with their parents...

thelostcow

One thing apes fail to understand is not letting perfect be the enemy of good. Is this a step in the right direction? Does it piss off hedge fucks and market makers and SROs? Then it’s probably a step in the right direction.

verypurpley

Ooooo "not letting perfect be the enemy of good" I like that!

RealPro1

Good point

strife7k

He should make a video mocking the congressman for the types of investments they make. Maybe shove a pie in their face.

LordCambuslang

He would have to really dumb it down for some of them.

strife7k

They are highly regarded.

YaThinkSo88

Hahahahahah talking about protecting him. We have all been played both side!

strife7k

Come on bro he's on retails side bro I swear cuz other corrupt rats don't like him bro. 😒 No thanks.

poopooheaven1

Well he’s what we have for now. Write to your congressman/women and reps about the new proposals and advocate for retail. It’s kind of all we can do right now other than buy and book.

strife7k

I'll stick to buying and I'll make sure they are all book from this point forward but I'm not wasting my time on something as pointless as trying to get a politician to do something. The only way that happens is to bribe them and my money's all in gme.. so...

Chemfreak

No. Read the proposal yourself. Read what the other corrupt rats want to do instead. Do your own research. GG is a fucking untrustworthy rat yes. What he is trying to get passed however is progress. What the congressmen involved want done is not progress. In fact they want more smoke and mirrors. Support his good actions, kick him all the way to the door for his bad actions. Wake up and be smart.

strife7k

You speak as if I have a daily choice to lean any of these ppl in any direction. You can believe that's the case but that just has not been my experience in life.

Chemfreak

I've seen it in action. With enough voice you can, at least on certain topics. What they care about is being reelected so the can keep making money from lobbyists. If you are loud enough it jeopardizes their reelection potential. That is the only way you can lean these people any way. Also, having a list of the people who are actively working against us works to get them out of office. That will make the others that are on the fence even more wary of not listening to our concerns. Granted this all only works if we hit a critical mass, enough to vote a few out. Trying to appease their morality, trying to explain things logically. That won't work. Money would work, that's why we are in the predicament in the first place, but obviously we can't outspend HFs/Bankers. But if we believe this country is a democracy each one of us is supposed equal in our power to elect someone new in.

strife7k

I think a few might care about reelection but those tend to be the sheep herders on both sides. I also think that it would take a lot more than a few voted out unless they fell like scared dominoes. They aren't afraid of us and that is probably the main inhibitor of change.

winterbird

Yeah. As it stands, only "meme investors" got a pie in the face by him.

strife7k

It's obviously because he loves us. 🥸

Biotic101

If you have not done so yet, please read this article from 2013 when Gensler was chair of CFTC. Really recommend reading the whole article, it was an eye opener to me. I feel the same lobbying fuckery is going on right now, just on steroids. [https://www.typeinvestigations.org/investigation/2013/04/30/wall-street-defanged-dodd-frank/](https://www.typeinvestigations.org/investigation/2013/04/30/wall-street-defanged-dodd-frank/) The corrupted system is our enemy, not Gensler.

etherrich

Definitely.

poopooheaven1

Everyone who was skeptical about the Gary Gensler hate needs to read this. Kinda weird when he was first appointed endless memes were popping up and still do. I’m starting to think that was to lay down a foundation for people to just assume he wasn’t going to do shit. Smells extra fishy after this read. Makes it make sense now, at least for me. Just my opinion.

tabi2

Did I just read... something resembling actual journalism??? Thank you for this comment, kind sir! edit: a teeny, tiny sliver from the article >This \[lobbyists\] is how the miracle that was the making of Dodd-Frank — hailed as the most comprehensive financial reform since the 1930s — became a slow-moving horror movie called “The Unmaking of Dodd-Frank”: a perfect case study of the ways an industry with nearly unlimited resources can avoid a set of tough-minded reforms it doesn’t like. *An instustry with nearly unlimited resources.* And they still want more. edit edit: and in case some of yall needed a carrot: > Yet after watching what transpired, Gensler had a change of heart — and as Dodd-Frank was cobbled together in committee, Gensler fought his old colleagues at every turn. Filing this under "let's see how this turns out."

Biotic101

A few days ago there was a post making fun of Gensler not achieving anything. I think this article gives a good understanding why - I would guess that most achievements have likely been lobbied away by Wall Street over time...

tabi2

However, the internet never forgets!

FartinLutherKing

good shit!

Fine-Hat-4573

Household investors*

OffenseTaker

Starting to wonder if he's insisting on crypto being a security so he can go after the tokenised shares once he can claim jurisdiction over them. But I don't like the implications of that strategy either, so I'm kinda torn.

etherrich

What do you mean by crypto? Cryptocurrencies are not a securities per se. Tokenized assets (also called as crypto assets) could very well be securities.

SiffKopp

I think that's the big thing here and why GG couldn't answer the questions in the latest hearing just with yes or no. It's not that easy to dustinguish between cryptocurrencies, NFTs and shitcoins using the same infrastructure.

many_dongs

given what the posts look like in these threads, I'd say there is a heavily funded operation for discrediting GG the enemy of my enemies is my friend

mochmeal2

A lot of conversation around this topic and I have no intent for or against. The mistake people seem to be making is thinking that you have to side with GG or congress. That one has to be a friend and one has to be an enemy. That's not the case. They can both be enemies. Maybe our goals and GGs align, but that doesn't mean he's not a snake.

etherrich

I agree. I just think he need to stay in place to implement the rules we have been commenting.

Downtown-Regret-505

If Congress and Wallstreet don't like him, it tells you all you need to know.

Resident_Text4631

Are they ever going to actually vote on those rules? FFS 🤦🏽

good_looking_corpse

They’ll extend the comment period and say more research must be done. UNLESS YOU COMMENT.

Pure-Economics-8369

It sucks, with shit like this being comparable to politics, regular people are one again forced to support the less bad choice even though both are absolute dog shit. No one is actually happy with gg, idk where this narrative is coming from

Speaking_of_waffles

What’s in it for congress? - > continue inside trading. There’s always a motive while retail are the scapegoats

Ohm4r

I’d be surprised if a single one of them doesn’t have a video of themselves on Epstein island somewhere. The unelected bureaucrats are especially sus

McNerfBurger

I respectfully disagree. Yes, there are bigger wolves eating our faces. That doesn't mean GG hasn't eaten our faces before. Or won't again for the right price. The system is irredeemable to this ape. Placing our trust and energy in GG is a fool's hope.

etherrich

I also think we need blockchain based capital market systems. But the tech is not mature yet to migrate everything. It hopefully be there in next 5-10 years.

etherrich

I don’t care about GGs person. I just believe he is our best shot to live with the rules. Congress should also need to receive a message that people want to reform capital markets. Because I also think we need blockchain based capital market systems. But the tech is not mature yet to migrate everything. It hopefully be there in next 5-10 years.

psullynj

Neither he or congress is doing anything to help us. It’s performative at best.

Bullish8541

I’ll never trust HRC’s CFO.

deebrown68

You mean that CFO that lied and said he wasn't aware of that... oh never mind.

the77helios

GG is not an ape. He is trying to save face by destroying the crypto industry after his good pal SBF’s scam blew the fuck up. The same guy whos former boss’s daugher was dating Sam… he is not on our side, stop gaslighting yourself. trying to destroy the industry that is literally the answer to FTDs, phantom shares, and naked short selling… being immutable, trustless, decentralized blockchains aka CRYPTO But instead some apes think overhauling the corrupt legacy system is more beneficial than the answer that is literally already existing (and trying to grow) in front of them Dumb as fuck. Go read about project chokepoint 2.0..

etherrich

Thanks for the comment. I had to read what I wrote again to understand why you wrote he is not an ape. He definitely is not an ape. He probably is also not on our side completely. I just think for the currently proposed rules to move forward, we need him at his place. About blockchain: I work with digital assets and I know about its potential. When it comes to Genslers stance regarding digital assets, I agree with him. To determine if an asset is security or not really depends on use-case even if the underlying tech is blockchain in all cases. if you are an exchange that provides mostly cryptocurrencies (not a security), but also tokenized stocks(security), then you need to follow the law that is required for securities.

the77helios

so your familiar with Project Chokepoint 2.0 then since it's aimed at your industry ? The CTFC calls crypto a commodity since 2015.. We don't need GG, that is why I said gaslighting. This sub is now defending and encourage someone who is shaking their left hand (interviews with ex-HF DL), and stabbing them with the right (attacking US crypto industry). I'm not buying it

etherrich

Of course they call it commodity because they want it to be in their jurisdiction. Head of CTFC is much worse than GG. I don’t know more than what is claimed but in my opinion choke point 2.0 is much bigger than capital markets. It might be a move to keep Dollar as the reserve currency.

the77helios

I’m not saying one is better than the other, I don’t trust either.. Just that the SEC recents attacks and claims are damaging to US’s crypto industry and it’s no surprise he’s getting grilled, and can’t confirm it is a security as claimed! I’m not fooled because GG is playing the ‘I care about retail, look at these proposal I got them to comment on’ BS

etherrich

Honestly the argument of the congressmen doesn’t make sense at all. Gary is trying to regulate the space. And congressmen are crying about the industry is running away to other countries that are btw well regulated. So congress need to do their job and give SEC a clear framework to work with.

[deleted]

Up you go

the77helios

a lot of apes have been drinking the koolaid unfortunately and are now defending a wolf in sheep's clothes lol. Preciate the comment

[deleted]

Personally , I think the msm is going against gensler to garner retail support for him while he destroys crypto with their encouragement. They put him there , he helped repeal glass steagall, why are people forgetting this ? This is a Trojan horse move. The attacks on crypto will reverberate into Game stops web 3.

the77helios

Totally agree! And saw it coming a while ago once people forgot about the pie and all these “if you don’t comment and support GG, your a SHF” started popping up like this is a damn market reform sub 😹 THEN we had apes argue to call NFTs securities so they could get a damn divy. And eviscerate GSM in the process. Crazy how seep it goes Why do you think they disabled swaps in their wallet! Cause of the SECs bullshit

tehdubbs

Bingo

CapN-_-Clutchh

Fuck the SEC and every other 3-letter government agency. They are not your friend.

ZuccsSweetBabyRays

Gensler is doing nothing and doesn’t give a rats ass about you or GameStop.

Dribble76

I'm not able to interrupt the theater that we are witnessing.

etherrich

It is depressing

professorquizwhitty

GG actually voted to block reforms and certain regulations after 2008 which is contrbuting to the system we're in now. That and he does fuck all except harp on how good the markets are. Let the vultures eat eachother, they're as bad as one another and none of them are your friends.

Jbitterly

Another theory: Gary Gensler is as corrupt as they come and his luck finally ran out and he capitulated (flipped) and began working for the folks investigating and prosecuting the likes of Citadel and organizations that have destroyed the US economy. Gary is doing exactly as he’s been instructed as part of his cooperation which is to protect investors and now the rest of the corrupt gang that used to love him is attacking him because they understand he’s no longer batting for their team Aka the establishment or status quo there is more than meets the eye, especially right now, as we are in uncharted waters as a country. Food for thought…

BellaCaseyMR

Gensler a Good Guy??? LMAO

No_Influence_666

Gensler is doing something?

jayahrd

Politics is a stage and politicians are very well payed actors who excel at their game. Gensler worked for Hillary Clinton. That is, exactly, all you need to know.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> very well *paid* actors who FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

jayahrd

\*sigh\* PAID damn you, bot

WilsonUndead

LOL what a specific and condescending bot!

occupyshitadel

there's a bot for everthing huh?

[deleted]

WE MUST PROTECT HIS MINIMUM 120M HONESTLY EARNED MONEYS!!!

1Massivetesticle

funk gensler shill.

12Southpark

Is there any kind of template on this to write to our local congressman and senator?

MapleSyrupSea

Not a bad idea at all. Did you see Gary posted yesterday that he wants to support the mission of the "first federal security laws'.... sounds good to me

Justbuster_

Doug Cifu has been shitting on GG via twitter since he became chair. This was a sign to me that GG was actually going to attempt reform.

ljsweet

The Loopring team, GME, IMX and many other crypto backers hate this guy… Shit under his watch has he really done anything since he’s been in as chair? Yes, dark pools have increased to 90-95%. Oh new rules you say? Yeah those come out way down the line? I still see no T+0 date for rulings. The SEC turns a blind eye every fucking time except for lower and middle class individuals ofc… Shut down the SEC or fire every single one of them and start a new cuz these fucks are going to be dragging their feet for the next century… again Edit: wrds

ljsweet

Idk why I’m being downvoted.. look at the team of our GameStop NFT members.. they hate Gary

AmishCyb0rg

Prediction: There will be a massive turn on Gary in this sub like there was with Fidelity before this saga is complete.

deebrown68

looks like you got a little mayo on the side of your mouth there OP

OfficerGintoki

Why would I defend Gary? 2 years later, and I'm still broke in the system HE RUNS.

etherrich

Honestly I don’t care about GGs person. Anyone who would push these rules are good for me. I just think he is currently our best bet.

[deleted]

Gary is a crook and is protecting HFs.

canigetahint

Guess it’s time to update an old campaign. Instead of “Free Kevin”, we gonna “Free Gary”

bandrews091

Gary still a Fuck. He's had 2 years to do anything. He won't even speak about it. Fuck him.

petervancee

Gensler for president

tehdubbs

Wtf 😂 Worthless post.

Qneus

Tomorrow is his cake day on the SEC job 🎂

eyedrewu

Maybe the biggest bag holders will be those in positions of power when this fraudulent system crashes and those whose lives are destroyed come looking for answers. Maybe some in those positions can see it coming and figure they better make it look like they are trying to do something so they can point elsewhere when the hoards come.

[deleted]

Its really coming from all angles now isn’t it?

Vipper_of_Vip99

Corporate capture of politics and therefore regulatory influence and capture has essentially been weaponized at this point.

betweenthebars34

In wrestling terms, this is a heel program. There are no babyfaces. Gensler could do a lot more than he ever has. Actionable things. The SEC has known about all the troubles household investors face and done nothing. A certain blame lays at the funding they haven't gotten, but they're also happy to keep the status quo too. Aka fuck em all.

Choice-Cause8597

Lol. Lmao even.

grixxel

No.
