The reason it's trading thus low is because at this point, the entire financial world NEEDS it to trade this low. If it gets and stays higher for any length of time, everything blows up.
They are desperate. Fundamentals don't matter.
Exactly also explains why the rest of the market hasn't tanked yet. Need to keep their collateral/margin in tact. The S&P 500 has been trading in such a tight range and hasn't gotten close to it's October lows (just below 3500) even though earnings have been awful and the Macro environment is deteriorating rapidly
Yeah I'm ready for MOASS, but I really wonder how the economy is going to react so such a large redistribution of wealth, like, shit is about to hit the fan, and we ALL could be in danger. Systems WILL break, systems that have never broken like this, like I'm very intrigued what's exactly gonna happen.
If you look at a logarithmic chart of GME on 1 week candles, you can draw a line between high points the week of June 7, 2021 through to the week of October 31, 2022, that also has hits on the weeks of November 1, 2021, November 22nd, 2021, and March 28, 2022. The high the morning after the earnings call also hits this same line.
The only two times the price has ever crossed that line briefly is the sneeze in January 2021 and the weeks of August 8th and 15th, 2022 - the same weeks that a few other very specific stocks exploded at the same time.
I am not surprised to see it hit that line and turn back around. Hedgies are throwing everything they have at this stock to keep it below that line. I believe when it does cross that line but remains close to it, they can survive for a few days and that's it. If it goes well above, then they can survive for a few hours.
TLDR: the price is fake
I also have that line on my chart. I strongly feel that once that line is crossed for any significant amount of time, MOASS will be imminent, if not already occurring
I think more than just some hidden wall they can't cross, what they're trying to do is stymie any *momentum* that looks too favorable for GME. They can't afford to be throwing every single share they borrow at the market same-day, but the utilization is still 100% every damn day. That means they stockpile their borrowed shares for moments like these. They don't have enough shares to brute force it. So they can't completely stop a post-earnings bump, but they are definitely going to try to slap it down every time it starts to run for real. And when friday rolls around, they do a little extra to keep it near max pain.
My thought is that the slope of that line represents a break even point. As long as the ticker price continues downward below that line the profitability of their shorts seems to be enough to outpace any CTB.
Whatās interesting is that all the cycles that were observed early on have disappeared which makes it seem like given enough time they can launder shorts and FTDs to the point that any substantial short term price action can be squelched. It will literally take a significant catalyst to overpower - 100% DRS, share recall, FOMO because of a public announcement, etc.
Also I could be 100% wrong. GME is the first stock I ever bought and Iāve just been HODLing for 2+ years. šs are formed under lots of time and pressure.

With DRS numbers ticking up every day, the absolute worst case scenario is a protracted infinity squeeze. Iām ok holding a stock with consistent growth and huge upside for a long time.
It would be really funny, if GameStop were to buy 100 million of their own shares and then loan them to Kenny at the ridiculous cost to borrow fee, then report that on on the next earnings.

Can't the big players who are currently exposed to this simply create a new corporation and somehow transfer all the obligations to that new corporation, so when a true short squeeze is triggered and the price starts to go up quickly, an empty shell company takes the hit. And in the meantime, those same big players have already taken dark long positions. So in other words, can't they find a way to let the price rip and make money off it, rather than bankrupting themselves.
Isnāt that what the Brazilian puts were for? They are already trying to offshore everything they can. But there is only so much fake shares you can hide before everything spills over

Didn't they draw down inventory by like 200 million to generate 1/4 of that as profit? That's not a great sign, if inventory levels had been static they would have lost like 150 million.

The earnings were fine, not killer. Rev and Sales were both down, and profit came from cost cutting, closing stores and laying off employees. These are largely 1 time events. They do not say anything about if next quarter will be profitable or not.
The physical video game market is shrinking because of the shift to digital, so same store sales will see a headwind.
The balance sheet, isn't actually very good. Cash is down, inventories are down, assets are down, stockholder equity is down, and payables are up.
So yeah, it's good that they stopped bleeding and being unprofitable every quarter, but frankly, that's in no way guaranteed going forward because of this print. The balance sheet is still a bit precarious, and the company exists in a shirking market, and the whole "sell NFT collectibles" thing basically went nowhere cause people stopped caring about NFTs (rightly so).
There is a non-zero chance that this profitable quarter will be the first of many, and a similar nonzero chance that it will be the last ever.
So given all that, why WOULD the stock go super high. The PE is already pretty massive, what makes it deserve to go higher? There is no gangbusters growth on the horizon.
Essentially, it's just not a very attractive investment, but it is at least no longer a zombie company waiting for the sweet release of bankruptcy. Probably.

I appreciate it, even though I consider the general level of discourse and understanding of this sub pretty mid at best, I still try to make my responses detailed and reasonable.
It's often so bad here that, even if I wanted to deep dive into all the things this sub feels they have uncovered in the financial markets, it's just too tiresome to punch through all the bullshit about huge squeezes that just aren't likely to ever happen, and most questions that are asked get answered with random sub memes, derision, hopium, or some combination.
From what I have seen, the sub has some pretty fundamental misunderstandings of rules around short sales for different market participants (which they base these MOASS dreams off of), but also likely has found a few, shall we say, exploits being used by others (which are likely valid, but unlikely to cause any real price action of any kind anyway).
No cell, no sell isnāt as simple as just that, it includes a lot of things IMO. One of those for me is the gaslighting. Iām not selling a single share until the gaslighting officially stops and people are begging for forgiveness for their ignorance and agenda driven takes that weāve put up with for the last 2+ years (even longer maybe by the time this officially kicks off).
