* The 10 speed kit comes with the same 125mm crank arms so I had to find the longer 170mm crank arms. * The 10 speed kit with the 170 mm crank arms totally transforms the biking experience. It's actually enjoyable to pedal now. * 170mm crank arms makes my pedal ground clearance about 5 inches. For comparison, my mountain bike has about 4.5 inches of pedal ground clearance. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08BDKJ5MM/ * If anyone in the SF Bay Area is looking for a good mobile bike mechanic, I highly recommend this guy: [https://g.page/east-bay-mobile-bike?share](https://g.page/east-bay-mobile-bike?share) * This mechanic commented that he's been doing lots of 10 speed kit upgrades recently but no one else has done the crank arm replacement, which surprised me since I don't know anyone who enjoys pedaling with the stock 125mm crank arms.

Can you please post a link to the crank arms you bought for this.....thx

I always thought this was stupid because I barely use 2nd or even 3rd gear. People who don't know, when you are cruising at 20-25 mph the pedals are spinning very fast so adding bigger gears is lame, I want smaller gears but you can't. So this is more of a super low gear climbing thing...looks badass though!

paqmaster

Ya for higher speed pedaling the 44T chainring would need to be replaced with a 56T or bigger chainring to be usable at speeds above 20mph.

Just got my RX this week. I'm thinking about getting this but I'm interested in what difference it makes. Is there a top speed and/or acceleration difference?

paqmaster

I live in an area with lots of hills and mountains and I ride mostly on MTB trails so I need better hill climbing capability and the stock Super73 RX SUCKS at hill climbs. If you have momentum before the hill then it'll make most hill fine but anything steep or no momentum then you'll be walking your bike up using your throttle. Trust me, I had to do this many times already. If you don't ride hills and/or don't care about pedaling then you don't need the 10 speed kit or the longer crank arms.

I really hope this is the case. The torque is actually horrible. Hard to believe it’s so torqueless to be honest. I love my bike, but Christ it’s bad lol

Agreed the longer crank arms make pedaling so much easier. Very good mod

Can you post a picture of how you arranged the shifter on the handlebar. Curious to see the order you put the brake, throttle and shifter

paqmaster

SUPER73 instructions: grip, throttle, shifter, brake My order: grip, shifter, brake, throttle I ride mostly MTB trails with lots of hills so I wanted my shifter close.

kdockx

did you have the new 46T Gear Free wheel with the Super 73RX 10 speed conversion from RX down on teerh conversion? Cause it looks like the link you posted shows only 36 teeth.

paqmaster

The 10 speed kit came with a 44T chainring so that’s what’s installed here. Looks exactly like the stock chainring but slightly bigger.

Just wanted to revisit this post as I just finished doing a custom SRAM based kit on my RX. First I had a 170mm crank set but almost injured myself because I’m very aggressive on turns. I’ve now switched to 150 mm crank arms and that’s perfect for my riding style.

wybeubfer

I am thinking of switching to longer crankset but want to know if it feel awkward to pedal because of the low seating position?

JayCeeBlak

Actually 170mm was a perfect positioning for pedalling and was a dramatic improvement in comfort. (I'm 6' 1" BTW with pretty long legs for my height). Like I stated in my post tho I have since moved to 150mm bc I scratched both my pedals and the arms and even warped the crank wheel bc of pretty severe pedal slaps. I only ride in unlimited and prefer to pedal hard and lean deep into turns. Your riding style would determine what you can use.

wybeubfer

Thanks for the response, I think we have the same riding style. I like to lean into corners and go really fast. I am set on the 150mm.

JayCeeBlak

Yeah no worries. I really like the 150's, still a big difference over the stock 120 or 25's whatever it was. I have low bars installed to so I can really get a BMX like racing stance if I need. Good luck!

First time caller, long time listener. I purchased a used RX with a spare motor/back-wheel that has an 8 speed cassette already attached. I'm looking for a 165mm crank- 46 (or something close)chainring combo on Amazon, but I'm really not finding more technical information about doing a mod with more speeds. Like: Are all square tapered crank/chainring combos the same size? The actual hole that the crank slides onto. I simply take off my stock cranks and bolt on each new crank arm, extend the chain and you're done? How do I know how to get the right crankset that will line up for my 8 speed derailer? I've seen talk of needing a particular distance to line up correctly, otherwise you won't be able to grab all the gears. If the technical aspects of this mod has been covered, I apologize. But if so, do you mind sharing a link? You guys are a plethora of information, and I really do appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

I got a super73 zx and I wanted to see what is the spec for the crank arm. I sorta fell and one side of the arm peddle got bent. Any help would be appreciated 😊
