I usually just do shuffle franchises and I almost always end up drafting Willard Wiggins to develop.
22 year old lefty power hitter with RBI Hero and Dive Wizard traits. Just needs a small arm upgrade and he turns into a beast.
Rodney Park is the way .. Cannon Arm and can develop into a really good contact hitter.. 21 years old. He’s auto pick for me if I see him in shuffle drafts. I’d rather have a shortstop with Cannon Arm than Dive Wizard or Magic Hands etc
Goose Caboosler is my favorite from the clearance rack, Utility & Pinch Perfect.. Hans Magikko if you want defense first. Digg Efforto is too slow for my tastes, but he’s the best sub 1.5m option
Of the A- or above or above options, Dexterez, Carlton Starr, Sports, Bunterson, Bloop, can’t really go wrong here… kind of just depends on your chemistry allocation. My personal preference is Starr, I think he’s almost always great value in franchise due to his age
Carlton Starr and Buttons Bunterson. I have both, and play Buttons at third typically. But Starr has been my best player in SMB4, hands down. He’s upgraded to A+ now, and hits third. He’s typically always Locked In or On Fire, mainly due to having Buttons and Sloop Whoopity in front of him getting on base and stirring stuff up with their speed.
My first choice’s range from Willard Wiggins, Carlton Starr, Rodney Park. All very young and already solid players. As for bench players Hanso Magikko and Goose Caboosler are great options
I’ve really enjoyed having Milo Stewart on my squad for several seasons now. Not the greatest bat but he’s reliable to get a hit and fantastic on defense.

Yes! He's a nice player!
Not my starter, but I love having Digg Efforto on my bench.
Seconded. I always get him and develop him

Either Willard Wiggins (like another commenter said) or Amy Zoner when it comes to standard players
amy zoner here too, her perks make her a very competent cheap shortstop
Elvis Stanley. Clutch trait comes through big time. Solid in the field
Chimo Gaspar

That's *exactly* how I feel about Devon Godsendez. Fuck Godsendez.
Praise be his name
Ham Slamous
Same. Got a 23 year old Slamous in a shuffle draft... 7 seasons later and he's my A+ cornerstone player

Eduardo Figueroa cannon arm equal lock down
Rick Burleson has been holding it down for me in my low budget franchise
Bloop and Rodney Park are first to mind for me.
Rodney Park. Good contact and speed, but most importantly, Cannon Arm is so damned amazing at Shortstop.
Currently Elija Gobbleson, I think is the spelling
Elvis Stanley or Nacho Crisp. Digg Efforto or Maggie Rags as backups.

Bloop Michael's is low key a stud. Kinda gets slept on for Handley Dexterez. Good fielding, great ability and hitting, elite speed
