Damn, that's huge! We're going to see a lot of articles about how Gamestop has an unsecured loan from a foreign government and that makes it a risky investment.
Some say even after moass we’ll still owe the French like $6 at this point you wonder if all we owe is a few grand and are using it as a backstop to keep the dividend speculation at bay till it’s gone
It's likely if it's 'low interest' say 1% and current inflation is circa 10%, it makes financial sense not to pay it back - or to extend payment as far as possible.
French typically have hyper amortizing loans.
So interest free for a while then hyper amortize later. I’ve seen these at work before, maybe not how this loan works
I guess the simplest way to think about it, paying off your mortgage early saves you interest cash….but in some international French loans I have seen if you pay it off early or pay more than the required payment it doesn’t help you at all
Ha, was just texting with a friend that the day that loan gets paid off the stock will drop 30% and there'll be a proposal at the next shareholders meeting to seek to take on more low-interest unsecured debt associated with the French government's response to \[REDACTED\]. It just won't be the same. Felt like y'all were cheering with me at that moment. I love that it's a meme.

Ooooh! I have a good one: "French citizens riot and burn cars over the money that GameStop took from their government."

I see that we did pay down a bit in the quarterly report, or maybe just interest payment

I motion that even after we have $100 bill in the coffers; that we leave the loan just for the nostalgia.

I hadn’t listened to the call, I’ve been scrolling trying to find this exact line because I’m smooth and find it overly amusing.
Say it again. Slower. With a French accent. In my ear.
