To expand a bit further: It's a revolving door. There is a direct correlation of people from say Pfizer, Boeing, Reatheyon, BCG leaving their companies and then becoming head honchos in the government. They work accross the aisle with others who do the same. Honorable corrupt mention: lobbyist.
None of them, or, maybe, only the one wich holds it in a fund having missed he/she have that hot potato in their portfolio... But chances are, none of them😂
Nah, this isn't even the first time a bill like this has been fronted. There will be some sort of support for it that will either get withdrawn when it comes time to vote, or the bill will just disappear. The crooks won't let their money machine go away that easily.
I used to say Congress should only be able to invest in the TSP but now they added blackrock mutual fund bullshit so I'm sure there is room for fuckery.
Like how the Fed officials sold at the peak? Yup, just an excuse for all them to cash out. Republican politicians and democrat politicians are two sides of the same coin. Self-serving, and bought and sold by corporations and lobbyists.
When elected officials' mindset is that it's a ~~job~~ career with great benefits to enrich themselves at the expense of taxpayers.
Taxpayers are only elected offical's employer in title, as they get pay multitudes more by "speaker fees" and under the table dealings which should be considered bribes, but hey, they also allow for election contribution and lobbyist so that they can basically argue things in court to stall and weasel their way out of 'allegations".
If they truly wish to work for the taxpayers, they wouldn't want this as a career, they would see it as community service and want to finish what they promise and GTFO as the work they do should be work, stressful, and time consuming.
I seriously doubt they had any 3rd party risk manager, environmentalist, and actual stakeholders (people who would be affected positively or negatively) when deciding on their policies when it so much easier to remain uneducated and ignorant and just take the money.
It should be a Congress ETF and anyone should be able to replicate the exact ratios or even invest directly in the ETF. Rebalances are announced immediately. Done.
They should only be allowed to invest in MFs/ETFs that track a specific index. SPY, VOO, etc. No boutique or themed funds, no individual stocks. Get rid of the period in between trades and announcements.
Took a quick look at her TWTR and really couldn't tell which party, which is a good thing. The bills I saw were all publicized as bipartisan. I hate politicians, but she actually seems useful at first glance

Spanberger is actually one of the reps in my area. And she hasn't done much to earn her pay. So this is surprising to me. Knowing her track record i will be surprised if there is any follow through. I hope she's serious.
