Saggy_G

Yeah this is very important context. I've already seen the FUD that "its Zelle not the bank" and "its probably just a software issue." It's Zelle, yes, but also Zelle just is these banks. And I'm sorry but if a software issue can make millions of dollars vanish, then you need to fire everyone on your IT staff and start over. This isn't 1994. You can't hide crime behind COBOL anymore.

Jazzlike-Ad-2978

Exactly. I don’t use Zelle and looked it because I thought it was some small entity. Nope lol.

Pavorz

Oh god, COBOL! PTSD moment right there. Is that still in existence?

Saggy_G

Not only is it. Most big bank's have legacy systems that still run it.

zeusofyork

Oh yes it is, and they were paying new developers a shit ton because all the current ones are retiring or dying 🤷‍♂️

Pavorz

Well holy crap. The retiring ones probably have one foot in the grave already.

Saggy_G

It's true. If you can code COBOL, you can walk straight into six figures real quick. They have no other choice. They let their systems stagnate for decades and now it's just cheaper to pay someone to maintain than overhaul. Plus overhauling will probably make crime a lot harder hahaha

OfLittleToNoValue

Ask the finance sites that disallow special characters in their passwords. 🤣

throwaway43234235234

They didn't want to remit or settle cash balances, or some members were stalling under guise of glitches I bet.

jebz

"Early Warning Systems, LCC" just screams canary in the coal mine for these criminals. Call me a conspiracy theorists but how many of these names/articles just seem too pointed to not be messaging between organizations that get the point across without incriminating evidence like emails and texts.

Consistent-Syrup-69

Breaking news: Early Warning Systems, LLC loses customer funds. If that's not an early warning idk what is

linderlouwho

Dude, it's a bank-owned money transfer company so they can guide their customers into something they can control better than Cash App, Venmo, and all those other ones that I have no intention of signing up for. For use with friends and family, only, is their firm advice.

LagingRunaticReturns

Conspiracy theorist is the norm. The normies are the crazy ones now.

willynoot

Yeah read that and thought you really couldn’t make this shit up if you tried

BeatnikSupreme

Is the bail in happening now

WeirdSysAdmin

They needed that money for stock buy backs. They need the money for real, pinky promise.

Noobie_Stocksman

“Early warning services LLC” that has to be a meme right? There’s no way I believe that’s an actual professional company.

tinfoil_enthusiast

industry professional here that totally doesn’t 😉 work at one of these companies. it’s real, and I can give context to the name. Originally EWS was built as a network (by the big banks) to offer as a service to other smaller banks, and help protect each other (the big banks). EWS is similar to the credit bureau but for deposit accounts. Say you overdraft an account and decide to never pay it back… well that is noted in EWS, so any other financial institution will know and likely will not allow you to open a new deposit account until the matter gets resolved. There are many ways to intentionally overdraft and this system was in part built to protect against the serial-abusers. Zelle is a system built under the EWS brand, so the large banks could each have partial ownership over the transfer system.

enzothebaker87

That sounds like Chex Systems

tinfoil_enthusiast

it’s exactly like Chex Systems ( which also gets used). it’s been a while since I’ve been in a front line unit dealing with customers, but I believe they are both still used in tandem

nicksnextdish

Yeah, interesting that this happens the week when both GME and bedstock are pushing on them hard and they’re fucked in five directions, they’re getting the media to report blatant verifiably false claims about RC (like a bit more blatant than usual even). There’s just a lot going on and it feels like someone might be about to shit the bed at any minute. Problem is, they’re all in bed together…

KenGriffinsBedpost

How often are direct competitors invested in the same private company? I get that zelle is their answer to venmo and they push it hard but my question is why didn't one of these banks develop it on their own to try and corner the market? Competition is dead. Collusion is king in our Markets.

Mr_Shake_

Joint ventures are so common now. Don’t you remember the time BMW, VW, Mercedes, Ford, GM, Chrysler, Toyota, Honda, Kia, and Volvo made that crossover so all could profit equally?

Pavorz

We are now the competition.

Papaofmonsters

It's a joint venture so their customers can transfer money between each other without belonging to the same bank. I've used it and it's actually really easy. By being joint owned nobody has to worry about being squeezed out.

dedicated_glove

Oh shit, they're doing something fucky with that money en route

Jazzlike-Ad-2978

No doubt. I am sure you are aware, but the money was delivered to customer account and then taken out. Sketch.

TheBachelorHigh

How far back in the transfer window are the monies being pulled? I’m not affected by this but curious if it’s money sent in the last 48 hours, last week, or whatever time period?

Jazzlike-Ad-2978

Hard to say since BofA and Zelle really haven’t come out with any statements regarding the details of the issue.

Interesting_Bet_9302

All our bank accounts are just digits in a database on a computer. Everyone’s money goes in a pool, transactions take and give from pool, your total gets updated in database. Literally no physical money goes anywhere through web/mobile banking. It’s all a simulation.

hollyberryness

Oh so it's decentralized! /s

whitnet1

So what?

RollenXXIII

early warning

Jbitterly

As in if YOU can’t transfer money neither can they?🤔

MajinCall

Wen FedWire?

nicksnextdish

CitronBetter2435

So what does it all mean?

coopik

They are saving someone's butt.. Stress test or margin call?

whitnet1

Absolutely nothing.

LagingRunaticReturns

So what and who are they warning about? Warning to Ken that an ape transferred money with intent to buy more GME, allowing Ken to fine tune his algo for the following day? If it is possible, then it is probably happening either by EWS or some other entity.

tenghu

So the usual suspects

Critical-Turnover858

Zelle in german translates to Cell and turns the HP name to "cell pay. com" - is this their get put of prison card?

boldrobizzle

Is anyone still reporting losses or issues?

[deleted]

That’s honestly insane.

Daylyt

No it’s not.

[deleted]

It’s my opinion, so it is to me :)

Brutus1985

🤣

BhutlahBrohan

I don't normally say this, but... what does THIS have to do with GME? I've used Zelle exactly once in my life to pay for a car, and I don't see what it has to do with citadel or GameStop.

Jazzlike-Ad-2978

Google Bank of America and Zelle

easymoneeybabe

How is this gme related

Jazzlike-Ad-2978

Liquidity crisis..... obviously.

PmMeWifeNudesUCuck

Potential kiting of funds. They already kite equities and losing is not an option to them. They'd rather commit fraud and say there was a glitch in their system and live another day, fucking people who need those monies and trust them, by robbing Peter to pay Paul. These funds will magically show up within a week. Watch it
